FINAL FANTASY XIII | The Official Import Thread

Yea NCSx is really great especially if you are in NY. Anyone about 3-4 hours from the city is 1 day transit. I used to be, but have moved since so bumped to 2 :( All you lucky city folk that will have it friday, grr!! I wonder how long it would actually take they were delivering to Queens, still one day?

What is a tumbler?

I wonder if tumbler is a british word. It's a word I used a lot as a kid when I lived in Singapore and India, but I haven't used it since I was like, 9 years old.

Tides aren't really a weather phenomena. I mean, unless you considered that kind of stuff weather.

Main character in 15 to be called Solare after sun flares :o

Tides are most definitely a weather phenomenon. They have a bigger effect on weather than you would realize.

/coastal city person.

As an American I'm not sure I ever heard the term before learning Japanese. I may have heard it, though, then again that may have been another meaning of tumbler (the part of a lock for example).

Also, I'm pretty sure a tumbler isn't a fancy coffee cup, but more of a drinking glass for whisky and what not.

Usually, the word is used for a water cup. That is to say, a cup that's short and stout, rather than tall like a glass.

Isn't a tumbler just a plain old flat bottomed cup, usually made of metal or plastic?

Yeah, traditional Indian tumblers are made from stainless steel.

That's what I thought...My brother's friend, who is Pakistani, brought him a really nice simple one after his last visit to Pakistan. I've heard it used over here in the States as well, usually for spirits.

You lived in Singapore before??

Yeah, I'm South Indian. I grew up drinking water from stainless steel tumblers (which, to be completely honest, makes water taste better)

That said, I'm still mashing F5 waiting for my shipment T_T

I just want to see it shipped so I can plug in the shipping info to Junecloud and let it take care of everything.

Had a meeting outside the office and had to switch in Shibuya so I swung by Bic just to hype myself up even more. First off, they have it running on one of the new 40 inch Bravia's, and my god the CG is just amazing. It made me feel that I need to upgrade from my already FullHD 37 Regza, jesus this is bad. Secondly, they had a TON of Lightning PS3 bundles. Don't know how many might be pre-orders, but I came very close to pulling out the credit card for a second there. Only visions of my wife literally murdering me for buying it stopped me. :lol :lol

They also had the Elixer + Tumbler sets... another almost buy except the box is MUCH bigger than I thought it would be, so I couldn't really bring that back to the office and imagine it not be noticed... -_- I might stop by after work though...! Damn you FF for making me want to spend money!

I'm extremely jealous! Hope everyone can stay up all night and play the game :)

Not sure how much more I'll be paying attention to FFXIII media.

I'm suprised know one's really made more of a point about this actually.

Cloud, Squall, Tide (Tidal?) in Tidus, Lightning, and Snow to really hammer it down.
If you throw in Sora, then you've got Sky there.
It goes to show, Nomura really wanted to be a meteorologist when he was growing up!
I think it's just natural objects in general, not just weather (Noctis/of the night, Stella/star). Lightning and Snow aren't weather in-themselves, but they are motifs.

Snow isn't weather in itself? You sure about that?

I ordered from Play-Asia via standard EMS(?) shipping.

Any idea what day it will reach my grubby hands in NY?

Monday or Tuesday if it ships the current Business day and there are no customs holds

On west coast, EMS USED to arrive on Friday of the sale week from play-asia, but this changed about 2 years ago and due to customs holds and understaffing(?) it takes until Monday after the Thursday it goes on sale. Tack on another day, potentially, for the east coast. (I don't know what the guarantees for EMS are, however this is my experience with about 40 orders throughout the last few years with PA.com)

I've come to grips with justifying the added cost for Fedex for new games...if the game's not in my hand on a Friday, it's very likely I'll go out and spend quite a bit of money on the weekends (meals, gas, entertainment, etc)...an additional $5~10 is a small price to pay to prevent that :P

isn't that like saying the lunar cycle is a weather phenomenon...? :/

Thanks that's exactly the info I was looking for. Still wish I ordered from NCSX. The kicker is I don't work on Friday!

Question, maybe someone here can answer it.

Unlike previous iterations in the series this one does not have MP, so without MP, if one of your party members dies during a fight, is the fight over?
Or is there a way to revive them if one of the members is in the HLR class/optima at the time. Can they learn the revive spell?

Just curious as to how this is going to work with spells, items, etc..

If the leader character dies the battle is lost. I am not sure if there are revive abilities later down the line for non-leader characters, but one of the "roles" is a healer type so there is probably something.

Same here, on both accounts.

So phoenix downs are still in? If your the leader, you can revive other characters in your party if they die?

Man, 5 more days to wait for me. Wish I would still live in Sapporo, but this time it's Munich, so I need to hold out. I would kill myself if I had to wait 3 more months. Congrats to everyone getting the game and thanks for the pictures. Hype +100.

Just got mine. They had a shit tonne of copies left at Umeda Sofmap and they had reduced the price from 8300 to 7500 yen in what I can only guess was an attempt to clear out stock.

I assume it's structured much like the Persona games, where reviving non-leader characters is possible, but the crux of a battle ultimately falls in the lap of the leader.

I'm still only near the beginning of the game, but I haven't encountered any Phoenix Downs yet. I have plenty of potions, though. With that said, I would be very surprised if there was no way to revive fallen allies.

Is it true that everyone in the party auto-heals at the end of every battle?

Indeed it is! A very welcome change in my opinion.

playasia now lists the asia version as ships in 5-15 days and jp version in 1 week. they took off the "estimated ship date: dec 17" from my order page, i'm guessing their shipments came in and they don't have enough.......

Seems a natural progression from the automatic save point healing in XII.
Romancing Saga / Last Remnant had healing after battle, so they had the idea around for a while. About time it popped into Final Fantasy.

That's been there since FFX, but I agree.

Chrono Cross had something close to that.

Not going to bother posting in this thread since the creator and most of the posters are on my ignore list, but just wanted to post this before I depart.

Well you're a regular old attention whore aren't you? Feel free to add me to your ignore list.

Now, you can't respond to this even if you read it since you promised that you wouldn't be posting in this thread.

Yeah I noticed my Dec 17th estimate disappeared as well. If you are right I am going to gonna be kinda bummed this week. :(
