Guess I'm not seeing the "awesome" part here. It's a fuzzy picture with green glow.

A lot of people are really trying to "hype" this up based on a couple promo shots. I'll wait for at least a trailer to come out before I even began to form an opinion. I want this film to be good just as much as any of you. So I guess here's for hoping!

Well, it balances out because ALOT of people are shitting on it and overreacting over a couple promo shots too. Well, lets be honest, they hated it before the promo shots came out because of the female stars.

I am really confused what they are going for here.

Is it suppose to be just a gender swap with everything else the same?

Is it suppose to be the next generation of Ghostbusters?

Is it suppose to be a reimagining?

Maybe I need to read the synopsis.

I'm getting a little more than tired of these shots. I'm ready for a trailer and knowing more than "look, they're female and wearing ghostbusters uniforms."

I might see it when it hits Netflix or something. But this is not the next Ghostbusters movie I want. I'd rather have another game again with the original cast.

Pretty much.

I'm still salty that it's a reboot instead of a sequel. Couldn't care less about the women, but the premise sucks.

It's alright, but I wish they weren't trying to look all badass with the poses and shit. I feel like the original crew were less like heroes and more of a crew of guys just doing a job. An extremely unusual and dangerous job, but yeah.

One of the many little things I don't like is that the original cast looks like they were wearing work suits, and the new cast looks like they're wearing costumes. And those boots.

It's because new those stills were shot with modern digital cameras with very sharp and clear lenses. It just cuts right through things like sets and costumes. Like when TV stations started going to HD they had to tear down and rebuild the sets for their news broadcasts, change wardrobes, reinvent makeup techniques, etc.

Not sure how a reboot of a classic is automatically awesome because of the gender swap. Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are certainly awesome but so is Bryan Cranston and Total Recall is terrible

Edit: I don't know who the other women in this movie are and they could be awesome too

Looks like a Mario & Luigi movie.

That's exactly my thought on it, If it was a sequel than It makes sense but a reboot is one of the worst ideas they could have done with it.

You know you've got a problem when the best that your target demographic has to say about your take on a beloved franchise is that Kate McKinnon's hair is on point as a nostalgia nod.

It looks ok, the outfits don't look quite right and the first promo shots should have been a bit more "grungie"/worked. Like this was one of the first OG ghostbusters promo shots, to me it looks way way way better than the OPs photo.

Still, i'll wait and see I enjoy each of the stars on SNL / Spy / Wiig movies, end of the day the movie is funny and good or it isn't.

That's the problem, in equal parts you got a lot of people shitting on a film they haven't seen (not even a trailer) and a lot of people beyond exaggerating this film as the second coming of Christ. I don't know if the laugh or just shake my head and walk away.

My opinion is this. Being a huge fan of the originals and growing up with them, I'm not entirely convinced with the actors chosen. That being said, I will give the director the benefit of the doubt and watch the film before forming a complete opinion on the product.

I want this film to be good. I'm sure everyone would love that. To be honest though, most Hollywood reboots, remakes, sequels, etc usually range from crap to watchable and never come close to the originals in actual product quality.

To conclude: I am excited to see what the finished product looks like. I hope we don't have to wait to long to finally get a trailer. I'm hoping they can recapture some of the charm and fun of the originals while doing something new with the franchise.

I had the same thought. Something like this:

Kinda communicates better what the movie is about. Some goofball nerds going up against something bigger than them. They're not really 'cool' or 'badass', and I don't think that's what Ghostbusters should be. But you can't really judge based on a few still images.

Yeah, it's a bit awkwardly posed. I'd prefer to see a movie still

How is it cynical?

I'm going to preface all this with a disclaimer that I'd like this to be good, and it could turn out to be good. That being said:

- It's another Hollywood let's-reboot-a-recognizable-property movie, when the originals (especially the first) are sorta perfect.

- I feel like they are getting less heat for that by doing the all-female cast thing, which to me is the cynical part. It's a lazy way to distinguish this movie - "Oh the original was all men? Well OURS is all WOMEN!" And I think it's disingenuous to pretend an all-female cast justifies the movie's existence, when we know it exists to try and kickstart some big movie universe a'la Marvel. And I fear these producers and marketing folks are sitting back saying, "yessss think of all the free marketing we're going to get on social media for having an all-woman crew! Now let's cast a pretty boy as their secretary!"

It all just feels creepy to me.
