I'm personally hoping it WILL be Just Cause 3. The graphics in 2 still blow me away! Plus... you can't go wrong with more open world games!

My prediction: the writing will be horrid, the gameplay janky as fuck, and they will completely miss the tone.

But people will like it because it will be very silly.

Was confirmed that the character is holding a pickaxe in another tweet.
Just Cause 3 or Mad Max? doesn't matter they are both getting bought when they are released.

It's scary when you can tell animation is going to be really bad from a single still image.

It could be a hammer or wrench too. Too blurry to tell. Worth noting though is that melee weapons weren't really a big thing for the JC games. Kinda makes me lean towards a Mad Max title.

It's Mad Max. Barlog admitted he was working on a Mad Max game a billion years ago. He recently left Avalanche. Avalanche posts a Mad Max-esque screens.

Walks like a duck, talks like a duck, etc.

Can someone explain the Mad Max part of this? I know what Mad Max is but looking at that picture i don't go "that's Mad Max!". If this is Mad Max, then Motorstorm is Mad Max.

God of War 2 director Cory Barlog is likely working on the Mad Max game (a supposed tie-in with the 2012 movie sequel) at Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios. Eurogamer reports Avalanche Studios' founder Christofer Sundberg told the site, "I can't comment on the projects we are working on, but Cory is working here with us in Stockholm."

We've known Barlog had been working on a Mad Max game since 2008, with production reportedly still going on last year -- we just never knew exactly where he was making the game.

The studio's Avalanche Engine would actually be fantastic for driving an enormous, lush Mad Max game -- well, if "lush" existed in the Mad Max vocabulary. The engine certainly proved its graphical power in Just Cause 2. Now, if Barlog could only help deliver a cohesive concept, instead of just an empty sandbox, that could be a truly beautiful thing.

They've been rumored to work on a Mad Max game. Oh, and Motorstorm is pretty much Mad Max. :P
