^ Someone posted a zoomed in pic of the text. And it looks like my eyes weren't lying to me, Firefox's anti-aliasing of the text leaves more red around it which leads to the blurry effect.

I posted this in the other thread. Left side is Firefox, right side is Camino. Firefox renders text a little soft and blurry compared to Camino. Any way to change this?
Those are exactly the same, you're a fool.

[edit] Ah, I am the fool. But only half, because most of that text is identical.

Maybe Firefox is a bit blurrier, but Camino is already blurry as hell.

Also site is loading much better now, but no 3.0 yet.

Zoom in a couple of times, and check the "n" in June wrestling thread, for example. You can see Firefox's "n" has got some extra shadowing or whatever.

I hope you can turn that off, didn't like that at all in IE. Crisp and sharp, yes, there may be jaggies. But crisp.

Also, wow, all sites are down, must've been hammered to hell.

I just installed that package that's on their FTP and the page it brings up when it starts is the RC3 welcome page. It doesn't install itself to C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 3 though like the release candidate used to. I'll be downloading from the site as well later.

Edit: All Mozilla sites seem to be down. I bet that's not gonna help their downloads much. :lol

I don't look at websites zoomed in, so ... meh. Looks fine to me.

I don't either, but for some reason it's a huge distraction to me. Maybe I just have really sharp eyesight. :D

This is the link for the real Firefox 3. If you go here:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-rc.html

You'll see all the links for Release Candidate 3. Just take "rc3" out of the URL for any of those languages and voila, you've got Firefox 3.

Edit: There's nothing to show that the version I linked up there is RC3 besides the fact that all the links go to the RC3 pages. It doesn't install to the same directory as RC3 and is in a completely different section under a completely different filename on Mozilla's server. But, if this really is RC3, it should prompt us to update to Firefox 3.

This is crazyyyy! I thought it would have dropped at midnight! I'm in a chatroom CNET has set up, and people are just waiting for the website to be updated!

But www.getfirefox.com is down, and so is mozilla.org!

This is insanity.

Question--- Should I uninstall my RC2 and let Firefox2 do the install?

Comparing the CRC of the .exe just posted to the one I downloaded from one of the FTPs on page one -- these are the same files.

Both of those link to the same page, or are you saying the CRC from the RC3 exe and the one I just posted are the same?

How is the transition process between FF3.0 and FF2.0? Is it smooth? Will it keep all my bookmarks, for example, automatically?

No... the .exe I downloaded came from this post...

I downloaded the .exe linked in your post and compared it to the one I had downloaded and the CRC's matched up. Only reason I bring this up is because a couple people were saying that the files found on the Mozilla FTP were still RC3.

Did you match up the actual RC3 exe and the one I posted? I'm curious if those match. They're the same filesize. I'd do it myself but the RC3 exe is really taking forever to download.

Edit: Nevermind. It's gotta be the right version. They updated that webpage and everything.

Got a link? I'll give it a try.

EDIT - Grabbed RC3 and the CRC matches up with the .exe on the FTP and that you posted. Not sure whats going on unless RC3 is the final release.

Hmm. Well, the NL website linked that one as well. Unless they decided to put faux releases up, then RC3 is the final release.

The NL one linked above actually has a different CRC than those posted so far in this thread.

Every time I refresh I'm seeing different backgrounds on the download site. Hot air balloons, birds, UFOs...

Also this on the top of the page: "<<<<<<< .mine ======= >>>>>>> .r15918"

Still no working link to 3.0 yet though.

Same here. When I saw that weird text crawling up on the screen, I thought the site had been hacked. What an opportunity for hackers.

Firefox 3 coming soon!
mshapiro · 10:39, June 17th, 2008 · Firefox, Mozilla News

The outpouring of interest and enthusiasm around Firefox 3 has been overwhelming (literally!). Our servers are currently feeling the burn and should be back to normal shortly. Download day will officially commence once the site goes live. The 24 hours period will be clocked from that moment. Thanks for your continued support.

Still says 2.0.1.4 for me.

It links to 3.0, a new file 7.8MB large (.7MB larger than the one I posted) but it's coming up with a Page Load Error.
