Final Fantasy XV: Platinum Demo Thread

Yes, item based but you can reup on panels to the far right and far left of the stairs. Cast on a barrel too!

Thanks. Do we have information if this is true for all spells in the final game? I mean i think it's pretty stupid that we can't just keep casting spells if we have the MP for it :|

As far as we know, this is how fire, ice, and thunder spells work in the main game.

But Noctis has a second kind of magic that works differently, maybe off of MP, maybe another resource. My bet is that will be higher level spells (meteor, e.g.), but who knows.

Might be better to think of Noctis' MP in this game as fuelling his warping and weapon summoning powers vs the more traditional link to elemental magic. That stuff you can keep spamming til you run out.
 
I'm sure this was the first Final Fantasy game I've played start to finish lol.

Anyway, I mostly liked what the demo offered. Great visuals, decent combat mechanics and the context of the demo made me smile as I played through it.

I didn't like how close the FOV was tho. Also wish I could change some of the binds.

I suppose at least the latter will be addressed in the final game.

All in all, made me a bit more confident in the final product.

Right - currently I think MP drains a bit too fast (though I get they're trying to encourage a hit and run approach and there are weapons that will speed up recovery). Hoping ring magic doesn't also rely on it, though maybe end game it will be less of an issue.
 
There should be some sort of function where if you run out of uses for a specific spell (ie Fire), you can give up your entire MP bar to regain x amount of uses for it. (So, if my max MP is 200, I immediately go into stasis, but gain 2 more uses).

This could just be useless, since we don't know how we'll replenish spell usages in the main game anyway (For all we know, it might be so unbalanced that we'll never drop below 50 for each spell). I wouldn't mind it being a little hard to come by, though. Noctis has plenty of options anyway.


Would be nice to be forced to save a specific spell for the boss of that area, and be punished for using it up beforehand, but I can see how that could be a turnoff for most people.
 
Armiger mode not that special I hope they work on it or add more and different modes

It was MUCH better in Episode Duscae, if you weren't able to try that out. This boss wasn't the best showcase for it, but Duscae had multiple enemies with long range attacks (Which armiger auto-reflects), and a massive boss with multiple targetable points.

It also has a technique where if you hold R1 and mash X, you would teleport to each enemy and do an ungodly amount of damage. Dunno why it's not here, probably locked by story/amount of swords or something.

Got it. I guess I can live with that and just wait what they come up in the final version. I'm really loving the combat though specially the air combos!
 
Yeah it really looks impressive now and I appreciate it more , man that mech will be annoying it has attacks can interrupt your regular combo and air combo sheeit


I wanna see the fight with Dragoon Lady

There's a tiny bit of it in the Reclaim Your Throne trailer, it's sooo flashy.
 
After waking up I'm still amazed I waited two days downloading what turned out to be a 15 minute demo. I stretched it out to 1:30 hoping for more but... Damn it.

Also I seriously hope you can increase text size in the final game. The HUD is TINY.

The fact that the vertical distance can be closed in a fraction of a second is something that's very under appreciated since it's a routine aspect of the combat.

Yep, I totally spent like 20 minutes just zipping up, down & across the building. It's crazy to finally be able to take control of these moments we've been seeing in FFXV trailers for years now - and the fact that it works well!

I'd hope not, and I say that as an Xbox owner. PS4 has a really legitimate headway over Xbox so it should always be doing better in resolution or framerate or some kind of nicer framebuffer effects. Pretty sure players of Destiny or other games with perfect parity are getting screwed out of something on the PS4 side.

That said, I guess since PS4 has more frame timing issues, it must sit closer to a borderline of performance where it keeps changing resolution up and down but Xbone is more settled in its range of what it can do.
 
Can easily follow up with a charge-able heavy attack using the Broadsword. (Done by pausing your combo briefly then attacking ala ED, since without the pause you'll do a regular combo).

Which would be fine and intuitive if combat wasn't designed around you holding the button down for everything (I feel like Duscae 2.0 felt more responsive when tapping but maybe I need to keep playing the Platinum demo to "get it").
