1 fight. :p

Why do you think I was raging over Lightning? Lol.

lol, really?, I must really have bad luck, I fought Light and Amodar all weekend to get her.

I'll try a couple times tonight, then I'll advance on the story, I'm 40 hours in and I'm still mid game.

Is the next batch of DLC out tomorrow? I'm ready for that Jihl fight!

There is no Jihl fight. That was a screenshot that appeared in a Chinese forum. No one knows if it is a real leak, or if it's a photoshop. No such DLC has been announced. The next batch Serah's perverted costume and Noel's boring Caius2.0 costume is coming out in Japan today. The Sazh story episode (which also adds the 2 missing card games in the casino) will be out next week. For everyone else, the costumes and the Sazh episode are out next week.

They're rolling out the DLC too slow, I'm loving the game but there's too much coming out on march and I'll loose interest, probably...

Aw, bummer. Not overly interested in the costumes, but big battle DLC is something I'm keen on. A Jihl coliseum battle would have gone nicely with the Sazh DLC, considering their connection. Poor Jihl. Redemption must wait.

But I'll pick up Sazh's stuff for sure, if for no other reason than I want him in my party.

As far as I know its real, as I had heard of the Jihl dlc long before it suddenly leaked on the forum. Source was also 100% right on Sazh dlc. Would actually surprise me if it turns out fake.

Okay, I guess that confirms it is coming eventually. I was just indicating that it has not been announced and that the current source is unconfirmed. Any idea if it's just Jihl though? That doesn't seem to be very appealing in terms of a boss battle and a monster crystal. I'm sure most fans would rather have another classic FF monster boss instead...

I want Squall, give me Squall, Square and I'll forgive you for FFXI, XII and XIV.

I heard of Jihl, Sazh Story Dlc, and one more fight with a monster not from FF13. Dunno if fans would classify that one as classical but we will see.

They'll probably keep it within the XIII universe.

I hope so, at least with game specific main characters. Series wide enemies are cool though. I just don't want a bunch of cross game contamination.

Oh, I thought Omega existed beyond FFV. Hm... never mind. Still, I don't think they're going to invest any more effort than they have to which is probably why they used Jihl.

Omega exists beyond FFV, but the specific design they used in the DLC is the original FFV Omega. :)

Oh, that's what you meant. I see. We'll see what they pop out next. Honestly I want something not cool so people won't buy and support this crappy DLC transaction.

Its just that price is not right, and the release schedule.

I would have bought a decently priced colisuem dlc with 20-30 cool fights included, possibly with a nice story dlc released at the same time to make use of the monsters.

But if this keeps on you gonna pay a shitload of money for a couple of costumes and some new monsters in your party. I am even wondering who is supposed to buy the costumes that come out in a couple of weeks because most people that were interest in the game have completed it for a long time by then and will have moved on to something new ...

This is what they should have done.

They're trying to increase the longevity of the game with playable stuff and aesthetics by alternating the two contents. Honestly, this is a new low for Japanese microtransactions. To think I hated NB for Tales crap. Ugh.

I definitely agree that a full Coliseum DLC at 10-15 dollars would be much more worthwhile (and would probably sell more) if it contained a bunch of fights in a set with extra Fragments, and achievements/trophies.

It doesn't even have to be 20-30 unique fights, but if they had like 5-10 brand new boss fights (like the current ones being sold via DLC), and then added put them at the end of Challenge Tiers mixed with fights consisting of unique synergy groupings of existing enemies.

Like an existing strong COM enemy with tons of HP, paired with 2 smaller MEDs and 2 medium RAVs, or all the different Chocobo colors in a single battle, or Chaos Bahamut + Twilight Odin, etc. There are a lot of creative ideas you can come up with for interesting arena battles even using the current game's assets. It would add an extra layer of challenge and fun for palyers, instead of just being cash-in DLC.

It's too bad S-E is kinda new to this concept and they don't seem very mature in their DLC planning.

Well, there's Dissidia for that! I'd rather see reimagined or fresh takes on enemies like Omega, rather than Squall for the 900th time.

Lightning makes sense, obviously, and Omega was a cool redesign. That's what I'm looking for. Updated Emerald Weapon? I'd be allllll over that. Shiva based on her X design? Yes please! There's so much more to FF than the lead characters.

Yeah, I agree with this point. I probably won't even consider getting the Jihl DLC unless it's more than meets the eye. I don't care for her as a character, and even though she's part of FFXIII's story, I don't care to revisit that detail. I care even less for getting previous FF characters in my party. If I wanted that, I have Dissidia012. But I'm a sucker for the monster stuff, and it's disappointing that there aren't more announced beyond Omega.

