Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Official Thread of Greatness

I don't see how you can honestly say that FE7 is "obsolete" for someone who is unfamiliar with the series.
Okay, confession time.

I hate Lyn with the fury of a thousand suns. Eliwood too, but with the fury of maybe a couple dozen suns.

Hector's cool, though.

No. What am I going to call it? FE1: Remake 2: Remake Harder?
Or FE1/3/11?

Bleh. Next time refer to it appropiately by don't contradicting yourself first (by saying that the handheld iterations of the franchise are *obsolete* when the upcoming remake will be on a...ahem, handheld).

What about those of us that have multiple saves? Will it pull supports from all our saves, and if I have one character maxed on one save and another maxed on another, will it read both of those and provide the stat bonuses accordingly? Or am I going to be screwed having to pick one file to go with?

This is a good question and I do not know what the answer is. Maybe an importer can help you.

Pretty much. If any of 'em are expendable, it's Sacred Stones (FE8). But FE7 is totally fucking amazing, in some ways more so than FE9 (PoR), thanks to its relative age and the platform it's on.
FE8 is the weakest of the US released games but I wouldn't call it expendable. Still a damn good game in it's own right.

What? How? When promoted she's damn near untouchable!

Good grief....Nintendo doesn't even try to market their hardcore games. They think it's just a enough for a few magazine and web space ads. How they can get the Wii marketing so right and then b0rk the software advertising is something I'll never figure out.

I wouldn't call it expendable either. But if I HAD to choose one of the three (so far) localized FE games to drop, it'd be that one by a long shot.

Don't bother wasting words on the Lyn haters, I've dealt with their kind before in the SSBB thread. It's not worth it.

The only thing worse than a Lyn fan is two Lyn fans.

And Mia fans. Man, do I hate those. And it's a good thing Ilyana sucks and doesn't have many fanboys, cause that's about the one thing that might make me redo The List.

Yeah I guess I'd have to agree with you.

Ironically it is the FE that I have spent the most time playing

can we get back to discussing radiant dawn instead of bitching over the previous games?

my biggest disappointment about Radiant Dawn is that they made it much harder to see Ilyana's panties in battle.

I think the thinking is that Nintendo knows it can save money on advertising because they already invested all the advertising of FE in smash brothers cameos and the copious amount of FE7 advertising back in the day. Now FE has an established fanbase in the US (it even outsells japanese versions) and NOA couldn't be happier about its money saving.

I didn't know that PoR's graphics were detailed enough to show panties.

Radiant Dawn's certainly are though.

If that is what you call "getting the discussion back on track" I'd hate to see what you call "derailing the thread"

You might want to look closer at the tv screen the next time you replay PoR and use Ilyana during a battle.

What you just posted = derailing the thread, jerk. :lol

FE hasn't needed advertisements to sell in NA since FE7. It'll do fine - it's not like it has any RPG competition on the Wii.

What? Are you serious? I always thought Fire Emblem was a cult favorite and we were lucky to have it.

Are you one of those annoying elitists who get mad at people who use whoever they want instead of a certain set of characters who are "obviously better" than others?

God, those people make FE fandom look retarded.

BTW Ilyana was my #1 killer in both my PoR and RD saves.

Then you must have dumped every stat-boosting item onto her.

I'm not an "elitist" as the desription you put it. In fact, I also use somewhat enderpowered characters that I personally prefer, like Elincia. Thankfully, PoR's playable characters are so good, not many of them are downright unplayable.

Ilyana is one of them.

20 SPD average at 20/20 is about as unplayable as you can get. You can't double-attack even the slowest of units, bar a particularly screwed General, and get doubled by everything that isn't a General.
Using Ilyana is akin to a handicapped playthrough.

Using math or formulas or whatever bullshit posted on FE fan forums doesn't mean anything. Have you even played Radiant Dawn?

I didn't use any stat up items and I had a great Ilyana. Call it a stroke or luck or whatever, it doesn't matter, because I had fun using her and could have cared less if the game would have been slightly easier if I used someone else.

