Final Fantasy Type-0 PSP vs. PS4 comparison video

Reminds me of PS3 Tales of games. Too clean for real art direction.
And ugh at the world map. It feels like an early ps2 game with AA.
I gotta say I'm impressed otherwise, based Hexadrive, the lightning (lol) looks pretty good. But 30fps for a game that twitchy... Will wait for the bomba to make an opinion on the game.

Why is this $60?

It looks ok, way better than the PSP original, but it doesn't look like it is worth $60 in 2015.
Comes down to personal taste.

Improvements are big enough to justify 40-50€ imo. It's not up to AAA console standards but it looks solid enough for 'JRPG standards'. It's more than just a resolution bump. They added lighting, geometry, motion blur and new character models.

Look at the difference at 1:39 (scorpion boss battle)

Looks like the psp version, but shinier and with anti-aliasing. Honestly looks like this could have been done on vita.

that camera looks a bit wonky, but ill take it, i need that ffxv demo x)

what i take from this video is that SE is really good at making good looking games on the psp

Because $$$

SE Japan haven't anything else in terms of major offline worldwide releases this year, so they're treating this as one.

I don't think this is worth the full asking price either, so I'm not jumping in until later. Not having the demo would be annoying, but I can live without it.

Yeah, colors looks so much better on the psp version, dynamic lighitng and stuff seems to have flattened everything a bit...and it also feels more empty for some reason?
Yep, maybe because the blurriness and jaggies make your mind fill in detail that actually isn't there.

Hmmm not at that resolution. I've also never seen a Vita game with those insane effects.

Honestly this looks awesome considering it was a psp game.

$60 is too steep though. I would be in day 1 at $40, but with Bloodborne coming out a week later, I can wait for a price drop.

Hmm. I wasn't initially excited about this game, but it looks pretty good now that I see it in action. Glad I preordered on that Walmart pricing error.

Haven't seen this answered anywhere, but if I get this game digitally will I still get the FFXV demo? Or is it only for the boxed 'Day 1 Edition'.

Digital gets it as well. I wonder how they'll do it digitally, I doubt it will be only day 1 purchases that get it, probably some sort of time limit.

Good to know! I'll bet it'll be a promotion that lasts a week, until the store updates again. That would make sense since you could probably get the Day 1 Edition way after day 1. I mean look at the Xbox One Day 1 Edition.

I generally prefer the red tone of the PSP version but the blue is a huge improvement for the world map. It will be fun to wander around a good old fashioned world map. Its been awhile

I was actually thinking about the demo being a bonus for the digital pre-order.

As others have said I really prefer the coloration on the PSP version. It looks less flat and there's no reason why the HD version has to have so much bloom.

That being said the HD version clearly has a much better framerate (which is a huge plus) and the benefit of vastly increased resolution so that you can actually see a lot more of the fine details the game has to offer.

At this point I am just excited to see the game released over here and will happily play the HD version.

The colour scheme took a major downgrade and there's no reason why it isn't running at 60fps. That being said, I'm still buying it day one.

World map looks better than I expected.

If I had to guess I'd say it's not 60 because they tied game logic to 30. If they never fixed Dark Souls 2 problem with weapon durability on PC, I can imagine how difficult it would be for something deeper.

Also, probably the best looking HD remaster out there, Hexadrive really putting in the work. I hope they get FFXII too.

SE pushed the PSP the farthest. Their games often look better than most PS2 games, it's crazy.

I hope SaGa sells well and SE starts developing for the Vita as well. They could do so much with it...

There are many games on PS3 that look better IMO (minus the resolution).

I agree, my point was that it is using some effects which are by themselves slightly better than some PS360 games, but because of other factors - like the poor quality of most of the assets and the sparse level design and the like - the overall 'visual value' is like something between a really high budget Vita game and PS3.

Pick any mainline FF game outside of FF VI and that quote would probably be appropriate.

Well my list isn't "all of GAF." The way I choose GAFers for my list is that I take a game I like or dislike, and read topics about that game. Then I look for GAFers who have a point of view that is diametrically opposed to mine, and who goes through the effort to justify and explain how they arrived at their viewpoint in well articulated detail. When a poster has a position I can respect even when I disagree, that's when I know their opinion is something of value to me.

Given these guidelines, the trusted GAFer list I have usually does not have as wide a range of views on products as I am finding for Type-0. And I don't mean that in other games there's not a spectrum, but it's usually between something like "mediocre" and "pretty good" not something like "holy fuck it's awful" and "it's a really great game I love it."

It is not my deal breaker. I'm going to buy it.

However, the graphic of this game is not even better than FF XIV on PS4 and FF XIV can run steady at 60 FPS.

Have you even played FF14 on PS4? Outside of dungeons, your room and looking at the sky the game can run anywhere from high/mid-40s to low and sub-20s when panning the camera in certain areas.

I'm still middle of the road on this one.
The biggest issue is that it comes out in March close to bloodborne.
Really not trying to juggle 2 RPGs.

I think looks great, probably the best they could have done without just completely redoing the entire game in modern FF console style.

Inside scene textures of stuff looks pretty bland, which was odd that they spent so much time on that pan of one of the rooms. At least battle looks a bit better.

So i am not sure what people really expect from an HD port of a PSP game....

I wouldnt have got my hopes up in visuals. Regardless, looking forward to playing it in march on the TV screen. Already played it on psp.

I'm couldn't agree more. I actually think it looks pretty damn amazing visually for a remastered PSP game. Visuals don't bother me one bit.

AUGH'

Yet another game that is turning into a buy which was up to this point a solid Gamefly rental.

of course there is the matter of the FFXV demo but something tells me SE will soon after launch have the demo available for all buyers. Likely using the demo to try and squeeze every possible dime out of the game. We'll see.

Who is that? Knowing our luck they will port it to iOS/mobile. lol

Gackt is a singer. Genesis from CC has his appearance and voice.

Some people say that Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core only happened because at one point Gackt went "Oh yeah, I love FF7, I wish there was more of it". That's how influential he is over there.

porting to mobile is as likely as a digital/remaster version of the game.

Free version will be the tech demo they showed at TGS. No release date for that though...
