Im curious how many people can even use the special features of the PS3 version being on Blu-ray. Especially uncompressed audio.

My receiver accepts LPCM through HDMI, so I will. Will I be able to appreciate the difference? Probably not!

this is the type of shit that's going to make this whole FNC project backfire...

VERSUS WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE BETTAR LOLZ!
Seconded. Such BS.

Okay, so here's a question: If they had to completely rebuild the game for the 360, as revealed in a recent news story, what's the point of the Crystal Tools if they aren't actually multiplatform? Yeah, I know what purpose they serve, but easy multiplatform support seems like a huge oversight.

Yesterday I asked about the cheapest UK store, and today there is a "decent" offer.

Only today zaavi and thehut have 10% on PS3/Bluray stuff with the coupon (Wicked10/BLUE10). FF13 normal edition costs £39.73 and CE £54.73 (without the 10% off coupon).

so what do you think the last news item will be on the 13th? That is if they are still doing that.

A demo? CE NA announcement? Don't think it could be a new trailer, I think the international one was it.

They'll still be doing it, but I reckon it'll just be more of the same old recycled Japanese screenshots.

Why would any sane PS360 owner purchase FFXIII on the 360? There are no advantages there. Compressed video, sound, and split into three discs? Nonsense people.

It's like buying Orange Box or Bayonetta on PS3 when you have a 360 sitting there as well.

Let's discuss something else--like how effing close we are to actually playing this game. Felt like it would never happen.

If its a demo, SE redeemed. If its a CE announcement, well, that'd be the only time I think they could announce it, and they should. Final Fantasy is just as big here as in Europe, so I have no idea why it's not happening.

Dude, I'm all about the DTS and 1080p and it's going to be evident when it comes to the overall experience. Not to mention my 360 is one bloody loud beast, so I avoid using it unless I have a superior multiplatform issue (Bayonetta, Orange Box). If I could play my Mass Effect 2 on something far quieter, along with uncompressed audio and no additional discs to swap, you bet I would. But, I can't--so I partake of the magical ME2 on my 360.

One of my OXM's from last year stated there would be a Demo hitting live. It was in the rumor section, but they didn't make it sound like it was iffy more like near 100% happening.

Exactly why I install everything on my 360(Jasper), which is whisper quiet and much more so compared to my 60GB running discs. It is in fact the opposite when running discs however.

I preordered a US copy today. I don't know why. Oh well. Need to hear Leona Lewis.

I would buy the PS3 version because the FMVs are in stunningly high quality.

Stop exaggerating. FFXIII 360 is nowhere near as bad as those two ports were.

Well, MY magazine says there's going to be a demo on the Wii, 100% happening. :D

U mad?

1. Gaming press says both versions look the same 2. I can install the game on the HDD and play it without loading times 3. The final 360 version isn't even out yet.

Who cares about which version you're getting, it's all about the game itself.
It's like saying you can't enjoy ME2 on the 360 because the PC version has the potential to look better.

Play games people, not consoles.

Pro tip : HDD install.

Obvious troll is obvious

The loadtimes are already nonexistent on the PS3 version.

I'm making a point that there is no beneficial reason to purchase on a 360 if you own both machines. My example was to emphasize that when you have obvious benefits to a title, you buy it for the system it's best for (assuming you own it).

Now, I'm just going to put it out there and say that anyone who purchases FFXIII on a 360, when they have a PS3 just plain wants to hold a 360 controller in their hand--which is a fine reason. But, to me, I'm going to look at the uncompressed audio, HD video, and single-disc solution.

I love my 360 and feel it's essential to my gaming, but I just don't see why everyone keeps providing a rebuttal rather than saying "Yeah, I own both, but I just prefer playing on a 360 and am willing to compromise a little for it in order to play FFXIII on my system of choice."

The game doesn't require installing and the load times are pretty quick, an area where the PS3 usually suffers.

Yep. Next to zero loading times, no HDD install. The optimization is very nice. Toriyama said it was one of the first issues they worked on.

Well, those compromises don't really matter to someone who doesn't have a badass home theatre system to enjoy 1080p FMV and lossless audio. I get what you mean though, but the differences are very, very small and no one will notice unless you view them side-by-side.

For me, not having to change discs alone is enough for me to choose the PS3 version. I'm certainly aware that might not be the case for everyone.

I can abide by this for the PAL version. The only loading times are when the game is loading up the save file when you choose Continue in the main menu. Loading FMV cutscenes don't even take a second.

I was really surprised to see how well runs this game compared to many other PS3 games that are so slow, I really hate ports, that's why I always try to get the games on the platform they were based of and not the one they are ported to.

Indeed. People were speculating there would be some massive install or installs between chapters like MGS4. Not the situation here, so load times is definitely NOT an issue.

You are trying to hard. No PS360 owner should buy the 360 version. One disc, better audio and FMV. Why risk three disc which can be scratched and lost, why install three disc when you can play off one with no noise and fast loading? It is a no brainier, look at their relative position on the amazon.com sales chart.

It's Dra-Q. He's been trolling hardcore in that FF14 thread with claims of 'Final Fantasy should belong to the 360' and crap like that.

Again, my point is not that the differences will be major. I was simply inquiring to PS360 owners as to what makes them want to play the same game (excluding those very small differences) on 3-discs rather than one. Again, let's push aside the HD video, lossless sound, etc etc.

This. I totally get why someone would buy on 360 if that's all they had. Much like why someone would buy a slightly compromised port on PS3 because they lack the other console. Being fortunately enough to own both HD consoles, I would think people would be all about getting the best experience out of their hard-earned cash.

Many people don't give two shits that it's on multiple discs. How does that change the game experience in any significant way? And the 360 version will have HD video and surround sound which is more than enough for the majority of people. Plus from my experience Multiplatform games tend to run better on 360. We'll see if that's the case this time.

Umm wow, this thread is getting derailed with a bunch of flamewarring fanboys/girls here. I'll reserve my opinion until I see the finished product and can compare the two games between my PS3 and my brothers 360. My eyes and ears will tell me.

Yeah I'd like conclusive evidence that one version is better than the other, but with the Japanese PS3 release and it being the lead platform with uncompressed shit and single disc blahblahblah I'm going to go with the PS3 version. I simply go where the better version is, like Bayonetta on 360 or whatever. People need to stop being sensitive about their precious platforms dammit.

I don't see why there's such a big hubbub about all this. People will get the version they decide to get. It has zero effect on anyone but the person purchasing it. I mean, seriously, I...
