I LOVE food. I'll appreciate pretty much anything well cooked.
But there is one thing i simply cannot stand: Crud meat. So anything Tartar or Sushi, forget it.

Sorry, but picky eaters over the age of 12 are a petpeeve.
Sorry, but people who get mad at others for being picky about their own personal food choices at any age are a petpeeve. There are extremes, of course; people who eat nothing but candy bars with coke all day, for example. But, outside of things like that, who cares what someone is or isn't eating as long as they are healthy? You go ahead and eat whatever you want, it's your body. To each his own.

where this gets frustrating is not when people genuinely dislike foods, but when they've adopted their picky eating habits as an element of their personality. i dated a girl for a while who insisted that she hated certain foods, would eat them in dishes on the sly, then deny liking them to keep up the ruse. it's ludicrous.

naturally, those who just don't dig the way things taste or enjoy eating them should not eat them. but i think sometimes it's easy for people to settle into habits of picky eating from when they were kids and just presume they don't like things, when in fact the human palate changes over time.

ultimately though, yes, you're right--to each his own.

I agree with that.

One example is that I hate vegatbles that are cooked into meals (like tomato sauce that is of the Garden variety ugh). But I recently ate a Quesedilla with sauted onions and now I don't care for onions at all (instead of hating them). I'm still picky with other shit though.

My palette has been changing. I used to hate cauliflour but now I can stand to eat it. I actually like brocolli now. And I just had a hummus sandwich, things are really changing.

I used to hate it too, but then I was dared to have some steamed brocolli ... and it was f*cking great!
BTW, brocolli is easily overcooked and when that happens it chemically breaks down and becomes bitter.

I wouldn't call it a ruse. If I have to eat something I don't usually enjoy consuming and there's nothing else, I'll eat it (unless it's some really gross dish). That doesn't mean I particularly care for the food. I ate one, count it, one hot dog last year, only because I was really hungry and there was nothing else. Yuck.

It's more about thinking of the foods you can live without eating consistently. Just BECAUSE you may catch yourself eating it every once and a while should not imply that you're trying to be some poser. There are certain foods I don't really mind but stay away from anyway because they upset my stomach. It's all about the diet, too.

Donno, but steamed for 5-7 min and it's vibrant green and sweet! So good ... and a nice bonus 4 oz / 100g = 33 calories.

So 1 kg got pretty much the calories of a mars bar, 1 kg brocolli is a bit much to swallow though :lol
