I'm not denying the usefulness of delays here. Just about every major FF release has been delayed in the last 10 years, even further back if we include FFXII lol
FF XII, FF XIII, FFXV. FF XIV 1.0 was launched half-baked, bombed and was subsequently rebooted.

So yes, typical Square Enix.

Weird Release date choice, perhaps they know cyberpunk 2077 will be delayed as well. At the end of this year I bet quite a lot of games will be delayed and pushed to next year.
 
This sucks...I'm out of town that week for work. At least I have that next week off to play it and Animal Crossing.

now what about who have preordered Deluxe and 1st Class Editions already ?
Do they been given something extra who have already paid upfront months before the release?

22nd January given date is when Square will start charging credit cards who reserved 1st class editions, will they push back card charging too by 1 month ?

needs clear updates plz.....
 
Are they also pushing back the March 2021 release on PC and Xbox One?
 
Square just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Sony fans, after hearing about this, are not going to want to purchase FFVII- Remake Part 1 for either PS4 or PS5, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and un-delay FFVII Remake Part 1 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

This is where i ask for a full refund of my pre order.

I have a life i have a schedule.

If i put time aside for march and schedule my april may june etc i have no need to purchase thos title at release.

Now i will just wait for when i have time and by then it will be on sale.

I am not in this to wait around .
You cant deliver on time no problem. I move on to something else.
 
Should just delay it another year or 2 and include the rest of the game.
Seriously, only having Midgar is weak as fuck. That was such a tiny part of the original game, it was like the intro.
I wont be buying it till the full collection is out anyways - at a steep discount.

If they need to delay to make it better to do some final tweaking, that's no big deal and it's only a month. This would have been the perfect opportunity however to release the demo which we all know exists and is literally already uploaded to PSN, so I think it's pretty poor form of them to not do so.
 
I know that dealying its clearly a good point if you want a game to be as polish as possible.

But still sucks that those games that take like forever to be realeased get delayed. I hope all the best anyway.

To be fair Sony doesn't really have much to do with this. They are neither developing nor publishing. They just paid Square to not release it on other platforms for a year.

I would imagine that whatever exclusive time they paid for will start counting when the game actually releases.
So sadly, I imagine the other version will also be effected.
 
I'm perfectly fine with this. The Avengers game got delayed too. Way too many good games at the start of the year so spread them out I say!
 
This is disappointing. However, if it makes for a better game I don't really care.

This is especially strange considering the demo situation. So the demo leaked, no one acknowledged it still, and then they delay the game? Like what the hell? I think the game will be good, but from the outside it really seems like a troubled development cycle.

It is not a 1:1 remake so this is not actually true. Midgar was 5 hours long in the OG. I would bet money on the main quest alone for the remake being longer than that. There also weren't any sidequests in the original Midgar, and this is already confirmed to have multiple.

Also isn't even an accurate statement. Disc 1 ended with
Aerith's death.
Which is probably where Part II will end.

So technically $120 for "Disc 1."

Excited for the game, but its not 100% mandatory, I've played and beat the original so besides seeing what else they done with the game, its just going to be a good time
