I never understood the cut scene hate this game got at the time, you'd have to have played MGS 1,2,3 in order to play MGS4. After playing 1,2,3 you'd know that MGS games are almost movies and you'd know the games are made up of like 50% cutscenes.

When MGS4 came out i played and completed it in one weekend and loving it, MGS is all about story and the long cutscenes in MGS4 were like candy to a baby for an MGS fan, the MGS story and lore was so addictive, you wanted to know more and more.

The cutscenes and gameplay made MGS4 one of the best games ever made.
The hate never had anything to do with the cutscenes. People are just bad at articulating there feelings. The issue was always the cutscene to gameplay balance. In other words the 35 hours of cutscenes wouldnt of been an issue if there was actually more than 4 hours of gameplay. Mgs1-3 had a way way better balance between the two.

Bought the PS3 MGS4 bundle back in the day... but was crushed playing through it. The cut scenes were insufferable and way too long even by Kojima standards.

But it was supposed to be the last MGS game... it was going to tie up the Solid Snake story, it was always going to be cutscene heavy.

Personally, as someone who loved the MGS story i was loving the amount of cutscenes and length, the whole game was an amazing experiance that i'll never forget.

My issue isnt the long cutscenes or the amount of them its thd balance. 35hrs sure...but then make the entire gamd 60 hours so we can get just as much gameplay or close too. Mgs is all about dem kojima cutscenes no doubt....but its also supposed to be a game.

Replaying the first 3 games made me realize how bad these games aged so i'm probably not gonna buy this collection and save the good memories i have of mgs4 when i thought kojima couldn't miss...boy was i naive af...

It's funny because a quick google search says the complete opposite. Even if they did provide development resources that is very different then "fully funded".
Perhaps I misspoke, but I specifically remember it was Sonys involvement that got the game going. Konami weren't keen on making it due to budget, but Sonys involvement pushed it forward. So despite some info saying Konami fully funded it, thats clearly not the case. Either way Playstation paid and secured it as a exclusive.

I wonder how many years it will be before part 4 can be brought as a standalone....I don't see the point in having two copies of Peacewalker, (which would be the case...) I haven't even got around to playing that, even...and I have no interest in Ghost Babel..

Found a photo of you taken 30 second before you posted this wild take.

Tho i think i get your point which is, at a time when people were asking themselves if the PS3 was really worth the price, the E3 presentation of the game was so convincing that it reassured people about the worth of the console. But other than that, MGS4 is only 6th in terms of best selling PS3 games.

I bought a PS3 just to play this game. It's probably the last game I really ever allowed myself to dedicate 100% of my time to and just drink it in. It was 1 month before I start working fulltime at my career, so I was truly free, no job, no college, just me, a PS3, and MGS4. *cries*

We still doing this? Where are you even pulling this from? Because I couldn't find a single thing that backed up your statement. The most I can find is that Sony provided help with optimization and marketing.
