Final Fantasy Type-0 HD - Character Trailer

This IS getting a better treatment than KH and FFX though, the biggest difference is that they are apparently not re-recording the OST (which they don't need).

You're wrong here. They're definitely re-recording the entire OST. Ishimoto posts on his twitter updates about it quite frequently.

Oh, well then...

Also, for those that missed the first trailer of this game.

This is definitely more than just "minimal graphical update".

Type-0 HD's case makes it look almost like a full remake, considering lighting, models, special effects, resolution, music and textures are all remade anew. It's also a "new game" for most of us, and it includes a cool demo too.

What I don't like though is the visual style they went for, strictly different from the original and for now, inferior.

That said, I welcome any new FF with great enthusiasm and I hope I'll have fun with this.

They need to hire a better narrator or better script writing.
If I were SE, I would ask Ubisoft on what marketing team they are using because this trailer is awful.

Why would anyone wants to see a flute and slow mace combat? Yeah, that looks fun...

I preordered this yesterday. It gives me Ivalice vibes! I could definitely go for a more "adult" Final Fantasy. I'm avoiding learning to much about it so I can have a fresh first experience, plus preordering will pretty much ensure me the XV demo, right? I suppose that marketing play worked...

It's a japanese rpg, weirdness is expected but yes, those things turn me off too nowdays :D I can reason with it in a MH title, but here when they try to show a serious warfare, it just looks akward. Anyway, I take this over any Dragon Age, Call of Duty, Destiny that comes out.

How about expecting SE to not release a PSP game on next generation consoles with minimal graphical updates? At full price? And attaching a demo for a highly anticipated game to bait people into paying full price?

But this is SE, so nobody should've expected them to not do the above.

You don't have to buy it.

Well the flute shows off skills other than direct damage and slow, heavy weapons are a different style of play.

Sometimes I wonder if people honestly expect a PSP game to actually look like a PS4 one, like such a thing is even possible without said game being a complete remake.

Is this how every Type-0 thread will go?

People complaining about the price and graphics? The Vita is dead and the PS3/360 will be by next year....plus getting the audience built on the Ps4 and XB1 is rather important. It's built off of a PSP game so of course it won't look super amazing. Could it be cheaper? Yeah but if "remasters" of games we just got last year are able to be full price....why wouldn't a game that we never fucking got and still seems to have a lot of effort put into it not be? It's not like they just straight ported the PSP version and asked for 60....

How much of this negativity due to them trolling about FFVII? Because there isn't a lot of logic being used in these threads lately.

I just think that GAF is not interested in Type-0, so they discuss other stuff (Vita port begging, price complaints, demo, SE hate, etc).

It's normal really, I think a lot of people don't even plan on getting the game, so they're just here for the ride.

That flute girl was hilarious. All la de da dancing around while her friends fight some giant robot.

"I'm helping!!"

I remember people saying it is difficult? Is it?

It's very easy for a character to die in this game, but the only tricky battles are the bosses unless you chain battles. You gameover only when your entire team wipes out. Don't mess around and you should be fine.

The game offers new content every new game cycle. For example, the hardest boss in the game can only be fought once you hit the 2nd new game + cycle.

I can't say I don't like having new trailers so often, gotta say though that I've missed a few. Better the than the BbS/2.5 spoiler trailers.

Just wait for the OT, they'll all be gone.

Every time they show new footage of this game, it looks more and more unappealing. Janky animations, bad camera-work, ugly setting... Won't get this, especially now that DmC: DE is coming out the same day.

I'm definitely interested, but I'll be waiting for a more appropriate price.

The gameplay looks really interesting in my opinion; I have always wanted to play an action-oriented FF game with a darker story.

DmC:DE? Disgusting. They seriously need to rework the physics and hitboxes of that game for it to be taken seriously.

anyone know why they are named after cards? and where are the rest of the cards?

Just because SE thought it would be witty to do so. The default and arguably main character in the game is named Ace, and his weapon of choice is using a deck of cards telekinetically to fight. Ace is well, the ace of his team. However, it doesn't mean that King or Queen are royalty, or hold any more importance in the story than say Trey or Seven (well maybe Queen does).

Don't say that. If you don't buy it at full price it's obviously because you hate the game and Square Enix.

yes because thats exactly what I meant...

don't be that guy.

If you don't feel like it is worth it at full price...cool. I get that. I just wish people would get over it by now....

