First list of Xbox One backward compatibility games revealed

Awesome! Doom, Doom II, Lego Star Wars Complete Saga. Rainbow Six Vegas, Sonic CD, and few games. More than enough to keep me busy for a while. (If Fallout 4 doesn't keep me TOO busy ;)

Glad to know Halo: Reach and more are coming, hopefully next month. Surprised Call of Duty: Black Op is coming, happy to hear Activision is onboard.

Ctrl+f Civ Rev. Ctrl+f Sid Meier.

Woah what happened? I remember being in attendance at their conference and I KNOW I saw Civ Rev and Sonic Adventure 2 tiles revolving on their Backwards Compatibility screen. :(

I'm actually super disappointed, my friend and I have been actively looking forward to play some Civ Rev this month.

I'm a huge fan of what Microsoft is doing with BC, but I think this list is very, very bad.

Way too many Arcade games that no one cares about, few big hitters, none of the top requested games on uservoice.

Let's hope MS can improve their persuasion powers with publishers in the future.

Pretty dismal showing to launch BC on. Curious to see how far they'll actually go with adding compatible titles, I can't see it being super popular with a list like this.

All the Gears games from getting Gears Ultimate was really all I wanted at the moment but Crazy Taxi is a must. SO many good times with CT on the DC and I think my wife and daughter might like it too so I have no complaints with the list as it stands now.

Man, I knew Hydro Thunder wouldn't be on it. I thought there was a pretty good chance of Fable Anniversary being on it. I didn't expect Halo Reach to not be included.

Nothing for me here.

Cant wait to see the complaints everywhere because some people didnt read the list.

I hope they add more pretty fast.

I dont get why Fable Anniversary isnt there. That game is a UE3 game too like all the Gears Games and Mirrors Edge.

I was hoping for Alan Wake, BioShock and Star Trek Legacy, but this initial list isn't terrible. Nice to see a lot of stuff other than shooters on there. Of course it feels like 20% of the titles are just from Rare Replay.

I had a feeling this XB1 compatibility would be more like 360 then others.

If it was as easy as "flipping a switch" as it was discussed, we would have more Microsoft Game Studios games here.

Until Microsoft proves me wrong, I don't trust them to be an encompassing solution.

"Rayman 3 HD"
"The Stick of Truth"
"Gears"

I'm very surprised that Activision is in, I hope Rockstar will let Microsoft port RDR and GTA IV.

I agree that it a a weak list. Was hoping for RDR and Undead nightmare. Still glad we got Gears 3 tho, probably my top 3 most played 360 game.

Disappointing but there are some welcome things on this list. Ignoring the ones we already had confirmation of (i.e. Gears titles, Rare titles, the ones already available to preview members), here are the ones that are interesting to me:

Fable 2 - In the backlog, never actually played it
Lumines Live - Yay!
Pinball FX - There are tables in the 360 version that are not available on any other platform so this is awesome.

That's about it.

For a lot of things, it will be, but with emulation you're going to have to factor in people testing every nook and cranny in a full playthrough to make sue things don't break.

I think the switch flipping comment is more around making it live rather than actually testing anything.

Here's my 360 game list:

Lost Odyssey
Eternal Sonata
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 3
Halo Reach
Halo Anniversary
Halo 3
Halo 4
Halo 3: ODST
Bioshock
Bioshock 2
Bioshock Infinity
Skyrim
Fable Anniversary
Fable II
Fable III

2 games only.

I'm really surprised at the amount of "I'm surprised special-tech totting, hard-on-the-console games aren't on the release list!" comments.

We've got quite a few that are coming through retail incentives (Just Cause 2, Halo and Gears games), but beyond that, of course the initial list consist of things that share similar architecture, and therefor are probably easier to port (Sega Vintage, Behemoth games), or things that don't push all the nuanced segments of the hardware (arcade games, simpler retail, earlier releases.)

