Yo enzo_gt you only have a couple more days to register for CECC. Cut off date is Oct 13th. I just finally got around to registering, myself.

See you there man!

Hey, friends, little off topic here but: I haven't really had enough time to participate and add to this wonderful thread series lately so I thought I'd give out a promo code for Arkham Origins for the PC if anyone wants it. You'd have to go to the geforce website and go through the redemption process, but it seemed like a neat way to give back to my fellow GAFers. PM me if you want it.

Edit: It has been snagged.

I have no idea whether my twitch account is verified. It would suck if I had to make a new one since I already follow hundreds of channels.

Welcome to my world. All my years of highlights of beating up on Beef and various people are now gone forever.

I'm glad Twitch is going through with these changes.

Wasn't that the plan with Monday Night Combat, but the way MS ran Xbox updates fouled the whole plan up?

-------

Just FYI: the premise of the new Gundam show is basically esports/fighting games, and (completely unexpectedly) the show is actually really, really good. Animation is fantastic.

Pissed that they beat me to working esports into a sci-fi story. :| I need to get off my ass and write more.

Gundam Build Fighters makes me want to buy a Gundam model. Their plan is working.

Look at that animation

The budget goes ever low and low

I don't get what the ice is supposed to be doing.

When the ice comes out and pauses before leaving his hand, I picture the ice saying "hey." in the Family Guy "ooooh nooooo" voice

lol the reactions

But yeah I have a feeling there will be other wonderful moments of budget and quality over the course of the series

FINALLY got to watch ChrisG vs. FChamp Canada Cup. Pretty stellar play on both sides and looked like the biggest difference is not just the crazy Dorm play but how Magneto dealt with Soul Fists with magnetic blasts and movement rather than blocking.

Gonna make a big analysis post on it either today or tomorrow.

A lot of people didn't realize the game changing match up stuff that FChamp was doing in that match. It went over people's head like the transported man trick in The Prestige.

On the KI news, both the NRS games already do this (it's called hot fixing, please don't buy into this Cloud PR garbage). A lot of PC games including Blizzard games already do this. This is pretty much standard practice in the West for a lot of competitive games and as always Japan is behind with their online implementation of games.

I doubt that either MS or Sony is going to allow pushes of executable code in-game; if you want your game updated, the engine to handle the updates has to be baked from the beginning and the game simply reacts to data being swapped out, not compiled code (of course, what is strictly defined as "data" is nebulous and compiled code could be considered data, but I assume MS and Sony both have provisions in place to prevent that).

Remember, PC games generally don't have a restriction of what they can download and install on a user's PC (unless it is through a games distributor like Steam and they have requirements for compiled code pushes)

From the standpoint of whether or not one should actually buy a game based on whether or not it enables the cloud, I agree with you, it's stupid PR.

However, if they utilize the very real benefits that I've pointed out in my previous post to create a better experience, are able to be more responsive to the needs of the players as a result, then who cares?

As a technologist, I'm very excited for the potential that this could bring to fighting games on a meta level. However, if the game is fundamentally flawed, it doesn't matter how many meta-benefits the cloud brings. You need the solid foundation of a good game to begin with.

It's a good thing for KI but with great power comes great responsibility. I am expecting broken glitches to be fixed quickly but I hope they hold back on the real balance changes until a few months.

We have the same expectations here. I just don't want them to release a patch two weeks before Evo.

What happened between Aquasilk and Chris Hu?

They watched the archives and he said "OMG, this is what I sound like to people?! How embarrassing."
So Chris Hu convinced Aqua that his voice was actually Aqua's and thats why Aqua still streams forever thinking he has Chris' god-like accent. Chris remains his forever silent friend.

chris hu best in new york.

I just watched Monday's Lv3 Focus. Good breakdown, it's interesting to see how Daigo adapted and changed his fireball game in the exhibition. Maybe in the future Infiltration can use ex Demon Flip to hit Daigo at that n+1 range.