And newsflash, PoR and RD aren't exactly so difficult (even on the highest difficulty setting) that the difference between using Ilyana instead of Soren is game breaking.

Not everyone who plays Fire Emblem has to obssess over statistics.

Yyyyyyyeeeaaaah, no. How many playthroughs have you had a great Ilyana?

How about you get off your high horse and stop getting emo over people's character usages?
Not answering? Fine. I can live with that.

So, what're Ilyana's growths in PD? Serious question.

In PoR during my first playthrough (which I fudged bigtime on and abandoned near the end to restart completely) Titania and Oscar were monsters, every later playthrough they were completely usesless with practically no gains in their main stats despite being at higher levels. :(

Which characters you use, besides a certain few, ends up being a complete luck of the draw from what I've seen. :-/

Exceptional characters always happen if you play enough. I've had a Boyd max Defense quite a number of levels before he hit the cap. I've also had one Soren who did a no-gain level up twice in a row, then again sometime after that.

However, to bank on characters due to one amazing run isn't all that wise.

Well, to be fair, FEs in Japan usually fail to crack 150k. FEDS might change that trend, though.

And Fire Emblem usually sells over 200k in NA. We love us some turn base strategy

Thanks for that site, much better than the thing eaichu tries to pass off for one. If only he updated...
Ilyana's growths are considerably better, but still don't adress her speed... hope her bases are better this time.

When I have a choice between man and female, I usually for for the female :)
Lynn and Mia FTW. Also, BEXP FTW (I always try to max out character's stats increase)

Yeah, I noticed a lot of Ilyana's panties. I was even worried that I might have to close my son's eye every time it happen (since my son is only 6/7 years old at that time, and he enjoy watching me play POR).
For the life of me, I couldn't even remember whether the panties are white or black.

You know, it's one thing to talk about stat progression and high level play in Smash or Pokemon, or hell, pretty much any fighting game, but Fire Emblem? Is there a competitive base for FE out there that I am unaware of, or is this stat crunching just for the single player?

That's all fine and dandy as long as said females weren't annoying as fuck. Case in point.

Its a STRATEGY ROLE PLAYING game. Of course there is going to be stat crunching

Well of course, no need to get hostile. But I played and enjoyed all of the FEs without knowing what the average stats are for each character, just that character A seems stronger than character B in certain aspects.

I've bought every Fire Emblem since FE7... And I don't think I've played a better one yet.

I capitalized for emphasis, I wasn't trying to be hostile. Sorry about that.

To be honest I never looked in the maximum stats of the characters either, though I understand why people do.

My mistake, but I agree, if that's how people enjoy their game, then more power to them, but I've always made up my teams of "Who looks the coolest" when playing. :lol

I used Illyana. On hard she never once got double attacked.

I also used Mist. Mist gets called the worst character in the game, but she's actually pretty damn good. Mine maxed out magic, strength, and speed. She could kill almost anything in 1 hit with that wind sword, and she was a great healer, since she could heal and then get out of attack range.

After a bit of searching for one of my GameCube memory cards, I decided to pop in PoR and see my character stats.

I hope I didn't miss anyone, don't want to watch the epilogue again. Here are all my level 20's:

Rhys
Reyson
Nasir (Actually 19, but close)
Tibarn
Geoffrey
Haar
Ranulf
Tanith
Volke
Lethe
Shinion
Oscar
Nephenee
Zihark
Ike
Soren
Titania

Ike:
Str 24
Mag 11
Skill 27
Sp 28
Lk 19
Def 29
Res 18

So which of these characters will get boosts?

EDIT: *Realizes now he could have gone under options and looked at the stats*

Argh! I never once thought of using her with a magic sword. D'oh!

so why is FE8 sacred stones widely considered an inferior game?

It's pretty easy, short, and the story and characters weren't up to the series' standards.

Good game regardless, and it's perfect for newbies to the series.

Can't wait for this game's Pal release in 2009.
if ever

Anyway I started PoR last week and I'm whipping myself for having it since 1 year. It's my first FE btw, how many games there are?
