First Anno Wii Screens

cws

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Developed by BlueByte/Keen Games., it has already been rated by the german USK - should be getting a firm release date soon.

Looks pretty nice imo and it isn't just a port of of the older PC Versions.

I loved the DS version. Very good interface and addictive gameplay. I don't like the cartoon look of this one though. I'll buy this for the awesome gameplay :P

I was expecting a blurry, jumbled, hard-to-read mess. Not too bad at all for the resolution they have to work with...

Interesting cartoon look. Hopefully it plays well.

Yeah, it could be way worse - look at Sim City 4 Wii.

I'm huge anno whore so I'm most likely gonna buy this. And I really don't mind if it's more "casual". Civilization Revolution was still good game even though it was more "casual". Variety is good.

BTW I really like the art style.

Yes we should get a sequel to the DS one, instant classic as far as handheld RTS go.

Impressive

If you Wii owners don't buy this, you have no right to bitch about shovelware on that platform by perpetuating a status quo and rejecting quality right in your fucking faces!

Anno games are GREAT!

Tony The Tiger GREAT!

Looks interesting. I wonder if it will be promoted in any way so Wii owners and retailers (so it can actually be stocked and put out for people to buy) know it exist and what type of game it actually is. Shovelware has a store presence (it wouldn't be bought otherwise). A lot of times people have no clue a game even exist due to lack of advertising or stores simply not stocking the game (perhaps they have no clue about it themselves or what it actually is). Not fair to blame Wii owners themselves when developers/publishers do a piss poor job of building interest for their own product.

The game is absolutely awesome.
At first I felt the artstyle was forced and cliché ("we need to cather to Wii usebase" bullshit) but when you go past the graphics it really is freaking nice.

FINALLY the Wii getting the kind of games it was designed for.

.

history-based rts with a focus on city-building? what's the pacing like? what kind of decisions are you making generally (tech trees and building placement? battle strategy?)? is there a good gameplay description somewhere?

You've played it?

Stop doing this.

Yes I tried it. Some testing is actually done on this game like 30 feets from me in the office.

. (is that REALLY annoying? How about that guy with the "peace" and technopathetic not quoting proper? right now I like to do that for some reason.)

Fuck you.
I was thinking I had dirt on my screen and tried to get it off >:(
Use something less annoying, like DCX or PEACE.
lol...your temper is ova 9000

@ranger_x

thx for the impression, i guess it'll tunr out good - just like the ds games...

I don't mink how it looks, but why do developers always feel the urge to make the Wii version of their franchises as cartoony as possible? This is getting ridiculous.

That said, it's good to know the Anno series is going strong. It's too bad that I don't have enough time anymore to play strategy games; I've bought Anno 1701 DS, but it's just sitting there with only a bunch of hours of play.

Yeah looks like it's based off of the DS visual style, which is a good thing.

Strategy games are a pretty stodgy and high concept genre that appeals to a small niche crowd in PCs.

Here's what Civilization turned into when it hit the consoles.

It's getting there, seriously.

Anno on DS was a really good adaptation and if you liked that one it's quite impossible for you to not like it on the Wii.

I also wonder what the hell is wrong with Civilisation Revolutions? That was an excellent game and another prime example that "we are getting there".

SimCity Creator on the Wii is also a nice example of a God game on consoles.

.

This looks great.

I hope that game turns out as good as the ds version. And I hope they don't leave out any major features like they do with the PC version :/

One of my biggest gaming regrets is the fact that I've never played any of the Anno games. I've been looking into picking up this for awhile now. Still, this Wii version looks rather nice and most of what I've read about the DS version has been very positive (aside from the fact that it's impossible to find).

To be fair, Civ4 was pretty cartoony to begin with. CivRev is a wonderful, simplified version of its PC counterpart. Sure, it's had some things trimmed down, and unfortunately, the AI is not up to par, but I was really impressed with it. There's really nothing wrong with it from a design standpoint. I mean, as a PC gamer who owns a couple consoles and a portable gaming system, why would I want a direct port, anyway?

I picked up the DS version and I would say that my only complaint was the AI.

This looks better than I was expecting, I loved the DS version even if it's not the PC version so I'll keep an eye on it. :D

Is this being published by Ubisoft? Between this and Broken Sword it looks like they finally want to put some quality games on Wii.

Graphics are usually not the most important part of these types of games anyway.

Civ Rev's problems were not about graphics. Besides, Civ leaders are usually cartoonish anyway.

diggin the art style.

also,
another wii game that does self-shadowing, 4 or 5 altogether now, i believe

i was looking forward to the Wii version of that, too bad they cancelled it.

Unless you dont have a 360 or DS, you wouldn't miss it.

The DS version is really pretty spectacular for being a portable Civ. I prefer good old Civ3 when I'm at home however.

It looks damn nice! It feels like this wouldn't be hard for new players to join in on the awesomeness that is Anno too, it is inviting. It also has a polish feel to it, if the controls and gameplay is good then it's pretty much a must buy!

Also, looking at the website of Keen Games, it says this under recent products:

undisclosed project (Nintendo Wii™)

undisclosed project (Nintendo DS™)

undisclosed project (Nintendo Wii™)

undisclosed project (Nintendo DS™)

So 1 of the Wii games is Anno Wii (made with BlueByte), I hope one of the DS games is a sequal to Anno DS.
