Final Fantasy Type-0 HD contains both JP and EN voice, Hexadrive developing

I'm a believer in Hexadrive. They're heroes. That Okami HD remaster was such an amazing experience and such an insane upgrade... plus I believe they did Wind Waker HD too right?

Hexadrive do good work. Excellent choice.

I was wondering if they'd roped in the FFX HD company to do this. I wonder what they're working on (XII HD right!?)

Is there a full list anywhere of what they've worked on? Everything I've played so far has been fantastically handled.

Yes they have a list on their own site: http://hexadrive.jp/product/

For those who are curious, Hexadrive was founded by Masakazu Matsushita, a longtime programmer at Capcom. He was the lead programmer on Power Stone 2, Devil May Cry 3, and Lost Planet. He was also the project manager for Lost Planet before leaving Capcom to start up Hexadrive.

I cannot believe they were responsible for horrendous Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D. Maybe they were the only ones able to make it run on the hardware.

Great to hear that the japanese release will have both languages. Makes it easier for me to preorder now. Just wonder if I'm crazy enough to get the special edition or not.

I think they have much more experience doing enhanced up-ports rather than constrained down-ports, so it's understandable.

Hexadrive? Nice, this remake is in good hands... SE pulled their head out of their ass and actually showed some really cool stuff this TGS.

So what you're saying is I have a new idol?

I honestly never thought I'd see the day we'd get dual audio in a North American release of a Final Fantasy game. I've been keeping my hype in check throughout all of TGS, but this is unequivocally great news.

You should import a japanese copy if that's what you want.

As for me, if the English dub is as bad as some are saying, I'll be playing with japanese voices and french text. :)

It's much more expensive to do that. It's just silly that they can't offer all of the language options for everyone.

I have such a love-hate relationship with regards to being in Asia... Yay! Dual audio! Yay! Dual text!

I'm surprised they didn't make it a preorder bonus or paid DLC.

Maybe they're afraid of reverse importation?

someone at square had their coffee this week and finally got slapped with some reason because they are firing on all cylinders this tgs.

Still not interested in paying $60.

But great news regarding the audio. It's nice seeing Square give more audio options, with Bravely Default having japanese voices and now this one too I truly hope it becomes a standard option for all their future releases.

This week's Famitsu further confirms that Type-0 HD is running on a customized version of Hexadrive's last-generation engine. They've added Direct-X 11 support into the engine. So... it's not even Luminous? Really wonder what's going on with that engine.

well didn't they mention it for FFXV in that tech demo? I don't think the engine is completely dead.

Thank god, Square Enix is doing something right for once. I honestly was just thinking this for FFXV. They better do it for FFXV, Noctis' voice is awesome.
SE made the Japanese voice pre order DLC for Drakengard 3.

Direct-X 11 support?

Makes me wonder if they are going to do a PC version as well.

Yes, that version is specifically for people who want Chinese or Korean text. It's silly but I guess they want a more specific way to track how big the audience is for those languages? It's not a huge issue for normal consumers in Asia because they release the English version anyway.
I also recall that there was a lot of reverse importation going on earlier on with the 360 and crazy good Asian copy deals. Wonder if they want to make sure they don't see any of that this time around (if that's still a thing anyway.)

My speculative guess is the remaster started on PS3, which would explain Hexadrive as the developer and was moved over to PS4 to buff the domestic userbase before XV. Although it could just be Hexadrive being competent while SE being incompetent tech wise and Luminous collapsing on itself, like the last engine they tried to push.

It isn't but at this point it seems obvious that it still isn't ready for general use. Another sign that Hashimoto left because things weren't going well, rather than him leaving because the engine was pretty much done. The KH interview in Famitsu also mentions that they're still having trouble with rendering on the engine, so right now Nomura is focused on selecting worlds, writing the scenario, and designing new costumes for Sora and Riku. Sounds like a huge mess to me.

Maybe Luminous would've been an option if they developed it in-house, and Hexadrive's just more comfortable with their own engine.
