Final Fantasy Type-0 HD - Character Trailer

He's in the game, but his role is very important to the world and in itself, a spoiler.

Gilgamesh has never been as important as he is to the plot since FFV.

I played Type 0 over 50 times. I know what his role is and I even wrote up a big theory on him.

I'd post it but it's way too big.

It looks great, but those textures look like an eye sore. They should have brought in the artists and redone the textures rather than upscale them. Also some of those textures seem original PSP assets, they need to fix that.

It seems like the environments are bringing down the look rather than anything else. They probably should have pumped more polygons into the architecture

It seems like this might be a case of re-using the PSP cut-scenes at a higher resolution, and upgrading the the actual visuals for the gameplay. The worst textures and AA by far are in the cut-scenes, but the in-game characters look much cleaner.

Wow, that's incredible. You must have spent a few thousand hours on it.

Wow those graphics look weird as hell. So clean and sort of sterile. Oh well, I'm still in for this on Day One.

I preordered it for the FFXV demo and because I am intrigued by the combat/pace of battles as well as the dark story (from what I have read).

As an aside, is that Porcupine Tree's Deadwing cover? I love that band.

Are all those main characters? How does the game balance chraracter development?

That trailer features only about half the main cast. And it doesn't balance character development because there is none.

Still fun as hell though and the music is excellent. If I had a PS4 I'd be jumping on this remaster day 1. I hope it comes to PC in the meantime.

For anyone who has played the game, was the AI good enough that you could actually play support and have the other members do all the hard work?
No, AI was not good. However, the enemy AI is pretty dumb too, so largely the 'difficulty' stems from The Camera.

Of the cast of characters, barring the sections where I had to play as specific characters, Flute Girl (Deuce), Mace Girl (Cinque), Kung Fu Boy (Eight), Samurai Wannabe (Jack), and Emo Drills Kid (I forgot his name, and he was one of the characters that actually had a name)—I did not use much. Primarily because of the focus on Kill Sight, which allowed you to do great damage or kill an enemy in one blow in a small time window, characters that are slow (flute, mace, katana) or have crap range (fisticuffs) take backseat to characters that spit out attacks extremely quickly without much punishment in animation (Gun Girl, Ace, and I guess the Archer and the Revolver kids count).

I don't play as Emo Drills Kid because he is lame. I don't like Rem, his NotGirlfriend that he has to protect, as a character in the story either, but she is a fast combat character.

Am I the only one here who is ok with this game and can't wait to buy it full price day 1 because I consider it a whole new game not only a great remaster?

You and me both.

I'm just glad we're finally getting a localization. A Final Fantasy game of this scale, with this kind of art direction and gameplay is an instant-buy for me. I would've payed 60$ for this on PSP, so I'm really glad we're getting this with reworked graphics and soundtrack.

Oh, well then...

Also, for those that missed the first trailer of this game.

This is definitely more than just "minimal graphical update".

The problem is not the graphics but game and level design which was made with a handheld in mind.

Haven't really watched too much footage of this game yet, but is that depth of field effect actually like that during play? It gives it a really cool look.

Deuce is useful as an attack character too, since her normal attacks are magical and non-elemental, so they usually deal a lot of damage to almost any enemy.

As for the AI. The normal AI for your team is not very useful (if they include Academy Backup that is ten times better), the enemies are very standard enemies (nothing too good, nothing too bad), some bosses are actually pretty tough though.

People can disagree with the pricing if they want. Other HD remasters have been cheaper so people's expectations are in line with that. There is nothing wrong with that.
The problem is that every thread about this game is nothing but that. You have the people going "Not paying full price, fuck you SE.", "Should have been Vita", etc.

And I know for sure that the OT will be just people who bought it for the demo and will hate Type-0 itself because it plays like the handheld game it is.

Well yeah, that's what it always was.

It's not a remake...

You can't blame people when SE fumbled the release of this game for so long as they did.

I'm getting it mostly for the actual game, though the XV demo is nice. I did play around with the fan translated version of Type-0 on my PSP, and it was decent, though it definitely had some big problems I'm sure people will complain of when it comes out. I'm still curious enough to try and play it on console, though (my PSP is on the fritz).

And yeah, Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson are my favorite musicians. Love 'em. Saw them live a bunch of times (and I'm on a few of their dvds!)

People asking where Type-0 fans are.

1. I wanted this for PSP or Vita.
2. I am actually playing the PSP version now.
3. It doesn't look good enough (graphically and camera) for me to pay $60.
4. A demo for FFXV won't make me shell out $60 for this as it is not worth it to me.
