I just tried it at work. The D-pad is OKAY and the controller feels nice. Best way we put it was SF-like spacing, movement with Marvel-like combos (easy mashy combos-with more complex combos). Another guy said

Well, you're not supposed to just throw it out. It's meant for reads/punishes on projectiles. Now it's slightly better for that purpose.