And for a service that doesn't even really encourage new purchases (Unlike PSNow, which requires new purchases to play stuff on PS4), I find it hard to see why so many are SOOOO Disappointed over some of the early omissions.

And again, for those who ask about Delisted games, Golden Axe was Delisted when the Vintage Collection released. . So seeing it on the list gives hope to things like Yaris (HA!), Outrun, and Afterburner Climax possibly making it sometime.

There's stuff like Geometry Wars though, that works flawlessly (as far as I can tell) that aren't on the list. There's definitely more to it than the games simply working. I'm thinking they've got some sort of "release schedule" for what goes out monthly.

If I bought Perfect Dark XBLA on 360, this will come over just fine on the Xbone right?

Just need Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and I literally would not need to own a 360 anymore...but knowing Capcom, I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon if ever.

No Bayonetta, no metal gear collection, no nier, no vanquish, no red dead, no PGR.

I didn't ask for this. Dogshit list.

Yes Perfect Dark will work.

No, UMvC3 is probably not ever happening (and is likely out of Capcom's hands). Which is why I somewhat disagree with the whole "stop whining guys, stuff will get added" posts. If BC was there at XB1 launch, then something like UMvC3 may have made it in before getting delisted. Some of these games (Daytona) are on a deathclock, and so the longer they go without being added, the better chance they have of being lost forever.

Why isn't ShadowRun on the list.

Someone, tell me why. Please. WTF. It's a first party game. They owned the studio. Why isn't it on the list?

If your xbox live account has a license for a game from that BC list, it will appear ready to install on xbox one.

I think quite a few devs are probably happier going down the remaster route, and don't want to damage that revenue stream by making the game available via BC. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to hear of a Red Dead remaster at some point

Is Geometry Wars not on the list?

I've been playing it on the Xbox One via the Preview Program and it played great from what I can tell.

I mean, I knew the list was gonna be lacking, but damn thats disappointing.

Hyped to play Gears again but I'm also a little worried about Ultimate Editions population.

Gimme Tekken Tag and Halo Wars!

Not every developer will remaster their games, so making their titles available on new hardware is the next best thing. I doubt we'll see a remaster of WarTech ever.

gives me hope that the performance of their emulator if it's good enough to run Gears 3

waiting for Splinter Cell Blacklist and the Geo Wars now

I expect to see them dump a list of games every month along with conveniently timed sales on the downloadable versions of many of these titles. They can make more money that way than if they just dump everything at once because people will be tempted to buy more titles on the cheap over time. If they just dumped the whole list at once people would just buy their top-tier items and then forget the lesser-tier games exist. It also gives them an opportunity to get the testing done, etc. I don't have a huge problem with that IF they give a sizable list each month. Don't want them pulling a Virtual Console and only putting out 4-6 games a month. I've got plenty to play in the interim, especially right now.

Seriously... Where are the Capcom games like SFIV and Dragon's Dogma?

I recall seeing Capcom on the list of participating publishers... Where are the games??

What gets me is the fact that they give BC this grand reveal at the E3 pressed and then cough up this awful list.

I just hope we do get remasters of most of the games I mentioned along with PC releases.

Why isn't Fable 3 and anniversary on the list? That's odd to me.

Also why didn't anybody tell me Earthworm Jim got a remake. I love that series. Are they going to add a 360 store to the 1?

Not bad as a start but I need
Mass Effect 2 & 3
Final Fantasy 13 - 13/2 and Lightning return
Nier
Halo Reach
Halo Wars
Bayonetta
Fable anniversary

and more of course, backward is a nice feature for sure :)

You know what you can do to help make the list better?

Go vote!

It wasn't leaked which makes me think they didn't actually tell anyone it was happening so hopefully now it's working publishers will respond and let their games become available.

They really need a store so people can go back and buy digital 360 games for $10-15 or something.

If that's the launch list, I hope they start handing out some of the higher profile games as part of GWG.
