I'm playing this entirely via remote play on my Vita in a misguided attempt to lash out at Square-Enix for refusing to port this for so long. You will not regret not caring about this scathing indictment on your treatment of Western gamers. Also, I am a moron and am excited to finally play this.

They only thing that's really ugly are the extremely low polygon monster models. It's really distracting. They could use some tesselation.

They show off the upgrade in the trailer at the beginning, but it's still a port of a PSP game. They're not going to remake it.

It's not on the US Square-Enix press site, but hopefully it's somewhere on the JP TGS press kit. Knowing square though, I'd imagine it's at best youtube exclusive for a few days, at worse for ever...

I've already played Type 0 and it is what it is. An action rpg from SE. None of them(KH, BBS, DoM,) have ever been great like say Ys. Floaty. Overly animated. Type 0 was no different. I still had some fun with it. Really all I would like is for the game to be less grindy and I don't think thats going to be hard to fix.

The bland levels and story. No I doubt those are being fixed. The geometry is still simple like a PSP game. It just has a PS4 HD paint over it. The paint does look good though and they sure threw in a lot of motion blur.

So either way I'm pretty happy to play this.

That looked exactly like a upres of a PSP game to me... Not sure what I'm missing that everyone saw. Looks like they upgraded some models and added dynamic lights but still very much a PSP game. Anyway looks good enough either way. Still not sure how it'll be received but I'm glad it's coming over.
