Fire Emblem Warriors - Warriors' Awakening (new trailer)

Not like musou gameplay is particularly interesting

Still more interesting than this collection of awful anime cliche lines thrown over random scenes.

This game's character selection is poor and slightly insulting from the perspective of a moderately long-time fan but Frederick's not a bad guy, even if he's a bit flat. I'll hold out a little hope for this game still, but I'm not sold.

Musou games get me to purchase them by being a decent generic action template to slap licenses over, but when it's the license side of things letting the game down, mashing light and heavy attack for dozens of hours isn't enough incentive to purchase.

To be honest, Axe Lissa is the FIRST exciting character so far.

So I am pleasantly surprised for once with this game

(Same goes for Frederick to a lesser extent)

Her base still is only a staff. It is like giving Corrin a Tome because she can use it in Conquest.

probably based Lissa off her War Cleric design from Fire Emblem Cipher the card game series

I assume that the characters they showed in this trailer is pretty much what we'll get out of Awakening. I could see a few more characters getting announced tho like Tharja or Cordelia.

She seems to be dropping a lot of her previous roles - Chun-Li and Kud Trunks come to mind.

I wonder why, is it due to the strike?
Nah. Because Matthew Mercer is still in it as well as the other union VAs. Probably just a scheduling conflict.

Tharja better be in. A Pegasus Knight char is also likely. So Cordelia or Sumia.

Cool trailer. I'm really looking forward to this game. Hyrule Warriors was a lot of fun, so I hope that FE Warriors is just as enjoyable.

It's more than a scheduling conflict, I think. Alexis Tipton has played Lucina in two separate Fire Emblem Heroes updates as well.

Matt Mercer will also work outside of union IIRC (if I'm wrong on this, someone please correct me) and I think his union is different than Laura Baileys as well.

Then she's probably just moved onto new work. Laura Bailey is a pretty prolific VA after all.

It's not going to be a union thing though since the strike was targeting a couple of Western publishers and voice recording studios that Nintendo rarely utilizes. The union strike doesn't seem to affect anything of Japanese origins (for the most part)

Being a Fire Emblem character must be extremely disorienting.
For any number of reasons you could find yourself lost in an entirely different world.

Anyway, glad to see Frederick made the cut.

Did Laura Bailey voice Lucina in Heroes? It sounds like her, but she's the only character I've come across who has no voice credit.

Laura Bailey is doing Uncharted right now.

She voiced the first lucina and palla in fire emblem heroes, but hasn't voiced any other variant.

That trailer was awful. Text popping up between random cut scene transitions to explain whats going on with no real build up or excitement about anything. It was exceptionally boring to watch and just a showcase of each character for a few seconds at best. No gameplay as well which would have helped to flesh out and build tension between each characters reveal but nope just throwing a few seconds to highlight each character and onto the next.

That's like every trailer for Japanese games. Can't remember the last time I saw gameplay in one of these.

Just as I've finally secured pre-orders for the SNES Classic Mini and the Metroid - Samus Returns Limited Edition...there will most likely be another fight against the scalping hordes of eBay, right? *sigh*

Found the trailer pretty boring

as for the characters
Frederick , Chrom and Lissa appeared in the Fates DLC so not too surprising
and both Robin and Lucina were obvious choices
Lissa is only one i kind of like

Almost thought this was a remake of awakening

with them finding the twins in the forest avatar style and the lucina vs Chrom part
It felt a bit like that

...Tharja?

She'll be in for sure. come now

Yeah, for some reason they're doing an awful job making this game look exciting. And that's coming from someone who loved Hyrule Warriors and begged for a Fire Emblem version. So far I don't think their character choices are very interesting either.

Yes Axe users! Those bitching about the roster we already have known the roster will be Shadow Dragon, Awakening and Fates characters. Sure I would love other characters but complainng about it now won't change what the roster is going to be. Though the E3 footage did not look the greatest I am still looking forward to it regardless.

I played through Awakening twice and never considered promoting Lissa to War Cleric, so seeing her with an axe is really jarring to me.

Yeah, her just moving on sounds likely to me, but I can't say much for certain. Didn't mean to suggest that it's a strike thing, though- just saying that Matt being back doesn't mean much.

The character choices are a big problem to be sure, making this game center around Fates/Awakening/FE1 was a huge mistake. FE has so many different characters to draw from and unfortunately by limiting it to centering around those 2 games (clearly Fates/Awakening is what its really focusing on) they are limiting the potential of what the game could do. Just compare it to Fire Emblem Heroes on Mobile and imagine they did the same thing, people would have stopped playing it right from the get go but because it has such a vast array of characters with new ones popping up rather regularly its doing extremely well.

There are dozens of fan favorites and we aren't even getting a bone thrown at us yet about them, its just the standard MC groups so far which are generally the most boring and basic characters of each game.
