Final Fantasy XV: Platinum Demo Thread

Yeah, I know, at the end, you can summon the boss repeatedly. I actually did that unintentionally when trying to avoid ending the demo. Also, is there a reason we could name the little animal? I actually named it Trico. :P

I think that'll be what his name is in the final game, since you can only get him in the final game by beating the demo.

It will show up with that name in some capacity in the full game, either as a summon or item or something (Dunno if they ever confirmed how my good ol' Funyarinpa (Actual name TBD) will show up)

Also, if at any point you decide you want to name him something else you can beat the demo again and change the name you gave them. I felt bad naming him after one of my dogs, so when I beat it again I put their names together and named him that.

That thought process is adorable and exactly something I would do. Every time I would look at the other one, they would be like " I see which one you like more"

It is nice that you can rename carbuncle if you want. Still wish that beating the demo gave you some options like rename carbuncle from menu, start at boss fight, etc.

Yeah, I usually do it after both of them, but the first night I played it my younger dog was a bad girl so I was annoyed with her. Now today I felt bad about it so I had to fix it. And yeah, it'd be nice to be able to just start from the boss.

They should have put an enemy that's much more difficult so people could experiment. They should have put the Behemoth in.

The behemoth took forever to beat in Duscae, I'm sure non of these enemies are not even balanced yet.

It would have definitely been better than the Iron Giant. People can easily beat the Iron Giant, the stakes aren't high.

Raise the stakes and people have to try new things to succeed.

The problem is that they really don't in this demo since you can't lose. They should have just given you like 10 potions and had a thing to step on to refill them, and made you able to lose.

Yeah the behemoth killed the entire chocobros and you were done... ( unless you bought potions at the shop)

Haha, yeah, I bought 99 of them after selling stuff. The first time I beat behemoth in Duscae it was daytime in game when I started the fight, and by the time I beat him I'd passed through an entire night cycle and it was morning the next day.

Didn't Tabata say the battle with that turtle like enemy in the TGS trailer would take days? (In game)

Does Duscae 2.0 have all the same controls as Platinum Demo?

By that I mean can you hold back with the normal sword to backflip or left/right to get air combos going for example?

Duscae 2.0 added directional attacks, but that was basically done to manoeuvre left and right and do a backlip/push to jump backwards. The only special kinda attack was the Zweihander charge that you have in Platinum.

And no, it didn't have air combos.

I feel Episode Duscae was more responsive in controls, even when controlling Noct and running around. Is it just me?

Just noticed that the iron giant destroys the poles where you warp to, nice detail and it doesn't come back.

I need to learn how this combat system works.

Where can you get the shuriken and shield Noctis uses in that video?
At the top of the citadel. First defeat the boss and then summon him again. You will see two plates there. Drop down.

Nah, you cray.

Whoever this dude is.. Man did he play so clean

That was great. If that's what's going to replace menu-based combat, at least it's good.

What's great here is that making distance with the Iron Giant actually matters. If Noctis was closer that swing would have dealt a lot of damage.

Based shuriken.

nearly got all the damn gems things but decided to use that meteor attack and destroyed a box could not jump to get the very last big one.

Getting comfortable with the battle system, honestly it gets me more excited to think what they are doing with Kingdom Hearts

He got rid of the lock on I believe. Check the reticle.

Yeah, that's why I like the L1 lock on so much better than the R3 one. It's funny because the soft lock on in Duscae was pretty bad and the hard lock on was the way to go, but in this the soft lock on is fantastic.

At the moment I feel the same as benzy but I'm certain, based on these gifs, that's because I know how to use Duscae a lot better than platinum.

Platinum's definitely looser but I'm still having trouble trying to maneuver gracefully(only fought the giant 4-5 times so far). I'm always most concerned with how to make the defense work when getting into any game.

To play devil's advocate, I don't think anyone has really been able to put it through its paces in a combat situation with multiple enemies.

Anyone excited to find out how an actual aerial combat fight goes down?

Holy shit, I never noticed that. That's exciting as hell!

Well, I mean, I'm basing it also off when I'm fighting multiple enemies as Kid Noctis as well. I tend to find the soft lock on much more useful than the hard lock on, but I agree too. We haven't really seen the fully unlocked new system in action against multiple enemies.

Alright then, I guess Platinum Demo is the way to go if you want to get more familiar with the combat since it's what's going to be in the final game.

Man, Duscae was so long ago that I completely forgot how to fight so I spammed Fire to kill the Iron Giant. Watching these clean fights makes me feel like a scrub... I'll have to practice quite a bit when the game comes out!

Don't worry, you'll be able to be defeated in the main game so you'll be forced to learn to play it. I think that is why most people felt there was nothing to the combat, because there didn't have to be to win in this.

Pretty much hey.

It's like people who claim KH2's combat is simple. Until you play Critical Mode (+/- Lv1 run) and realise there's so much potential depth when you're actually forced to play better.

Oh I didn't know you couldn't die as Noctis. I just felt like my win was ultra cheap. I honestly had trouble switching between weapons mid combat and keeping on the move at the same time. I don't like that the weapon switching uses the D Pad. I'd much rather prefer shoulder buttons for that... I guess I'll have to get used to it.
