So "Dear My Friend" is a buffalo scrotum in music form?
That actually explains so much.

Himuro said:Hire Rihanna to sing an FF love song.

lorddarkflare said:True.
JRPG voiced themes are like the Bioware sex scene, they are to be endured, not welcomed nor encouraged (with the exception of Karma, Karma is awesome).
cosmicblizzard said:But then we wouldn't have awesome tracks like Real Emotion!
lorddarkflare said:That one is only good because stupid J-pop garbage fits very well into X-2(my favorite of the series)
Himuro said:The only one I like is Suteki da ne and that's mostly due to the singer's voice.
Eyes of Eye (vocal version, not instrumental version which is awesome. "Ami" <3), Melodies of Life, whatever the hell is in FFX-2 kinda suck.
I'll admit that, when it first came out, I liked the intro to Kingdom Hearts. It was upbeat and had nice cg.
tribal24 said:is the leona lewis song gonna be the intro or the credit theme?
Leona Lewis is actually the final boss in the NA version - more similarities to FFVIII.TheJollyCorner said:it's the new battle theme, which is why everyone is so pissed.

I don't mind variation as long as we got both. I like alternate cuts of films, for example. It's just a tragedy when people decide "well, this audience gets this version, while this one gets another... forever". It's like with Sonic CD... the American soundtrack is great! It's just an endless tragedy that the original (superior?) version NEVER makes it over here in any official form. Seriously.. language is one thing, but are Japanese/Western audiences THAT different that we need an entirely different emotional message for the game? Maybe people are fans of FF specifically BECAUSE it's a Japanese-flavored import (helllo???)
The Japanese players will probably get the American song for FFXIII in the International release... completist fans in Japan will probably be able to get the original flavor and this new one (however it turns out)... while US gamers never will... unless they import... which for one song is ridiculous. Better to stick with the version we can understand... despite one scene or the credits always ringing a little false.
It's just an annoying concept for anyone who considers themself a diehard fan. Casual players and vocal song haters of all kinds won't mind one way or the other... but people who want the original artistic vision will probably be irked by this decision for years (seriously)
There's just no way I'll hear that song in the game and think about anything but the politics around its inclusion. I won't think about its artistic meaning because I know better: it's not what the sound composer and original team decided.. it's what a business person decided. It's not a song written to compliment the game, because that already exists, and its cut out of this edition in favor of a random pop track.
And personally I think the new song is good. It's just a wrong choice for a variety of reasons!

This Chocobo is huge.

If there was an unlockable option at the end of the game... Like a video of the original scene with Dear My Friend... it's the least they could do, but I'd be satisfied.SHOTEH FOCK OP said:Well said.
How about a choice that pops up during the intro, like in Modern Warfare 2 or Brutal Legend, that lets you choose your theme song preference. Wouldn't that make everyone happy?
I've almost typed Kagari when talking about Lightning. Pretty sure I did it once on IRC actually.FateBreaker said:*sigh* Now when I see Lightning, I think Kagari.![]()

but on the real the chocobos do look kinda weird in this version they kinda remind me of the Nu Mou's. I was always fond of the cute 7 and 9 versions of chocobos. But I am going to be looking at their tail end anyways so it don't matter.
brandonh83 said:The chocobos look more like ancient, noble creatures in this game IMO. A more coherent part of the world, I mean if you think about it, in the past games there's all these big, crazy evil creatures and then giant yellow chickens running around. THESE chocobos look like they fit in better with the ecology of the land.
It absolutely killed the TGS trailer for me. How can I take any of this seriously with cringe-worthy jpop blasting over everything.jett said:Squeenix should just eliminate these sappy shit-ass pop songs from the series all together.
