Final Fantasy XV Jump Festa 2015 Trailer

Yeah kind of like traditional summon cutscenes or even the spectacular maqic attacks in Grandia 2.

Traditional summons is exactly what I mean, yeah. Some of them might move around with you depending on how different they're willing to make them, but Titan will definitely be a cutscene once he's acquired.

The problem with Luna is that we've only seen her sitting in a chair doing nothing. Maybe she really is Stella redesigned but will keep doing all the amazing stuff she's done in previous trailers.

At this point it would be weird to introduce a new character.

That's a similar dress imo.

No it's not exactly the dress Luna is shown wearing so it can't be her, nevermind the fact that virtually every other character has both been redesigned and had their wardrobe tweaked.

I think Tabata would have gotten that out of the way early, if it was simply a name swap. I feel like it's gonna be some story stuff.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the man in the hood was someone who looked identical to Noctis. That way, both Stella and Noctis would have a doppelganger AND have the ability to see the "light" (which supposedly is unique only to them)

We don't know if that plot point is even in the game anymore.

You can take away the KH battle system, you can take away the other playable characters, heck SE you can even take away Nomura's direction but I swear if you've taken Stella away SE I will be PISSED.

Stella was honestly one of the greatest FF designs I have ever seen. She had an air of classiness to her but also strength......like she could take on Noctis, a guy capable of murdering an entire army, by herself.

Don't do it SE....don't you dare

Not really. The exact opposite.

I'm taking this as a reference from the 2013 trailer.

We've almost seen all these characters since the re-design.
We have not seen the hoody guy, the woman with black hair and the Cor look-alike. (Notably Regis' brother? (or rather Gladiolus' father as some have pointed out) is not in the official cast key art)

There seem to be a few look-alikes in this game. Regis-Brotherrrr, Cor-Other Cor, Stella-Luna. This still could be a major plot device in XV.

What's wrong with really liking a character design?

There's nothing wrong with liking a character design. What I'm referring to is the obsession that some have shown over the years over her, especially since the E3 2013 trailer. We've seen comments from people freaking out over her possibly having been renamed or put on the sideline. It goes beyond "liking a character design".

Waifu Syndrome.

Yeah, I'm starting to believe this.

To be fair, this design has been dead for a while. The downgrade already happened last year with the reintroduction. On the other hand, Noctis has ended up looking better, both in the face and the clothing design. I think it can be quite tough for people to sometimes strike a distinct look without veering too much into exaggerated territory.

It's quite interesting to see different approaches to creating something, and I think FF certainly has had some strange designs for their characters in recent times. I think I prefer the more subtle style with one or two key points that stick out a little. I've never really been a fan of overdone designs where it feels like too much is going on. In recent times, I've really liked the Galahad design in The Order: 1886 and Elise in the new Assassin's Creed. I could imagine some people finding these two looking a bit too plain however.

I think the next step for FF is allowing you to just change some casual outfits in the game. Just let me put a suit on everyone. I would find it hilarious to be able to go through an RPG game like that.

I think there is something going on with these characters looking pretty similar.

Also, I'd say the blonde girl in the E3 2013 cast picture is not Luna, she looks somewhat different, so by the time the game was revealed as FFXV, Stella was still existing, so I'm calling it twins or look-alikes with a reason that is heavy for the plot.

We've been able to get proof of the fact that Tabata has been paying attention to the fans since TGS (he made a video SPECIFICALLY to address the concerns on the battle system being "press A for awesome", so he's listening) EVERYONE has been wondering who the hell Luna is and why she looks ridiculously similar to Stella, yet he hasn't answered. If there was a simple name change, it would've been pretty easy to explain for the Famitsu issue that presented Luna as a character, but he didn't say anything, thus there is something else cooking up here!

At this point, I'd even be kinda disappointed if he came up at E3 2015 and said, Stella is now called Luna lol

That was a really early non-open world version of the game(even uses a KH2 style map). The area was the party scene shown in earlier trailers.

This was just their first pass at the game mechanics.

yup this was back from 2008 IIRC

considering the PS3 version was only completely scrapped mid 2012 they must of binned a F ton of assets

I always thought that promo art was set up intentionally for story reasons. Like Noctis-Stella because they have something in common, Regis-Idola because of obvious reasons, etc...

