First ps3 game : uncharted 2, mgs4 or ff xiii?

Uncharted 2 is my favourite exclusive on the platform. I'd recommend picking up the first game with it (There's a controller bundle which includes the game for $60) so you can get to know the characters first. Uncharted 1 is average. Uncharted 2 is <3<3<3

If you're only going to have one game for a long time, Final Fantasy XIII will last longer if you don't play multiplayer.

MGS4 is trash if you haven't played the others.

Is it possible to have an Uncharted 2 thread that doesn't have insane hyperbole?

It is because it isn't hyperbole.

Uncharted 2 definitely.

FFXIII if you want a game with a fantastic battle system and you can handle linearity.

MGS4 if you want to play the worst MGS in the series.

Yakuza 3 if you want to feel like a badass. Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 preferably if you understand Japanese.

note that it's my first Mgs, uncharted and ff
What!? You've never played a Final Fantasy or a Metal Gear Solid?... Go play some of the old games!!!

I would never recommend MGS4 to somebody who has not played the previous games.

Well at least that way he wouldn't gather amazing memories from the previous games, only to destroy them by playing MGS4.

This. Seems most overlooked that. I agree, give MGS4 a miss if you haven't played the others.

My fav exclusives on it so far are (in no particular order) Uncharted 2 (first game I bought), Ferrari Challenge (A real gem of a racer), Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Demon's Souls.

Definitely consider Demon's Souls but do a bit of reading of the reviews first. It's scored very highly, is difficult but highly rewarding.

I'm about to buy a ps3 , and I can get a nice price for one of those games, which one gaf thinks is better as a game and replayability, note that it's my first Mgs, uncharted and ff

Help gaf!

MGS 4 first (Because if you play UC2 first, the graphics will spoil you). Then UC1 & 2. Then FF XIII.

Uncharted 1. Uncharted 2 is awesome but the first is just amazing. It can probably be found super cheap so my vote is Uncharted 1 and 2.

Uncharted 1, then 2.
The first game is still fantastic.
Maybe you'll get burned out playing two Uncharted's in a row though.
You're probably better off watching MGS4 in between.

I see what you did there! :P

Anyway get Uncharted 1/2 and Demon's Souls, they are the best games on the system IMO.

After that get Siren: Blood Curse, Wipeout HD and Resistance: FoM..great games that you can find at low prices.

Stay away from Heavenly Sword, Resistance 2 and try the demo of Killzone 2 to see if you like it - it's not a game for everyone.

MGS4 doesn't have the graphics of UC2, but I think it's more fun. Of course, you're probably trying to showcase graphics on your first game so yeah go with UC2.

Woah woah, what's so good with uncharted 2, I though ff xiii fans would come to tell how pretty it is and mgs fans how good the story or gsmeplay was
But... the problem is, it isn't pretty.

It's quite average, and on top of that, you walk around just corridors.

Seriously, screw FFXIII and get Uncharted 1 and 2.

ok call me the ultimate fail ever.

for money reasons I bought MGS4 (damn cheap) and Demon Souls, next month is both uncharteds and FF XIII!

Thats why not Im fail, I come back to my dorm, connect the stupid tv and realize that doesnt have color! only red, yellow, green and sometimes blue!!

FUUUUUUU, now black and white snake is smoking in my tv, and sometimes it has yellow on his face, fml

Uncharted 2 is probably the most accessible gameplay wise out of the three. I'd go with that first but you should eventually play all three. Also, Demon's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles are must buys!

Also, if you like baseball, MLB 10: The Show is a must own!

MGS4 really isn't for those unfamiliar with the franchise.

Don't worry about the "fail" on the part of buying MGS4. Demon's Souls makes up for that.
Plus, MGS4 isn't a bad game.

If it's your first MGS, I certainly wouldn't recommend MGS4.

Tough call between FFXIII and UC2, but I'd say find UC1 for cheap, play it, if you like it buy UC2, it's basically 10 times more awesome

Ruh roh. What kind of cables are you using?

Uncharted 2 definitely. It was the first game i played on my PS3 and i was glued to the tv. It has had amazing replay value for me. I finished it on hard and crushing within the first couple weeks of buying it.

Multiplayer has some issues with the recent patches, but is still a lot of fun. I guess you're lucky that you won't have memories of the superior experience it was before to compare to. /bitter

I bought MGS4 last week and i've already lost interest after the first few hours. If you like watching overproduced and just plain awful cinematics more than playing the actual game, then by all means buy it.

I love all those games and if I had to go with one I'd go with final fantasy

EDIT if this is gonna be the only game you have for a while get Uncharted because it has multiplayer

I think Uncharted 2 is one of the greatest video games ever made, it's infinitely superior to your other two choices imo. Sadly I can't comment on Demons Souls as I live in Europe and I'm too poor to import

It's amazing how frequently these threads pop up.

Definately have to go Uncharted 2, then FF13, then MGS4

I'm tellign you that you have to check out Killzone2 in there also though..... As well as White Knight Chronicles and the Resistance series oh wait and God of War!....

For someone to appreciate MGS4 he needs to be worthy.

Well said.

I'd recommend MGS4 then Uncharted 2 just because that was the order they came out in.

You can see how different dev's learned how to use the PS3, and as someone said above, going from Uncharted which has much less loading and installs to MGS4 would be a pain and feels like going backwards.

I just tried the ps3 on another tv and its ok, its the tv, tomorrow they will have it repaired or replace it

Please tell us you are not playing this on an SD screen with the packed in composite cables.

Uncharted. That was so easy n I don't have a ps3. Don't know y anyone would include ff13 of all games in their game ultimatum...

Uncharted 2 is the more easy bet: comfortable to get in and with some mileage to go, both off and online.

Resistance 2 with all its limits was a game I played a lot, and online it's a blast and offers a very interesting (also if somewhat repetitive) coop mode.

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time is simply great fun, if not terribily original.

MGS 4 is a great, great, great work but it's difficult to dig in without any background (I was not a strong MGS player but I still knew about the references enough to get the overall situation).

Killzone 2 is a strange FPS with slow-ish control and a fantastic gritty war atmosphere.

I would suggest RnC Tools of Destruction or Crack in Time as the first game. It's fantastic. The problem with Uncharted 2 or GOW3 is that other games will always leave you wanting more.

Here's my suggestion in three phases - RnC TOD / CIT, UC1, MGS4, KZ2 (for the multiplayer fix); UC2, GOW3, Demons Souls, FF13, Valkyria Chronicles; everything else
