Final Fantasy XV - Omen Trailer

I don't think we'll ever see a turnaround like this. What Yoshida and his team managed to do is one of these gaming histories I would like to see told on a book/a bunch of articles.

I would love to see a survey from SE asking people about why they bought ARR. I'd bet a significant portion of new customers (ie those who hadn't previously subbed to XIV) were due to that CG video and friends linking it. I was one of those who saw the CG vid and read the story behind it and pre-ordered it.

I still think the launch week issues of ARR were darkly hilarious. "We're very sorry everyone, we really didn't know this many new people would want to play our game..."

Finally I got the time to see it. A great trailer finally after so many letdowns. It seems to hint at a darker and grim story than anticipated and this makes me hyped. Good job!

I guess what Regis is worried about, more than Noctis going "evil" is him (KS SPOILERS)
acting as a puppet for the Lucian Kings, which would lead to that World of Ruin-like scenario
?

Also, are they teasing a moment where Noctis will be without his magic?

The way I saw it, and I may be wrong on this, is that the darker and more corrupted Noctis gets throughout his lonely journey, the more and more he loses the right to "be a King", and thus loses the ability to summon the ancient weapons of the Kings.

as much as I like the video, would you think if they replace the music with an extended vocal version of somnus
with Florence singing
will make it better?

Lol

Never change, Square, never change.

Absolutely. I was just thinking that. Chapter 0 is cryptic and literally pretentious (it presumes we care about these characters in that state when we don't even know them yet), and doesn't actually inform the narrative.

That or Omen could make for a good in-game flashback as to why King Regis sent Noctis' companions with him.

There's no way it's just promotional material, right?

Man, this followed by the farewell CGI cutscene and then bros pushing the car would be an amazing opening. Way better than that Chapter 0 tragedy.

I keep watching it. It's all surreal and I don't mean just the trailer. The game coming out after such a long wait.

I also hope it's in the game. Maybe it's in it before the title screen.

Wow!!! So many little details everywhere! My question is who is petting the dog at 3:27? whoever it is was the one pulling the strings all along in the omen.
The arm looks pretty skinny. Could it be luna?!?!?! Got a Caius vibe from that. "Know this Noctis. You will kill me."

That was.. Wauw.. That..

I thought I would wait on buying a PS4P and FFXV till some time next year, but I'll have to play this right away.

Wauw.

I think the point is that the ring is cause and Regis knows the risks of using it. And this is what happens if dwelling too much in it. Think of Lord of the rings basically.

When I saw Luna getting shitkicked AGAIN I wasn't surprised but a little piece of my soul withered away all the same. For fuck's sake, Tabata.

there's enough footage of Luna being abused for a compilation at this point.

that leviathan scene tho!!

It's a very good trailer. I'm hyped. And I love that I can actually understand the meaning of the trailer -- meaning, this may be a JRPG that doesn't go into absolute madness with its story.

Since, maybe DOOM, or the HD Twilight Princess, I haven't been hyped for ANY game this year. I'm still casually playing some new games and playing them, but the feeling is quite a bit low. FFXV making me pumped to play a game. It's a big deal after several months of meh feeling about new games.

That trailer gave me all the right feelings! Don't think any FF trailer has done that since IX. I'm really excited for this now!

this seems really far from all i've seen so far (gameplay , in game cutscene )
(and bad cgi quality for square standard)

Favorite part of the trailer. So good. :')

Also looks like Umbra is on Luna's side so that means the dog at the end isn't Umbra.

If these dogs are supposed to represent the main characters then the dog at the end has to represent the main villain. I think this is the person talking to Regis at the end.

Speculation
Which I don't think is Ardyn. I think it's Chaos/Garland (but in this universe) who is probably the first king of the Lucis line. There's been a lot of similarities to FF1. I think Ardyn is an Astral but I'm not sure if he's helping Noct or not.

Dude. Duuuuuudddee. That totally makes sense, and would be awesome.

So is Umbra on Luna side.

Umbra is probably connected to Luna and Pryna to Noctis. We thought the other way around cause of their clothing, but this makes more sense when look at the Brotherhood episode with Prompto. Prompto metaphorically helped Noctis and so Luna sees this as fate and that's why she pushes him to go become his friend.

Again this is all speculation.

I don't recall if this was from a rumor or an actual description from website/magazines/previews, but it was said that Chaos existed in this universe and it was because of him that the crystal started to choose Kings of Light. But like I said, I don't know if this is legit.

A lot of this pointing to the Lucis family being the destined bad guys. Not Niflhiem. The trailer depicts the Niflheim soldiers as just regular people. Although this one I'm not sure of. It's all gray which is what they could be going for. Tying it to the Shakespeare quote of the first Versus XIII trailer.
