First Reactions To GODZILLA Come Roaring In

Toho will most likely force them to include the big tree (Mothra, Ghidorah or Mecha G.) if the first one is a success. Typical Japanese corporate anitcs. First acting all uptight about the licensing but once the money shows they are all happy sunshine friends and flowers.

You make it sound like a negative thing.

It is. Let the film stand on its own. If Toho wants to make a Godzilla film, let them make it and let them screw it up

lol Y'all fools know that if the Godzilla 2 trailer was just the logo with this sound(updated for modern times of course) in the background, you'd all jizz your pants.

Honestly you could replace inception horns with those noises and put a few scenes in there finishing with him rising above Godzilla and it would be an amazing trailer

I'm glad it's getting good reactions, but isn't that how every big tentpole movie goes when it first gets reactions before release? I hope it's great as a Gojira nerd.

If it's any consolation, I believe most big tentpole movies are pure, unadulterated shit. And thought this was the most entertaining one in years, at least since Ghotocol.

Fuck Mothra. I do want Mechagodzilla though.

I want a modern take on King Kong vs. Godzilla.

Where humans engineer an intelligent ape to fight Godzilla.

MAKE IT HAPPEN HOLLYWOOD

I'm okay with other monsters showing up. I don't know the context in which the MUTO appear, but one has to imagine in a fictional universe where Godzilla is lying around undiscovered, there are probably other giant monsters snoozing somewhere too.

I do draw the line at Mechagodzilla though, as much as I love him. That level of technology is either wildly out of place or requires aliens to show up. I just don't see it happening in any way that isn't a huge leap of the imagination (and yes, I know, Godzilla movies already require one, but not that huge).

Mothra, Ghidorah, Rodan, even Hedorah are okay in my book (the theme certainly is relevant). I just think a giant robot version of Godzilla would be hard to pull off with a straight face.

Watched the original Godzilla for the first time last night. The tone of the new one is very similar.

Gojira (original Japanese version) or "King of the Monsters" (the US version)? It makes a bigger difference than you'd think (30 minutes cut, 20 minutes of new footage shoved in).

To fight monsters, we had to create monsters. Pacific Rim 2. :P
You know GDT wants a crossover.

Agree though, not a great idea given the tone of this movie.

Skip ahead 25 years. Mankind is using knowledge gathered from previous encounters with Godzilla and these other monsters, make Mechagodzilla a little more of a Cybergodzilla; equal parts grown from Godzilla cells and nanotech.

I wouldn't necessarily make it the next movie if this one is successful, but I also don't see why a new Godzilla series has to be told in a strictly chronological fashion. Why not skip around a bit or just skip ahead more than a year or two?

So, as someone who loves the giant rubber monsters fighting, terrible sfx and dubbing of the old movies, (the one with Godzillas son Minya is my favorite) will I be bored and disappointed by this?

Nope, resisting the urge to watch that video. The movie is too close.

it doesn't spoil anything, if anything id say its just a tease to get you worked up for the movie.

Though I feel the effects work is a bit dodgy in that :-/ Something looks really off, like the coloring/shading on the tail is too soft compared to the scene.