Another question about the mechanics of Yeul and the seeress stuff:

The game seems to contradict itself about this. At one point Caius explicitly says that Etro saving everyone at the end of FFXIII changes time, and as the Seeresses see all of time, this cuts all their lives short. But later, it's made out that Etro saving everyone is irrelevant and the seeress' life is always cut short whenever they have a vision, like that is just a sad part of the mechanics. Like having any normal vision cuts their lives short anyway. Doesn't that make Etro saving everyone irrelevant as the source of all the Yeul's dying? Or is it that Etro saving everyone made all the visions "poisonous"?

Okay, I think I can explain this in simple terms.

The price to pay for using the Eyes of Etro is a shortened life force. But we can expect that in the original one true timeline, the seeress only uses her powers of divination when she needs to, or when she is ready to record something into the oracle drive to leave to future generations before she passes on. There is no indication that these facts alone would result in a seeress dying while she is very young.

But when there is a flux in the timeline, and the future is being constantly rewritten by paradox factors, this will result in a seeress seeing forced visions over and over every time the future is changed, as a part of course correction. This results in every seeress dying very young, because the specific futures that they have seen change again and again after they have seen them.

Etro created this flux by saving the characters at the end of FFXIII, and thus allowing bits of unwanted Chaos to escape from the Unseen Realm into the world's timeline. The moment she did this, the effects of the paradox across all timelines basically created Caius as a villain who did not exist before that act, since he would have no reason to want to destroy the Goddess.

got cocky and tried fighting Yomi.

Yomi brought me back down to Earth. :(

I tried Yomi yesterday and just when I was about to stagger him he would do that impenetrable shit of his, not only reset the stagger bar, but null any debuff you had on him.

I decided to call it quits, I don't want to spend 2 hours killing him, I have to find a way to stagger him fast, maybe now that I got Lighning...

Just like in FF13, the easiest way to beat him is to use
poison and heal/buff when he is in shield mode.

AH! Yes I get it now.
The paradoxes all over history happened as a result of Etro's saving everyone, allowing the strange chaos stuff Etro was guarding to seep out, and they are what makes the seer have so many visions that she is doomed to die early

My only other problem with the plot now I've finished (MAJOR ENDING SPOILERS) is that
it seems everything would have happened exactly the way it did had the heros done nothing. If Serah had just refused to leave New Bodum, Caius would have just done his thing and the chaos would have seeped out upon Etro's death, which is pretty much what happened after 45 hours of trying to stop it

I think that's kinda the point of the plot though.
Caius' amazing plan is so amazing that no matter what you do and no matter how many alternate paradox endings you try to get, the end result is always the same. Caius cannot lose. It's a mega troll. The only thing which can stop his brilliant plan is either an expensive DLC scenario, or a full blown retail sequel! LOLOLOL.

I have a problem. My Steppe map is 99% complete. I zoomed all the way in and panned all over the map, and I don't see any uncolored areas on the map at all. Wtf? Any advice? :(

Long way? Up and down the map all the way through.
Short way? It's probably that little area (the pillar) in the middle of the map. I think you need a chocobo to get on top of there.

Yep, you can use Lightning and Omega(?) so far, they are going to milk my wallet if they put Squall and Rinoa, or Zidane and the Princess, Steiner would be cool too, and I'd fucking buy all the cast from FFVI.
I'm planning on waiting for a "goty" release of this that includes all DLC, but if they were to announce Seifer, I'd just buy the vanilla and the DLC separately like a good fanboy.

Always loved that character, although judging by his exclusion from other titles that included cross-universe cameos, I guess he wasn't a popular guy.

Well, finally finished and 100%'ed, 85hrs or something like that all up.... I'm glad I got DLC Lightning early enough to use her for a huge chunk of the game. The other characters are cool but nothing tops Lightning, even 'monster' form of her.

:\ @ the ending though lol. DLC ending incoming?

I keep getting my butt whooped by DLC Lightning and her comrade. Is DLC Omega any easier? For reference, my stats are max out for COM and RAV for both Serah and Noel. My monsters are Green Chocobo (Medic), Chicu (Commando), and Purple Chocobo (Synergist). Am I doing something wrong? *sigh*

Also, how close am I to the end? Noel and Serah are about to leave Academia 4xxAF after discovering the stone thingy.
