For all you DRIVECLUB enjoyers.

Fuck that give me Motorstrom Apocalypse

You say this like either or, Motorstorm was great too

Fuck Sony for shutting down Evolution Studios. One of the most unnecessary studio closures in history of gaming.
Maybe the #1 most retarded shit Sony has ever done, in the long history of retarded shit they've done.

The way the camera works in this game makes the game looks super nice in tps view imo.
Yep. A combination of elements from Driveclub is the reason I haven't been able to properly love a racing game in 10 years.

GT Sport chase camera felt so unbelievably embarrassing after Driveclub. As did rain effects (and dynamic wheather/clouds).. to this day.
Haven't found a game with such a truly diverse and satisfying driving where each car feels so legitimately different from the others.
And above all, this game has my favorite cockpit driving by a mile.

It feels so impossibly good thanks to those 360° steering wheel animations and audio/visual feedback. That feel when accelerating the right second while steering in curve, feeling the car adjust itself within your hands..

Literally orgasmic.

This game did sell like crap though unfortunately, and the launch server issues certainly didn't help. It was a shame though as I loved the game and the Motorstorm games, but I don't think any where particularly huge sellers. If I remember correctly they thought this would sell better than the Motorstorm games as it was a more regular arcade-sim racer like Forza Horizon but it just didn't sell well which caused the studio closure. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Its emulation, not a native port. Of course you need high power to run it.

Man some people are ignorant lol

I assumed it was an emulator... papito chulo

Imagine spending $5,000 on the real master race and realizing that the games you have on your PC bore you and you have to emulate a PS4 game at 57 fps.

It's awful.

Still much better than whatever priced PS4 but 30fps... 🤷‍♂️

If they had made crap games that didn't sell well, sure, closing Evolution would've been the logical thing. But they've made good games that sold alright (Motorstorm) to poorly (Driveclub), while Forza Horizon was popular back then as well. So it's not like there wasn't a market for arcady / fun racing games. It's more like Sony botched marketing and mishandled the studio (as usual).
Closing Evolution was a move where everyone, including Sony themselves, lost. And now Sony have neither Motorstorm nor another arcade racing game that go against Forza Horizon or be at least a complementary thing to Gran Turismo in their portfolio. I would've loved to see Evolution Studios' take on Wipeout, I believe those guys might have been able to do it.

Sorry for the rant. I still get pissed about it...

Looks great, though it could really use some upscalling.
Sony closing Evolution studios still stings, even more so in light of how shit most of their acquisitions have been in the 10 years since.
Ye he was saying in video no way to do that, But if development on the emulator works out they might allow Nvidia force upscaling from the driver CP at some point maybe?

Just because I'm bored I'd like to reiterate that the video in OP is running at 30fps, despite what the frame counter in it says.

And you people can't even notice.
Issue with embedded video? Or was the video still processing as he uploaded the video at 4K 60?

The racing game which relies on extremely good motion blur as part of its visual design doesn't look great when played at the grand speed of 0MPH. Stunning stuff.
It requires blurring almost everything to look good?? Then needing glasses but not using it is a good thing too.

If a game looks good when some / many parts of the screen are blurred and obscured .. does it actually even look good? 🤔

It looks good at specific angles on specific tracks. Outside of that, photomode and 360p gifs.

On the whole, the game didn't age well, but I'm not sure why we're supposed to pretend a 12 year old multiple gen old game looks good compared to modern games.

I notice these threads never include tracks like the desert.

A little better.

Just found some Digital Foundry screenshots showcasing how Photo-Mode alters the image. It essentially supersamples the image to pre-rendered levels (in real-time however, takes around 3-5 seconds).

I remember buying it for $10 some years after it released primarily based on the gifs on various forums and then when I saw the actual game running on my screen, it was like an "oh .. ok" moment, lol.

As I suspected just about the only difference photo-mode makes is to the image quality - which a PC will surely clean up in no time, as GPU rendering (*once the bugs are ironed out) is usually trivial compared to the CPU side for emulators.

So DriveClub is going to be the visually best game until 2050. Literally.

It's not better even on PC during a race when it's not a blurry mess with rain

It looks like a product of its time.

Judging by some comments, I guess this game really is the gift that keeps on giving.. 12 years old and still making some people as salty as ever.

Imagine playing the game in 2014, and 12 years later, fully aware of how many of its elements haven't even been matched, deciding to take the "actually only in Gif" stance..
My thoughts exactly. It's so pathetic.

You're aware you're posting footage of the game from a build of ShadPS4 where motion blur didn't even work right?

Embarrassing really.

I mean the fact someone could post that footage thinking it's Driveclub makes it instantly obvious he's never played the game. And yet here he is, compelled to join some paradigm of integrity like Adam, in spouting nonsense on something he's not familiar with..

It would also be the first setting I disable on PC. Add chromatic aberration too.

Even with motion blur included from your video, it's obvious its a product of its time. Crazy rose tinted glasses you guys have :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Perfect example of emulator bros thinking what they're seeing is exactly how it be at the time (also why I explicitly stated "*once the bugs are ironed out" in my post). PCSX2 is 24 years old and is still fixing missing visual issues.

This is the new norm for Driveclub.

Who played, and still plays the game, cannot praise it while sharing Gifs, or low bitrate videos, or Photo-Mode screenshots because they are "deceiving"..

Those who instead probably never even played the game, but feel the need to come across as pathetic losers in trying to downplay its undeniable achievements, have to rely on still screeshots (that DF describes as unrepresentative of the game IQ) and now literal broken versions of the game missing 50% of its visuals. Nothing deceiving there.

I'm not here to argue that the game looks so good that it transcends generations. Just that posting this:

Is extremely disingenuous as it's not at all representative of how the game looks in motion on PS4 during normal gameplay.
