Was digging stuff up due to phone posting but luckily some website archived everything in convenient to peruse format!

Yeah, people have been making this argument for awhile on all sides. Part of why many people feel playing games competitively is stupid and I'm not sure I can blame them for that. As a developer there's a conflict of interest if you want your game to have a competitive appeal but you need to milk a franchise for revenue.

If the industry were healthier this might not be as much of an issue.

Catching up on the USF4 announcement thread. Two things from the reactions that I am not at all surprised at:

1) SF4 players hate fun.
2) Despite not having played the game in 3-4 years, I have a much better understanding of competitive SF4 than most of GAF.

also that air self-launcher thingy looks like total butt, obv you're supposed to yrc or rrc (red roman cancel? or just roman cancel? or what) it, but even then it looks like butt

I was talking to Circ, our resident Potemkin dude and general grumpy guy, about it. He says that ICBM looks like it has no redeeming quality. On the flip side, things look a lot more hopeful than at the loketest. People were comparing him to CT Tager.

Edit: Also, if you're around, I hear you know some Injustice things. I'm learning Batgirl and this girl is nutty. I have the cross up DP set up down, but I wanna know how things like that work so I can start coming up with something more clever. You know what's up with things like that?

I've always felt that there's an inherent handicap when it comes to turning video games into a viable, big-time competitive affair, and it's something similar to that linked argument: Video games are disposable entertainment with a short shelf life. They're tied to technology that becomes outdated and undesirable. There's a lot of risk in building a career or league out of such a shaky foundation that other hobbies and sports just don't have to worry about.

The MTG Pro Tour, LoL tournaments, THE INTERNATIONAL- they're all marketing.

Nemo mentioned he is using Faust in GGXrd. He was always one of the best Faust players from what the community mentioned to me.

Infiltration probably picked up more English in one year now that Laugh doesn't travel with him then he did for all the years before that.