I did a little review though of the story elements in the JF trailer: http://bsaa-jillvalentine.tumblr.com/post/105729727854/my-review-for-jump-festas-final-fantasy-xv

Very interesting thoughts, a good read! I'm also still confused who is part of which empire, kingdom, city, family etc.

Oh look, it's that one character I'd almost forgotten about.

Hell yeah, i want to play through all the game with Noctis party suit so bad.

These two character designs have literally been MIA for 8 years. I don't know why people are hung up on someone we knew nothing about.

Well even the character models we saw in 2013 are gone, which were pretty much the PS3 ones.

For better or worse, I suppose one of my favourite things about this entire project is kinda the zero-based unlimited budget approach it has. Similar to GTAV.

Like we we won't scrap it and keep giving it as much money, time and attention it needs until every aspect is right.

The concept has always been way too promising for them to do that and I'm glad they understand.

please understand

Thanks! My impression after watching it a few times was that Niflheim took Lucis' crystal away, but will still be (along with other countries who make up the empire) support the Lucian people... which honestly doesn't make sense imo lol! Because as a citizen, why would you accept help from an enemy who took your country's treasure? I also get the feeling that maybe Niflheim might not be so bad after all.

Citizens probably have no say in the matter. This also sounds like damage control on Niflheim's front.

I think that's the whole point of the "There is nothing either good or bad, but only thinking makes it so.".

Maybe they have good intentions bringing in the quote "nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so".

Kinda OT, but I hope Ignis doesn't turn out to be a traitor. It is weird that he's so "cool" about what's been going on at home, but that would stink imo.

EDIT: haha! Didn't see your post MagnaderAlpha. Totally agree. We need a trailer detailing about the other countries :/ .

Again, I think that quote is the main purpose of namedropping "Shakespeare" and it pretty much(the quote, that is) acts to back up the notion of a "fantasy based on reality". There's no clean cut good versus evil, not black and white, just grey. People who you think are "evil" might have totally good intentions for what they are doing, and people who are "good" might have to resort to doing bad things need dictates it.

That actually happens in real occupations too, to give an impression of stability to the citizens in order to keep peace and control.
Doesn't necessarily implies any good intentions.

Also, worth noting that the japanese trailer adds the hour to the beginning of the invasion, and also a "M.E." to the date, probably indicating how that particular calendar is called, which could be different from the one we saw before (9.15.2592). I guess the longer one must be Lucis one, since they're the ones still having the crystal and a 113th King.

How come people suddenly want a realistic design from Final Fantasy character? Is there any past FF game that emphasize on that?

A mechanic who wear like red light district girl? Who cares. It's a game with all main character has magic and wear like kpop group...
People keep saying I said sexy=evil or that I wanted a "realistic" character design. Check back my post I did not say that once! In fact I said I like sexy. Sexy is awesome!

However I think Cindy's design (let's face it, for some stupid reason she ain't called Cidney outside of Japan) is stupid, unnecesary and, most importantly, way over the line.

I said cleavage is cool. So is tiny shorts, bare things, bare midriffs, huge tits, bikini tops and high heeled boots! But NOT all together! You must draw the line somewhere! Grab two (maaaaaybe three) out of those and run with it. Don't over do it!

Especially when she's supposed to be a head mechanic who spends her day under cars getting dirt and motor oil all over.

This is FF, go sexy! No one uses efficient wardrobes here. What I'm arguing is that Cindy's design went too fucking far and because of that I can't take her seriously and think she's a worse designed character of what she could've been.

The Archadian empire did that in FFXII, too. And they turned out to be pretty much an evil empire by the end.

Out of curiosity what do you think of the Type-0 dub from what we've seen so far Kagari? I agree with you on pretty much everything regarding Square's English dubs of late so I'm curious to see what you think. I just finished Type-0 and thought the voice acting was wonderful but haven't looked into the English one just yet for fear of spoilers (although I'm going to do it now).

The English dub sounds totally phoned in and awful. They hired some good talent but sadly the performances just aren't there. A shame too because they had plenty of time to get it right...
