Will the monsters in XIII interact with each other (whether it's in or out of actual combat)?

I would really like to know this as well.

One of my favorites from 12 were the mantises that wold eat other monsters to gain levels.

Okay, this is fucking weird. I just realized something:

- The final trailer goes online on Wednesday afternoon in Japan.
- Next week's Jump features a look at the world of Grand Pulse, and the missions you can get on it, similar to mob hunts.
- This week's Jump showcased the weapon upgrading system.
- Next week's Famitsu will cover the same stuff that Jump has covered in these two weeks.

So....

Unless they plan on "teasing" or revealing Vanille's summon in the trailer itself, it means we might actually not see it in action at all before the game is out. I'm fully expecting Bahamut and Alexander to be in the trailer. Then again, in the previous trailer, they showed Brynhildr with Sazh, before it was ever officially announced. So they could be doing that here. In fact, if it is an original summon, they might do just that, and leave us guessing if the summon shown was Leviathan or something. :lol

Like I said, I'm pretty sure than Vanille's summon is some kind of huge spoiler. It won't be something as bland as Leviathan!

So if it's an original summon, will you admit that S-E has trolled you? :)

Depends; if it is a DARKNESS-PERSONIFIED original summon, I will consider my whole theory justified!

Unless it is lame-looking like Fang's Bahamut. Now, that was depressing. :(

I was gonna ask why anyone would feel trolled but then I remembered where I was :/

I for one could care less if it's a returning summon or original one. As long as it does badass stuff and/or looks cool, I'll be satisfied. I haven't been disappointed so far and I doubt I will be.

Picking on you is so easy that i feel guilty trying :b

With that said, i do agree that it is about how the summon.

Not my fault you hate everything :p

Most of my real life friends love the designs. Obviously that doesn't represent the entire fanbase, but I've found that online opinion usually conflicts with mainstream opinion.

If I have to dodge even one bolt of lightning in this area I'm going to scream.

The summons could have more involvement in the story than we know, and maybe Vanille's is particularly spoilerish. IDK. I think Duckroll's right; we might not get a look at it until release.

Not trying to bait you, just saying good/bad/uninspired are all subjective. Shouldn't be that hard to fathom people liking things you consider bad.

If it's any consolation, Doomtrain is one of my favorite summons and I would be thrilled to see him return (like having your own marlboro).

No. That sort of thought is the bastion of people who find their opinions constantly and unacceptably attacked and thus retreat to a state where they are unassailable.

I would not go so far as saying there are objective standards, but not all subjective reasoning is equal.

And it is not so much that i cannot bear the idea of someone disagreeing with me, it is the idea that there exists someone that could disagree with me so much (i blame my ego...).

I could have a whole conversation with you about that, but this isn't the place do it. You should join the IRC. Would spice the place up a bit.

Edit: Also, I'm sure inner-G would disagree with you just as much :D

The hell are those white things?

When I was little, a fiend attacked me while I was swimming at the beach. My brother tried to beat it back with a spell. But he missed and hit me instead! It was a Thunder spell - Bzzzzzzt!

*sigh*

I've been scared of lightning ever since...

Brother was bang on target.

The V Jump article has more screens and info than Weekly Jump's. They show an actual battle (with battle interface) with the Adamantoise in FFXIII. The scale is exactly the same as when you see it when you're exploring Grand Pulse. They're the HUGE things shown in the overworld in the last trailer.

They also show a screen with monsters fighting each other, and it says that the overworld of Grand Pulse is meant to be a wild and natural world and to add to the realism monsters in the world will also have their own little conflicts and you can see them fighting over territory, etc as you explore.

:o

The strange monuments which you talk with to get missions on Grand Pulse are actually l'Cie who have failed to perform their focus, and hence became crystallized 'Cie corpses over long periods of time.

The insert song "Eternal Love" will be played in the game during the fireworks scene with Snow and Serah, as seen in the trailer. I wonder if this is when they will play "My Hands" in the US version. There's still no word if Kimi ga Iru Kara is played during another scene, or if it'll just be the ending song.

Fucking win.

The monsters territory thing intrigues me no end.

I can't believe I'll have to go on blackout in less than a month.

Sounds like the T-Rex outside of Dalmasca.

So it seems the main adventure will be in Cocoon while the sidequests will be held in Pulse. Makes me wonder if that air battle in the trailer is already the climax of the game.

Very VERY interesting.

Like I said before, it really does sound like Grand Pulse is designed to be like FFXII, while Cocoon is designed to be like FFVII/VIII/X. It should be really interesting to see the contrast, and to see if the actual concept and design is executed as well as it sounds.

So the missions you get are actually the focuses those l'Cie didn't complete?

I wonder what happens to the corpses if you complete their focus for them.

The FFXII stuff on Pulse is sexy, I think I already know which of the two areas I like more. :P

Right as I asked about that. :lol

Talking about world realism, I read some allusions to weather effect, and in one of the screens above we acn see a lightening bolt. I searched but found no real explanation :

are they some "scripted" weather effects at some moments of the story, or does Pulse have a changing/dynamic weather ?

Agreed, it's all very intriguing... and if it can happen in sidequests, it can happen in the main plot as well (and almost certainly will).

most likely scripted.

they save the dynamic weather for the online FF's. :D

Read Episode 0, weather change(in Sanles anyway) is explained there.

If not they could always do it the XII way.

The first weather change you experience is scripted but there others aren't.

The screenshot is not from Pulse. We have not seen any weather effects on Pulse yet. The weather system introduced so far is an artificial system in a specific area on Cocoon. The weather can be controlled using a machine, and you can alter the weather as well by touching the orb. Hence it's not scripted to the story, but can be changed manually to impact the dungeon (?) in different ways. Probably related to some puzzles.

I knew those Cocoon soldiers kind of looked like Helghast!!!!

I've been curious as to wether there are any cities on Pulse or not. From what it seems like, it's just a vast land with monsters, but maybe we just haven't seen any civilization yet.

There was a scan that showed a ruined city(the scan was about new details on Pulse, so yeah....).

Also some details from episode zero would imply that there is(or was) some civilization down there.

Its made terribly clear that there was and still may be creatures other then humans living on Pulse.

I hope there's a diverse set of towns and environments in this game. I really wouldn't like a "Cacoon is a Hub, Pulse Overworld" setup (which is how it feels in FFXII). More of "Cacoon is Midgar of which you are banished, Pulse Overworld with different locales".

Good info, thanks. Pulse is sounding more and more intriguing as well. I need to go finish reading the Episode 0 stuff as the backstory isn't bad at all.
