It does. You unlock different weapons that drop from each mosnter that alter the damage done by each class. Each class is very unique.
After watching that IGN video, it seems impossible to say that.

From people who've played it, how's the balancing in this?
Do you feel that it's balanced so that you'll die sometimes or often, or is it evenly balanced where if you have more characters, your chances of victory increase? I'm genuinely curious about this.
Edit: I find it odd that you enter battles with a randomly-chosen party, as if your skillsets don't seem to matter or whatever FF characters you choose (who could probably provide defensive or attack passive skills in other games) simply don't factor in battle outside of what animations they may execute.
I have to say, though, that I like the battle backgrounds--it's interesting to see the 3D FFs in 2D like that.
Im level 60, and I think your max. party is of 32 members but you keep receiving new classes. They enter randomly in your party btw. Each battle has four stages with different monsters. In each of these four the dead characters are replaced randomly by other classes. The premium characters you bought are fixed though. The fact that you cant choose which characters you include help balacing things. I died a few times in the seventh stage, so I recommend grinding a bit before facing the bosses. I think its pretty well balanced.
holy shit especially at not even getting to pick the characters you actually wanted to use
Nope. It's random every battle. I of course didn't realize this until after I had wasted my money. You don't get to pick your party? You sure?
Damn, did you at least say #YOLO when you bough all those characters? xDNope. It's random every battle. I of course didn't realize this until after I had wasted my money.
Not yet. It's Wainwright school of employment.worse.
He doesn't.
Chaos Rings got a 9 and Chaos Rings 2 an 8.5 (standards had went up by that point).
TWEWY iOS got a 9.5.
BTW: All The Bravest currently holds a 3.5/5 rating on the German App Store. So apperently a lot of people don't even think the game is thaaaat bad.
You don't even get to pick which characters you buy. With real honest-to-goodness I-should-have-bought-a-Coke money.

If these reviews prevent at least one poor soul from getting suckered into buying this pos, they were worth it.Yeah, well, these are really great games that actually have a lot of content with deep gameplay (especially TWEWY), and compared to these games All The Braves is indeed a 2.5, but it was not even meant to be in the same league with these games. And that is why I wonder why these reviews even were made!?
I'm pretty sure I've played better games with ripped 8-bit and 16bit FF sprites. On Newgrounds. For free. 10 years ago.Someone should make a flash replica of the game and release it for free.

Well...WHY EVEN REVIEWING IT?
... I think this highlights part of it. Most of us who are Square Enix fans, as in "maybe we like the Eidos stuff but we want Square Enix" are disappointed at how little we've seen from them lately, and while we're hoping they announce an FF we can really get excited for or hoping stuff like FF Type-0 and Bravely Default get localized they go and release... this. A cheap cash in on fanservice attached to a "game" model that's utterly repugnant, potentially representing just how badly SE's fallen if you want to look deeply into it and what other companies may consider. Reviewing this seems to serve mainly as a warning to others and to send a signal to SE that this is not acceptable. Hopefully either this type of "game" goes nowhere or crashes spectacularly, or at least it stays on the side and doesn't undermine more legitimate games. This is pretty disgusting. A game with absolutely no substance with this type of model. But aren't a whole lot of mobile/social games based around this exact same model?
If these reviews prevent at least one poor soul from getting suckered into buying this pos, they were worth it.
I also feel like I gave a fairly solid explanation in my last reply. It used to be that Square-Enix Japan made games with "Final Fantasy" in the title were worth paying attention to. It's important that people are informed that this is not the case with this game, so they can avoid it accordingly.
Completely in line with what I expect from phone gaming.
Oh man, you're over here with "the good old days" rant too eh. I agree. Crystal Chronicles and Dirge of Cerberus are classics.
Square-Enix's new motto: "Hey we could be worse!"

I thought of a way to fix and make this an actual game.
Different swipes made with a finger will do a specific action. If someone swipes a "U" with their finger on the screen, the black magic group will cast a fire spell. Tapping the screen twice could make the fighter class attack, swiping a vertical line could mean all the units do a normal attack.
Let the player create or use stock swiping gestures to give direction to specific classes. For example, the player creates an "H" swipe that would make the white magic group heal another specific group of units, or even heal the entire party but the entire party would receive less HP.
So something like that and remove every automatic function of the game and maybe it could be called a videogame.
what kinds of phone games are you buying for 4 bucks?!
If the core of your argument is that FF side projects were always shit, at least I got you to agree that this game is shit as well.Oh man, you're over here with "the good old days" rant too eh. I agree. Crystal Chronicles and Dirge of Cerberus are classics.
More like, I'm a fucking idiot #FOSHO.Damn, did you at least say #YOLO when you bough all those characters? xD p
Compared to this and their output this generation? Yeah they were.
At least those spin offs didn't use the same cast of characters that have the redeeming qualities of a public toilet seat.
They were games that involved actual gameplay, so yeah they are classics compared to this drivel they're trying to pass off as a FF title.
EDIT:- Beaten by Emitan, Derrick01, and MormaPope
There's one more. Every three hours you get a fever, and every two hours your whole party gets restored, even in battle. So if you're fighting some hard enemy and you're down to two-three characters, just press the Home button, open the Settings (your phone settings) and fast forward your current clock by 3 hours. Now open ATB again, you will have a full party again, with Fever ready to go. No need to buy the hourglass.you have to either wait for your characters to revive (three minutes per character, or up to two hours), exit the battle and try again (pointless, since again, there's no strategy), or pay Square Enix real money to revive your party.
Zero, this is my first iphone purchase ever. I guess I'm still immune to the perceived value of games on this (terrible) gaming platform. Most games are $1 no? And those are shit. So $3 extra for something from Square. No one here is new to Square tax. Hell, a costume in 13-2 is $3. I also remember duckroll going crazy for Dissidia costumes. How much are those? $4 for a few hours of FF collectathon and sprite loving? I can afford it.
But those games weren't cash grabs using the FF name? Hell, even Tactics employed that..tactic.
No no, you don't understand.
It's not supposed to be strategic. Or interesting. Or good.
It's just a timewaster. Like scratching your ass and smelling your finger. Or picking your nose and eating the booger. Just something to waste a couple seconds at a traffic light, you know?
If the core of your argument is that FF side projects were always shit, at least I got you to agree that this game is shit as well.
(For the record, I think both of the games you mentioned were infinitely more worthwhile than this)
Man, I don't even know why we're arguing. We're on the same side after all.of course it's shit.
It's a few dollars of a phone game, of course it's shit. The whole crux of my argument is why is Square being singled out for putting out a game in a marketplace of equally bad games with equally dumb dlc. Because you guys "expect more" from Square? C'mon now, time to grow up, guys. Let them generate some revenue like everyone else. Calling the game shallow or bad is fine, it's the weird sainthood bestowed on Square that weirds me out. Like they haven't been a slimey company for YEARS lol.

It's not an RPG. And moving through overlands and dungeons on a touch screen is exactly what got me to quickly abandon playing the shitty 16bit ioS FF that SE created. No moving through overlands or dungeons. You just hop from one battle to the next, rubbing your fingers across the screen and that's it?
As long as you realise and concede that all the bravest is a shit game, I don't think we have anything to argue about. The difference being all phone games are shit, but plenty buy them. You're on neogaf dude..you're surrounded by people who play shit games and still enjoy them.
This game costs 4x as much as the average game on the platform. With this business model you would expect the game to be FREE.
And why are you defending it when you are calling it shit? Why are you comparing it to phone games you admit that you have never played?
