This is A TON better than that shitty trailer.

Perhaps I wrote this movie off too soon.

I saw Tom Cruise with modern military, guns, explosions, running a lot, etc... it kind of looks like a Mission Impossible movie with a magical mummy thrown in it.

Heard from people working on the film that it's more of a horror movie, not an action movie, and they were also surprised by the tone the trailer conveyed.

Considering that BTS feature looked pretty cool, I'm gonna let myself be cautiously optimistic.

Watched the trailer again and now I'm in 100%.

The design of the sarcophagus is creepy and the tone is tense. The action might be a bit much, but I suspect it's mostly from one portion of the film and will probably work in context.

I feel for the 90s kids trapped by their love for the "original"
lol
, but I am looking forward to seeing a horror movie featuring action-mode Tom Cruise fighting a sexy mummy.

It's the first time I've been interested in a tom cruise movie prior to its release since war of the worlds.

It could work, hopefully Kurtzman doesn't get in his own way. Dude is a wasteman and this universe could be great if they let it. I like the underwater mummies I saw a glimpse of and that shot of him in the roadside a lot. Looks creepy.

Edit: also guys, Brendan Fraser is in something good again. Dude's showing up in this latest season of the affair...he got pretty fat tho lol

That Inside Look is really well put together and sells the movie 100x better.

And yeah, Brendan has a part on The Affair this season and is killing it. Might be an upswing for him.

I think that's exactly the idea. A typical action Tom Cruise vehicle with some supernatural shit going on. It becomes somewhat unusual. I actually found that contrast the best thing about this.

Am I alone in feeling we might get some sympathetic mummy shit from this?
Im getting a vibe that Tom has to rescue/save the mummy from the curse that is making her an evil mummy.

Could be completely off, just a weird sense I got from it.

We got sympathetic mummy in the last ones as well.

We also got unsympathetic mummy

But is she a skeleton at some point or is she human-looking the whole time? That's all I want to know.

holy shit somebody please archive this video. the girl's scream when the parachute is pulled and Tom's yelping is killing me.

yeah it's what has me kinda sorta looking forward to it. I'm really burnt out on tom cruise action franchises, mission impossible series as well. a big genre twist (in this case horror) like this is exactly what it needed if he's so intent on doing these.

I'm always up for a Tom Cruise film or an epic action-horror, so I have no problem with the concept. The trailer released didn't do much for me, but the Inside Look video was really cool.

My only big question mark is Kurtzman. The cast is great, the premise is cool, I like the tone that they talk about on paper, I just need to see how they pull it off. I love the swaggering charm of the '99 flick (but I hate the sequels) and I like the original. They're radically different in tone, and going for an even more different tone for this iteration is fine, I just hope they bring the epic horror.

Yeah, see, this looked a LOT better than the trailer. There was a lot of cool stuff in this.

I do like in that interview with Kurtzman tho that Cruise's character in this one is amoral. I always enjoy Cruise when he's not the out and out good guy (Cage in Edge of Tomorrow or Vincent in Collateral).

The laughs from that trailer brought me to tears.
I hope someone saves that, it's internet history in the making.

Oh, when the parachute cord is pulled and the woman gets pulled out, she sounds like she stubbed her toe while eating a Kit-Kat.

Followed up by that absurd sounding scream.

Best video of the year.
