Are you serious?

Aside from the good CG, the trailer sucked.

Man Square-Enix's CG is getting outrageous. Goddamn.

Elsewhere, game seems much more interesting than anything in XIII but I'm still not sold on anything else considering the team working on it. We'll see. Graphics need work.

Yay Amano painting :D

This was too much. The HD version was really too much for me. So fucking glorious. I want it now, and yet here I have to wait who knows how long. Damn you Nomura, how can you be so awesome?!

Looks a hell of a lot better than XIII/XIII-2 and Agito, that's for sure.

For some reason the HD trailer doesn't seem like good quality. Are HD trailers too hard SE?

Wow! I'm still LoLing at the people saying this doesn't look good. What I just watched was an orgasm for my eyes! The music seems to me it'll be epic! The combat! I fucking loved Kingdom Hearts combat, so this is great. The Dragon lady? It's a jRPG, you'll always find fantasy creatures, anime inspired things in it. Get over it.

I think this needs to come out first, rather than XIII-2, but thats just me.

Damn, that CG's pretty hot. I really wish all of that exploration stuff had been in FF13 proper though as that's probably the reason I'll check this out. That, and the combat looks pretty fun.

I'm not sold on the story or characters at all. The boy band vibe and the main character brooding till he cannot brood no more isn't appealing at all.

The only negative thing I had, which really isn't a big deal to me, is the way Noctis runs.
Yeah, it's kind of floaty. Plus, he doesn't react to explosions or anything like that. Physics based animation would be nice, but that's probably asking for too much.

At 4:06, there is the most hilarious example of non-animation in the entire trailer. I'm surprised they kept this dud of a scene in the trailer when it looks so bad. Definitely something that should be cut out, never publicly shown, and fixed before release.

No. It's a Japanese action RPG.

But wasn't there a talk of world map and all that jazz ? I mean you can go back to prior areas, etc ?
I tough I read something like that some time ago. That's what I meant by "open world".

That's not really what an open world is, but yes it'll have all that.

That's not what open world means, but okay. Yes there's a world map, and you can explore shit, just like.... most JRPGs with a world map. :P

The music is more impressive than most of the things in this trailer, in my opinion. :)

My bad, I din't mean Fallout like, sorry.
I have nothing against a story being linear when it has to be. I just like exploration and stuff.
Thanks, now I can let the hype flow !

I want the same too. I want to see him flinching like Nathan Drake and stumbling around.

Instead you get a guy who is standing totally upright either getting hit or dodging (hard to tell which) and simply moving backwards by a few meters instantly with zero animation whatsoever and still standing totally upright! :D

It's the same trailer, but the direct feed made the gameplay look so much smoother than the off camera one a few weeks back. It still seems a bit on the weak side, but it looks much better.

Consider me mildly hype. Definitely be picking it up.

Well, to be fair, they did say the graphics(if it includes animations or not is unknown), is better than this trailer.

Hey if I put out something looking like this after 5 years of development, I would want to say the same thing too, regardless if it's true! :lol

IT'S BECAUSE HE HAS NO FEELINGS YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND

It seems the attack of that monster was only programmed so that you'll get hit when his front legs touches you, but not when the rear legs touches you. Maybe they are still using some of the monster animations/collision detection from FFXIII. This wouldn't be a problem in a game like FFXIII where the characters are standing in a fixed position, but in a game like Versus XIII it obviously does when you can freely run around.

I fucking hate kingdom hearts. I hope the story this time isn't some hyper high fantasy madlibs mumbo jumbo nonsense angst drama like FFXIII. Because even if it isn't, the gameplay looks really not fun. Tons of recovery on the sword guy and the gun guy looks about as intuitive as bowguns in Monster Hunter. The non-combat movement animations look really wonky as well. I know they have ten years or whatever to improve it, but I'm not here to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. I can only comment on what they want to show me.

Regardless of her design, I like the fact that dragoons can still use jump.

They were doing so well with the realistic setting until that Behemoth was shown. :/ And then they went the usual fantasy route with the monsters and mechs. Oh well.

Gameplay looks much more interesting than the mainline series at this point. :lol

Uh, its called Final Fantasy. What do you expect, this isn't call of duty.

duckroll: iirc transparencies (alpha and so on) which blood splatters belong to are one of the biggest weak points of PS3 gpu, which is why (according to Digital Foundry) Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 got them replaced them with magical vomit. Maybe it's because of the rating but VSXIII already looks better than FFXIII, it's not impossible to think they already "peaked" so they need to find other ways to push graphics even further.

I know it's trivial and in a 3D action game there are far more important things to worry about, but man I hate these rigid running animation loops. Especially when the character changes direction and instead of leaning a little they just pivot robotically. Maybe Uncharted has spoiled me, but whenever I see something like this I'm reminded of all those hours watching the Persona 4 Endurance Run.

That Batmobile limo is some classy business, though.

GOW3, no problem there with blood and is much more impressive. The blood splatter in NG2 is glitchy anyway.
Though I hated it how they removed it from the PS3 version. Pretty sure TN removed it to have a lower rating, broader appeal (16 instead of 18).

It's a shame that their CGI movies have both sucked, because that is seriously impressive. It's so impressive that the transition between CGI and cutscenes hurt my eyes, and this is not a bad looking game.
Gameplay looks... well, I didn't know what to expect. Combat looks clunky. I'd rather have this over menu-based combat though.

This game is at least the most ambitious project Square-Enix has worked on since The World Ends with You (outsourced). Hopefully that ambition results in great gameplay and a deep story.

CG looked good, any chance of subs coming out for this?

I still have no clue what this game is about, other then a bunch of men in suits and a guy with like 13 swords Archer Fate / Stay Night style.

So this will have an ad-hoc mode? Have they explained how that will work? I vaguely remember hearing it was Monster-Hunter ish, but I fail to see that in the trailer.