It is just weird that this was one of those games that people were bitching at SE that they wouldn't localize for YEEEARS and yet now people are acting like they never wanted it....It is just confusing to me. Like where they just asking for it to fit in or something? I too wish it was cheaper but its not and I will deal with it instead of whining about the same shit in every thread.

and again if you look at things logically instead of just running in threads to post the same shit (not you) , you would be able to look at things realistically. The Vita and PS3/360 being dead, the fact that even if it isn't ps4 quality there have been some upgrades and additions, the fact that we the game hasn't been released outside of Japan before, and the most important part, because people have shown that they have bought remasters of games they already fucking played where the only upgrade is the graphics being slightly sharper at full price....explains everything about those flaws (price and graphics). You don't have to buy it if you don't feel like it is worth your cash...but I do wish people would take time to look at things with some goddam logic for once.

GAF has become super unreadable because of this idea that being super negative about everything makes you unbiased and critical....when it doesn't exactly work that way.

I wasn't talking about you. But anyway, I just wrote this yesterday. Type-0 is there, isn't it? I'm interested in the game, just because I value my money doesn't mean I do not appreciate Square Enix for porting this or anything.

Beautiful post.

I'll be frank and say the English trailers for this game have been awful but I'm excited for this game. I played the demo on the PSP years ago and it was fantastic.

For anyone who has played the game, was the AI good enough that you could actually play support and have the other members do all the hard work?
AI is shit but they're generally pretty good with using Cure when you need it. They can't seem to attack very efficiently though, so don't rely on them.

You don't have to buy it.

Oh, I'm not allowed to criticize? Okay.

Beaides, I can't buy it due to not having a PS4. If I did, I would be getting it day 1. It's still a new FF game I've never played plus a demo for one I'm anticipating. Just because I criticize SE doesn't mean I won't buy their product (despite how moronic that sounds).

I would pay full price if they are going to release it on PC.

For those who are arguing about the price; this is how the market works. SE is a publisher whose goal is to run successful business, and the high demand for an HD remaster/localization presented an opportunity to release the game at high price. Also, localization and the graphics feature that they included do cost a lot (they don't justify a 60$ price tag though unless they expect low PS4/Xbone sales).

But your criticisms stem from ignorance. This is definitely not just a "minimal graphical update." For one, the game was never released outside of Japan, and two, its soundtrack is getting remastered, and the game received a major graphical overhaul. I'd say that's very much worthy of a price tag of $60.

It's just the same thing in every Type-0 thread. Not calling you out. The game is what it is right now. Of course the game could be cheaper but it's not.

People can disagree with the pricing if they want. Other HD remasters have been cheaper so people's expectations are in line with that. There is nothing wrong with that.

I'm sorry, but this is SquareEnix's issue to solve, and it means nothing to me as a consumer. A great way to get customers on-board is by offering an attractive and appropriate value for their dollar, which includes aspects such as gameplay length, but it also includes other aspects like production values. I could play Pure Chess for 1,000 hours, but there is no way I would spend $60 on a copy of Pure Chess. Some people may disagree, but there is more to a game's monetary value than the sheer number of hours one can potentially spend playing it, especially since a game's presentation relates directly to the immersion one experiences while playing it.

It's built off of a PSP game so of course it won't look super amazing. Could it be cheaper? Yeah
I believe an apt comparison would be if Konami decided to sell the HD Collection version of Peace Walker by itself at $60 and then gate the demo for The Phantom Pain behind it as a pre-order incentive. Peace Walker was a great game on the PSP that few people played, but it was designed with handheld gaming in mind. It definitely was not the star of the show in the HD Collection, and it was instead presented in the HD package as what it actually was: an added-value bonus.

Looking at the largely barren and blocky environments of Zero, one can easily deduce from the trailer alone that this game was intended to be played on a handheld, and it would be completely out of its depth directly competing against games with the scope of Dragon Age Inquisition, The Witcher III, and Final Fantasy XV, so why on earth would it not be priced accordingly?

but if "remasters" of games we just got last year are able to be full price....why wouldn't a game that we never fucking got and still seems to have a lot of effort put into it not be? It's not like they just straight ported the PSP version and asked for 60....
The only games I can think of that had full-priced Definitive Editions a year after their last-gen releases were Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto V, and The Last of US. However, at the time of their each game's debut, they were some of the best-looking games on current-gen consoles. The graphical updates Zero has received, while significant, still make it look closer to the PS4 version of a Dynasty Warriors game than anything else.

Man after looking at the trailer, this is . . . underwhelming to say the least. I find this depressing as if I buy this, it will be the first ps4 game I play . . .
