Final Fantasy IV Compilation Coming to PSP

Indeed, unless they've changed the script dramatically, they already have fully translated scripts for both FF4 and The After.

FF4's pretty popular here, it'll get some sales. The only way I can see this not coming is if their financial situation is much worse then they are letting on or the PSP2 launches before this game would release here, which shouldn't be the case.

they released kh recom years after the ps2 was dead already,in europe they published persona 4 even later (in 2009!)

do you really believe they will stop releasing umd versions in the next 6+ months?lol

where is my god damn VI remake !
You and I can only dream. I have been waiting patiently for a long time. I figured after the IV remake V would have Come along and eventually VI, instead we got IV remade again.

PS2 is a juggernaut of an install base... one might make the argument that it is still not dead.

PSP is a system that's been weak in the west for years. It's not really comparable. As soon as most releases slow, It will be kicked off store shelves quickly.

I still think it has some life in it here, even if the PSP2 announcement hits in E3 I doubt everyone's going to toss their PSPs out then as the PSP2 probably wouldn't even hit until November. Not to mention MH3 will probably keep it relevant in Japan for a few more months too.

Fairly strong lineup for the first half of next year for the PSP too, mostly from Square Enix themselves. Don't see why they wouldn't fit this one in too, especially considering the prior fact that most of the script work is already done for them and that it's FF4, which is probably a good free 100,000 sales in itself.

Well, lets just say that if Square Enix does decide to pass on this here, then I think it's really time to start worrying about them... 'cuz something's definitely amiss if they can't localize a port of a popular FF game.

I think it will come out. The situation is pretty analogous to the Advance titles. IV, V and VI Advance all came out well into DS-domination and after the death of GBA in general.

Oh wow, it looks really cool, except for Rosa. She looks awful.

Didn't Nintendo localize V and VI? But yeah, I think it'll come over as well.

Oh shit...this is getting the FF I and FF II PSP treatment? This is giving me so much hope for FF VI. I really hope we get a proper retweaked 2D version of FF VI as opposed to the DS remake garbage we've been getting so far.

Though it could be on the 3DS, which would at least give us GOOD 3d.

IV is the more easily ported one, plus it has a direct sequel in The After Years for added incentive. I do hope they use whatever engine they have for The After Years for FFIV here in order to avert the problems of the Advance port.

Not to mention that FFV and VI need remakes at this stage. (Though a less borked 2d port wouldn't hurt in the case of FFVI.)

Man, this is giving me so much hope for eventual 2D facelifts/ports/whatevers on the PSP for FFs V and VI. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

They redid the music in I & II on the PSP, so no reason to believe they won't for this new version. Or will they just recycle the DS' soundtrack? Hmmmm

I'm pretty sure FF I and II PSP music is from the PSX version actually.

There no way it's not coming over. There hasn't been a Final Fantasy to not make it over since Before Crisis and that was a cellphone game. Even After Years, a much later cellphone game has made it over. Everything Final Fantasy will make it over.

Even if you're worried about the PSP failing, an iPhone version is not unlikely considering the FF1 and 2 ports and the upcoming FFT and SoM.

Guess I'm getting FF4 for the fourth time!

Read most of the replies..I'm passing on this FF title..first time, I've passed on a Remake of a remake of a remake or literally being reprinted to many times...Come on SE..bring on FFVI for crying out loud...

You honestly think any 3d remakes are going to the DS? Especially with the 3DS launch around the corner?

The DS could play GBA games though.

I still can't see the PSP2 causing much a problem for this. Not to say it CAN'T happen, but yeah. Even if the PSP2 is announced at E3 it won't come out right then and there. It likely won't launch until Q4 2011. This game would have more than enough time to come out by then. And even then, it's a FF game, and a popular one at that. It's not like a small-name title with a niche-of-a-niche buyer base.

Amazon's listing says the original SNES soundtrack is included, cool. And a Beastiary! (Something TAY lacked.)

i'd smile if they remake VII-IX with the same style one day.
That would be interesting, I'd be game for that. III, V & VI first please though.

So, wait is FFIV going to have a selectable soundtrack? I thought the OST would be arranged for this version.
We don't really know yet. The Amazon page is the first place that's mentioned the SNES soundtrack being available, and it's unclear if it's selectable or just a bonus sound test type deal. (That's assuming that Amazon has their facts straight, we'll know more when SE officially announces it for the US.)

nice to see SE start ditching their premium on some games. This better be out on PSN or its not getting bought.
