Final Fantasy XV Active Time Report - TGS 2016

Dude, I thought my TV developed a burnt pixel with that gif.

This is an incredibly genius edit of that gif.

Another showcase of the tutorial quests in the game from EGX (Xbox version).

The guy playing it does a pretty good job here.

Final Fantasy XV - TwitchCon 2016

Good news for Xbox One players, they've fixed the vegetation LOD there too. :)

I know this is a complex request ( I tried)

but to all you giffers out there---Could someone
Gif Aranea when she says "hey pretty boy" cut the gif there and right as she is about to pull back
merge it with the gif where she gets rekked-aton (slammed on the floor) by Nocits.

Yes, please...:(

I like Shiva's design and how she moves in what we've seen so far, kinda reminds me of Zelda fairies.
FF Shivas(well, the more classic design) have always been fairy-like. It even seems like Amano's original design has antennae.

latest

I always figured Shiva was more a fairy-woman considering how a lot of the sprites looked(the flowing cape/cloth always seemed like wings and some of the the sprites look like they are flying).

From translations of Jump, it sounds like there aren't literally seven Shivas, it's an illusion. I don't know if these translations are accurate, but it does seem to make more sense to me. It might not be something that's super important for her death from above summon attack but it could make for an intensely interesting boss fight with her if she's one of the Astrals you need to do battle with.

I don't know, recent iterations made her look more like some sort of dancer rather than a fairy to me.

Speaking of that, do we know if Bahamut is there? Man, that would be criminal a main FF without Bahamut...

I'm sure it'll be there. In the artwork there's an human dragon demon and chances are that might be him. Maybe he is not going to look like a dragon this time but humanized one?

Probably, considering his lines in the 2013 trailer it felt like he had a bigger role to play.

Can't believe they took away his magic and gave him Stella's blade. Water a sword-wielding female warrior down into a more typical JRPG priestess trope AND remove a key villain's mysterious power in one fell swoop? Still bums me out.

We haven't heard those lines again and we literally still know nothing about Ravus in the game, so assuming he had a bigger role back then is like assuming that Regis wanted to kill Noctis because the "I will make sure that I'm the last king" line.

There's precedent of x thing not appearing again = x thing being cut, but with Ravus we literally didn't know anything about him in the original version. I'm sure his role has been reworked because of the intro and Stela/Luna changes, but assuming that he was more important back then, is a stretch, in my opinion. If the game comes out and he is Jhil Nabaat 2, then we can come into that conclusion, but until then, we don't have enough information for that.

I really hope the dogs thing won't come back throughout the game in different colors and levels, they're by far the most boring enemy to fight against.

This combat engine is not prepared to deal with fast and small enemies, it's such a drag to fight them in Episode Duscae, and it's boring as shit to watch people fighting against them in more recent builds too.

FFX Bahamut was best Bahamut, so that's not much different.

FFX GOAT tier.

For some reason, FFX's Bahamut always reminds me of a giant, armored turkey. "I'm gettin' revenge.... FOR THANKSGIVING!!!!"

my favorite Bahamuts are the less elaborate and armored. Classic Bahamut(FFI-FFVII) still has segmented pieces, but they aren't over doing it. When they started adding paudrons, gauntlets and over elaborate plating, and they started looking more like robot dragons or something you'd see from a super sentai show, I start liking them less. A good example of a redesign I disliked was going from FFVII's Bahamut to Crisis Core's Bahamut:

That's why we have ranged weapons. Stuff like guns, Shuriken, etc.

EDIT: It's definitely a problem early on, though. The only way you can get to them is by spamming Warp.

I thought we already know that in Nomura's original vision, Ravus was supposed to be Noctis's half brother, and wants the ring, crystal, summon and head position of the mafia family. Is this not true? And wasn't Noctis depicted as an anti-hero and original Ravus as anti-villain? Again, I forgot where I read this from, probably from one of Nomura's interviews. Correct me if I'm wrong.

My gut feeling is that the role of Ravus in the game has been decreased as part of the changes.

Good. Keep Seymour 2.0 out the game. Ravus is a joke. I feel sorry for the guy and I would respect him so much more if he had turned his life around but nope.

Well shit, that would've been interesting, and it would've helped explain a lot of Ravus' actions in Kingsglaive.

Noctis - black hair, wears black, loved and protected by his father, rises to become King
Ravus - blonde hair, wears white, abandoned by his father at the hands of the empire, falls to ruin and resentment

Wouldn't be surprised if it was true at some point, probably not anymore though.

His name is Cor, why else would people need to like him?

The last time I let a character's name hype me, her name was Cidney.

