First Generation PS3 content Missing on PSN

It's because you have to rebuild the game to make a digital version. And then test it. It costs money.

This is a terrible argument, it costs less money than making and releasing a new release. There is nothing but profit to be gained from this effort. For example. PS2 games have to go through emulation to work, PS3 title, is already working fully on the hardware.

There are more old PSN games that have vanished from the store:

GTI Club Rally

Mortal Kombat 2

OutRun Online Arcade (Licence issue with ferrari)

Even though they stay in your download list, it's worrying to see digital content vanishing. It does not make the furure look good.

EDIT: Ahh, I missread OP. I thought you meant that they were there, but gone now.

Add to you list no MLB: The Show games, no Heavy Rain, no GOW III, no GT5, they just very recently added Demon's Souls ... it is very odd indeed. You'd think those games would be the ones to get first dibs on DD.

I believe they responded on an old ps blog post that GT5 is way too big to be a digital title.

PS4 Enhanced Editions coming soon.

Folklore is so amazing looking, that I can't see how a PS4 enhancement would actually improve the game. Maybe smooth out some of the jaggies, bump up some of the ground textures or something?

Folklore is a beautiful fricking game. Such clean, focused art design. Damn I love that game. Bring it back, Sony!! *cries*

Anyway, I'm not sure why some of those games aren't on the PSN. I think it's a combination of age, size, and maybe not having the manpower to devote to making sure such old games function properly running digitally. Fortunately, I have just about all the games the OP listed (*heart* Heavenly Sword, Folklore, and Warhawk!).

This is a terrible argument
It's not a terrible argument, it's just the argument. There's time, cost and resources required for Sony to certify that previously disc only games will also play fine as digital downloads. That's why the only one on your list that is available for download is Warhawk, because it was offered that way to begin with.

Now, whether it's worth it for Sony to go back and covers these bases depends on how you prioritize their finite resources. Obviously, Sony doesn't consider it a priority.

Folklore not being on there is insane, no one got to play that first time. Think of the basically free PSN+ title they could have with it? Crazy really.

didn't James Stevenson say leading up to the release of the Resistance Trilogy that we wouldn't see the games on PSN due to size? I'd imagine that's the problem for a few of these (e.g. why Uncharted 1 & 2 are on PSN but 3 isn't)
