I'm glad that blood is still in the game. Noctis getting rekt.

So my question is, do organic enemies still bleed?

they will

Have they said anything about their plans for DLC yet?

There are already some preorder bonuses here and there. I think some classic weapons, songs, and alternative costumes are for sure. I hope they can add in more monsters into the game via DLCs as some post game challenges.
I remember Tabata said all DLCs, if there will be any, should be free?

Well to be specific, implication his most precious moments with his dad were few and far apart and often it seemed he didn't get to spend time with him. There was that whole thing in the demo about the toy his dad bought him but what he truly wanted was for his dad to play with him.

And the cats in the cradle with the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you coming home dad I don't know when
But we'll be together again son, it'll be a good time then

Oh okay lol

I thought you were implying something..... else

I guess. It wouldn't have changed my opinion. That fight was a joke anyway. "HOLD O!!"

Don't be so sure about that. I, like you thought the combat was terrible in my first play through as well, until I come back, fight the level 15 Iron Giant with the additional two secret weapons, learn what each weapon could and couldn't do, learn enemy's attack pattern, learn to attack in air and the combat becomes way more fun to play.

Nope, not a word. Expecting costumes and preorder dlc weapons are guaranteed.. Japan getting Lightning's sword.

Not just Japan, my pre-order is getting that one too. Pretty sweet looking although I'm assuming it won't be any good. Pre-order DLC generally isn't

The cosmetic stuff makes sense. If there isn't heaps of story-DLC tacked on, then it definitely looks worthy of a day-1 purchase if reviews are favorable.

Really? Here in NA it's just the Katana. I hope the buster sword and gun blade come as well.

Compare this to Duscae where you pretty much held down the attack button with the occasional triangle specials.

They weren't kidding when they said they weren't done with the combat when Duscae came out. I initially expected them to just make some tweaks but this is a complete revamp.

People wanted manual switching thank god everyone United on that end.

Yup, we're getting that good old blazefire saber at a certain retailer. In Belgium of all places, but maybe that means it'll be a common bonus throughout Europe? Although to be fair Square Enix actually tends to be pretty good about Benelux perks for some reason, so maybe this is just one of those.

I had pre-ordered the deluxe on the Square Enix store first, but I just couldn't abandon Lightning like that. Those cards didn't look that good anyway. <3

Okay that's not true, I just really like that sword design. And who knows, maybe the store will get it too and I did all that for no reason. Well, at least I won't have to bother with shipping. :|

The Numb Blade is such a cool design.

Also, does he knock Noctis' sword into the air here? How's that supposed to work?

Sure come a long way and it's been a long time since we saw him:

Welcome back to Final Fantasy, Numb Blade! It's been 24 years, and you're still goin' strong!

This game looks so good if not for the random dogshit IQ. It's weird that such a major problem like that got shipped to the public, it's obvious the engine is capable of rendering it fine.

I mostly come from a KH background. I played a decent chunk of FF7 (still intend to finish it). Grew up watching my friend play FFIX? (The one that had Vivi in it) and FFX.

You need to play III-VI then VII-X. Then XII

And no my avatar is Nier from Nier. (the Japanese version of Nier)

Paid and free, nothing set in stone yet:

I definitely intend to played VI and IX, I heard nothing but good things from those games. Apparently Kefka is one of the best villains? Or so I've heard.

Gotcha.

FFIX is an absolute masterpiece. X is my favorite, but IX is better than most games, let alone other FFs/JRPGs.

So VI, VIII and IX it is. I might as well add VII in there too since I'm playing it. Which one had Kain Highwind? Is that IV?

Yes, IV. Many old fans were introduced to the series by IV so they always have a soft spot for it. Personally I think IV has aged quite a bit. IX and VI are the must-plays. Overall I'd say all the FF games are pretty good, even FFXIII offers some unique experience.
I recommend III if you want a taste of the old JRPGs.

Why spoil the surprise? Anything is possible even via
DLC

Oh I don't know for sure, I just can't imagine a game that has done so well bringing classic enemies in to get cheap with one of the most iconic enemies. I bet they live deep in a dungeon somewhere, and maybe they'll come out of that dungeon during the night time.

I'll say this beforehand I like FF with modern aesthetics so my faves are the following:

1) VIII
2) VI ( I know 7 is more modern but I love 6 ;P)
3) VII

I meant like a hearts of stone dlc but hopefully it's like you said.

Side note: is that avatar of yours Riku or Raiden?

Once you beat FFVII, you may as well play Crisis Core. It's got a solid action combat system, which I thought was way better than that in Type-0, and it's also directed by Tabata. Story/characters were crap though.

But for general FF recommendation:

FFV: Fantastic gameplay with job system (or you can play Bravely Default and its sequel for similar style gameplay but further improved)
FFVI: Best FF.
FFVII: Second best FF
FFVIII: It's mixed among fanbase, but I liked it. Modern setting, reminiscent of XV.
FFIX: Must play FF
FFX: Pretty good.
FFXII: Also pretty good.
FFXIII: Skip at all cost.

If you want to check out FFIV, consider DS version. Best gameplay out of all versions.

Thank you so much for the replies, I do have a soft spot for old JRPGs, I just love that feeling of getting lost in those games. On that note, I should also finish Chrono Trigger XD

You can beat CT in a day or two, that game is fantastic. Imagine that game being remade with toriyama Art *drools. A game that doesn't get much love it's Lunar silver star complete man that game got heart ( not made by SE I know ) but it should be mentioned among classic RPGs.

Can't argue about the story, but I thought people generally love Zack? I do see him in many top FF characters lists.

Zack and the ending are about the only thing that are superb... But Genesis bleh and constant Angealllll worship.

Bahamut is Goat! He looks amazing in that game.

I love how they are updating old FF monster designs for the current gen :')
It's also, oddly enough, the first FF in a LONG time to feature enemies(and their classic designs) that have been absent for a LONG time in the series.

Usually, what you get in the FF series is that when they decide to use a certain enemy, if it's not one of the iconic FF monsters(Behemoth, Bomb, Flan, Tonberry, Cactaur...), they'll redesign it to fit into the new game's world. And even the iconic monsters aren't safe from this(Bombs in FFXIII are a prime example of this). FFXV, on the other hand, seem to be drawing mainly from the classic designs of many of these monsters. Goblins, for instance, haven't looked like this since the NES days. Sure, we've gotten goblins in the FF series, but the more modern depictions of goblins tend to look more like this:

FFXV's goblins date back to the 1988 Amano designs for FFII's goblins:

And of course, FFV's Garulas:

Not only is this game striving to set itself apart by doing something new, it's also not ashamed of its heritage(you could even say the team's proud the legacy of the FF series, especially what the older games brought to the table regarding monster design).