Also I totally suspect that Ravus' role has been reduced because it seems like the role of pretty much everything has been reduced. The game feels more like narrative moments strung waiting between fetch quests rather than a smooth narrative line going throughout it.

I only read bout the half brother thing from one of those recent 4chan rumor leaks where the guy said he knew some stuff about Versus.

Well that's silly.

Why? It is not Square Enix but Sony that is making big money with the whole Pro business. 95+% of all players will buy and play the game on the regular PS4 and Xbox One.
People on Gaf have been way overhyping the Pro version of FFXV. It actually isn't that big of a deal and on the list of Square Enix's priorities for the game towards the bottom of the list. They have all hands full with the even delayed base versions.
They also don't want regular PS4 and Xbox One owners to think their version is in any way inferior after all the years they have been waiting for this game and (in many cases) have been buying consoles for this game. They even mentioned in the last ATR that they don't want people to worry about that.

I can imagine the mandatory Pro patch just being a 4K mode. I doubt they will offer more modes similar to ROTTR (which sorely needs more incentives to sell itself after it is already out for so long on Xbox and PC and has to compete with Uncharted 4).
Would the minimum of a patch really warrant an own FFXV PS4 Pro?

But we've already seen there's more to it than resolution change and they're working on Pro mode.

It's fine to not buy Pro, but why downplay it as the graphics can and will look a lot better on it.

Don't let the Pro make you feel insecure. It's just like if somebody has a better car than you. Who really cares? If it bothers you so much, then invest in a better car when you're ready.

It's fine to not buy Pro, but why downplay it as the graphics can and will look a lot better on it.

The graphics (meaning better lighting, LOD, textures...) will only look better in a special 1080p mode with additional graphical bells and whistles. FFXV in 4K mode plus higher graphical settings? No way!
There might of course be an additional 1080p mode...but I doubt it.

Please, a prettier game is not a car! XD
The prettier Pro version bothered me at first...then I actually decided to get a PS4 Pro after some very nice trade-in deals popped up...but then I decided against it again as long as the one game I would be buying the Pro for (FFXV actually ;) ) won't really get that big of a graphical boost. Just a higher resolution/supersampling isn't enough for me to warrant getting the PS4 Pro. If there is a 1080p mode, with all bells and whistles, the Pro will be mine though. ;)

FFX's Bahamut is cool cuz...he..? stands there with arms crossed. But visually Bahamut looks mixed with a parrot or a peacock lol.

Over-designing is REAL.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one.

So far I think the XV summon designs have done a solid job of establishing visual impact through sheer size, animation, and relatively subtle design features.

Wow even the xbox version rocks, hey it's s that bird! (Btw)

How many more of these type of videos are out, I don't get tired of watching these.

It actually looks surprisingly... OK? I only have an Xbox and I really want this game but the graphics were kinda putting me off of the game but now that I see that, it doesn't look all that bad. I've played worse looking games on the Xbox One anyways.

No? Just no.

FFXIV's one is the best one.

XIV one is a fatso.

I vote for X too, look at that edgy motherfucker :)

Anyways, I've liked the summon designs so far in XV. At least Ramuh, Titan, and Leviathan look like classic Final Fantasy.

My judgement on Shiva is still up in the air, I need to see more of her. She doesn't look classic so far, but to be fair, I do not dig old school Shivas...

Yeah I don't get it. I'm seeing people downplay it elsewhere as well like it's some weird insecurity. Maybe that's why SE won't comment on specs yet.

It's not that complicated, really. Versus was one of the main reasons I got a PS3, and XV was one of the main reasons I got a PS4. I feel like I've been chasing this game for so long lol, and my plain ol' PS4 still feels new so XV better damn well look and run great on it. Fortunately, I'm pretty easy to please graphics-wise, and the recent footage looks great to me, so I doubt it'll be an issue for me, but it still stings a little to see people talking about another version like it'll be the vastly superior way to experience something you've been waiting on for so long. But does it come across as bitter and petty to whine about? Perhaps. :P

Do you feel similarly about every game you are hyped for that also gets a simultaneous PC release?

VIII's has the most classy Bahamut. Sorry for the bad quality.

Well, even if Nomura stayed on the project we have no idea if he would have kept this plot point all the way through. Remember, Sephiroth was supposed to be Aerith's brother too.

Remember, Sephiroth was supposed to be Aerith's brother too.

That's partly why I had this theory Ravus would be the main villain, I thought maybe Nomura had recycled that plot element with Stella Luna and Ravus being siblings. Wouldn't be shocked to see him get the Nabaat treatment now, though.
