Final Fantasy Type-0 TGS trailer

I pre-ordered it even though I need to move to a new house by the end of the year and I'm poor PRIORITIES MAN

PRIORITIES

The gameplay looks really smooth from the HD version footage. I'll definitely be picking this up, half because I'm interested and half because of that FFXV demo voucher.

Would be cool if the new God Eater port on PS4 got the same treatment.

Have you ever played a PSP game? You're blind!

Yes. Some of this one even. Watching it again it really looks like the PSP version running at 1080p with nicer lighting. Look at the textures on the environment. I'm just worried that expectations are still too high I guess. I'm not saying it doesn't look good but I think people are still expecting too much considering the source assets.

That looked exactly like a upres of a PSP game to me... Not sure what I'm missing that everyone saw. Looks like they upgraded some models and added dynamic lights but still very much a PSP game. Anyway looks good enough either way. Still not sure how it'll be received but I'm glad it's coming over.

Were you watching on 144p?
No. Just...no.

No way. Not even in an emulator with higher resolution and filters does it look that good. That said, it easily looks like a 2008 PS3 game. Maybe 2009. More importantly, FFXIII on Steam confirmation when???

it seems like a weird mix of next-gen effects, last-gen effects, and some PSP popping out now and then. Really bizarre to see how it mashes up, but overall the upgrade is quite impressive for an HD "remaster."

Environmental geometry is the most noticeable issue with the graphics. They are straight copied from the PSP version. However, the texture work and lighting improvements do help to disguise this.

One of the mech enemies is named Nimrod? lol.

I really don't think it does. Thats Type 0 "uprezed" with some other changes thanks to emulation.

This goes further then that. The texture work and character models look much better. Lots of new effects and lighting put this far ahead of a up-rezed psp game as well.

It's just the level geometry that dosen't look beyond psp.

I mean... I admit that in the post that you're quoting. They've added new lighting and redone some character models. I really wish my comment got buried on the bottom of last page instead of the top of this one. I think it looks great. It's clear that the lighting has been upgraded and main character models have been upgraded but to me its roots as a PSP game are clear.

Edit: Also the music is awesome. Maybe we can all be friends again now?

Yeah no wonder this is skipping Vita, it looks phenomenal.

Eh, it's a significant bump in texture quality with replaced animation, all slathered in nice lighting, but you can totally see the PSP game underneath the sheen. And it's still corridor-based with confined spaces, so it's not like it's an open-world beast that is demanding global illumination and persistent simulation. I feel like pricing and maybe engine compatibility (and probably marketing focus) are more factors in leaving Vita off the conversion than actual performance.

That said, the conversion looks good enough that I think a lot of people will be A) satisfied that it's improved enough over the original, and B) okay with Vita being left out given the extent of the update.

Has anyone played Type-0 for PSP? It got really good reviews, but was never really released over here, so I'm wondering if it's worthy of Day 1 purchase. 2015 line up is look stacked. . .

Fished this out of the official website. Sorry if it has been posted again

So much for the "just an hd remaster". This looks almost like a full remake to me. It's glorious!

Looks about as good as you can expect for a remaster of a PSP game.

Pretty solid all around, but obviously doesn't hold a candle to XV.

Having played half way through the PSP version, I have to say I have never struggled so much with a game's camera. Hard to tell whether it is being fixed by looking at the trailer. Another thing is the horrible gameplay balance with 1HKO difficulty spikes. I hope they really try to address these 2 things at the very least.

Yeah you can keep repeating that to yourself. Saying the same thing over and over doesn't make it true. The official site actually specifics -exactly- what they have changed and improved: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/fabula/0/introduction.html

- Main character models are improved
- Menus and interface is in high resolution now
- There's a new lighting system
- Full HD
- Controls have been remapped to support the additional buttons and analog functions on controllers
- New difficulty options
- Battle balance has been retuned

It's not a "full remake", it's just a pretty comprehensive remaster. The most impressive thing is probably the new lighting system. Beyond that, most of it is right out of the PSP game, with better textures. Just like every other HD remaster. :P

they did mention they were rebalancing the difficulty curve, which is nice.

personally all i really want is some kind of xp sharing implemented for the class - every other issue is secondary. for the love of god someone please hunt down tabata on the floor and hound him until he promises to fix it!

I said "almost" :P and whatever you say this is - to date - the most impressive "HD re-work" I've seen. That said, no news about the camera?
