For delivery: Do you tip a percentage or a set amount?

Do you tip a delivery driver based on a percent of the total purchase or do you always pay the delivery drive based on a set amount. Does it also fluctuate if there is a delivery fee?

I usually tip sweet fa.
If the order is like 9 and I'm paying with a 10 note I'll let the driver keep the change.

I don't tip delivery drivers. Companies here tend to charge extra for delivery.

None of that actually goes to the driver if you're in the US.

I tip 20-30% if its over like 10-15, if its around 10-15 ill just throw them a fiver.

Tipping well has never led me astray.

This. The only local chippy we like charges nearly a tenner to deliver when the distance is 2 and a half miles.

The delivery fee rarely if ever goes to the driver in the US, as sersteven mentioned. Y'all been screwing over delivery drivers.

I usually tip $5 on most orders ($10-$30 orders) unless it's something above that price range, then I'll jump to a 20% tip type of deal as I would in-store.

I always tip 2€, sometimes three, when I order food.

Tipping is not huge here so I pay that price to be known as the guy where the delivery guy gets something extra and I always have my food 15-20 minutes after ordering! :)

Yeah the fee is there for the company to cover the low salary a driver gets. The tip is part of not being a dick to the guy who's bringing you something when you're lazy. I've recently switched from a percentage to a $5 flat rate.

This or I'll round up to a quid, it's easier. Had a friend who worked for Domino's, she once told me she didn't expect a tip (just customers to turn up clothed to the door....)

i simply stopped ordering delivery.

delivery fees not going to drivers was the last straw.

upcharge that just lines the company pockets? nah, i'll just pick up.

I'm confused because it's different depending on the city. Some cities the drivers act like they don't expect to be tipped or care, others it seems custom. The place I order from now charges for delivery and the drivers don't expect a tip so I'm assuming it goes to them?

Usually a set amount. Used to be basically $5 but when the delivery charges started popping up everywhere I dropped to $3 -4. Chinese place still gets $5 because they don't charge a fee.

3 to 4 bucks usually. More if it's a large order. Driving/biking anywhere in NYC in any of the boroughs is usually a nightmare. I always make sure to tip a few bucks even on small orders.

Pretty much every place that has a delivery fee states that none of it goes to the delivery person. Which sucks but it's a shitty reason not to tip someone. I don't go crazy with it though, I'll tip a set 3 to 5 dollars if I order something.

Debit machines at restaurants where I am often have a 13, 15 and 17% tip option, so I usually follow that.

15 on average.
13 if below average.
17+ if service was great.
Below 13 or even No Tip if service was dismal.

Edit: derped on delivery lol. But I still usually just follow something close to this, though with delivery it just tends to be whatever change I can muster.

$5 flat rate

i'm considerate about delivering at a reasonable time, i make sure the delivery guy doesn't have some wild trek to get here. should be more than enough

Are we supposed to tip FedEx/UPS drivers? I tip the pizza dudes 5-10 dollars.
Maybe if they were doing something extra for you like taking a heavy item indoors for you. I tipped the guy who delivered a big TV for me and made sure it wasn't damaged.

Besides that I tip pizza or prime now like 3-5 dollars. Don't get much else delivered.
