Forza 2 Info From IGN (PGR3 Update To Add Force Feedback?)

It just mentions there will be 18 environments, 60 tracks. Doesn't specify reverse tracks etc.

300 licensed cars from 50 manufacturers.

Yeah, 12 cars in a race.

Everything is built from scratch - tracks take about 3 months to make. They're renting out tracks and go over them with GPS systems, covering various racing lines etc. Taking lots of footage, photos etc. for individual textures from each track. It's an expensive process, as he said they had to rent the Nurburgring for a week.

They're setting about 1600 values per car now versus 200 in the original.

Simulation mode will be more punishing. They've done this because they saw so many casuals going with the simulation mode, so they decided to make it more grueling..they hope to slowly help such people learn how to drive :p

Also talks about the links between the PGR3 and Forza teams. The executive producer on PGR2 is working on Forza. Greenawalt himself used to work at Bizarre on the first PGR. The teams shared tech - the photo and TV modes apparently are lifted wholly from PGR3.

All sounds like good news to me. :)

Renting Nurburgring for a week? Nice. How much would that even cost? I failed at searching Google for "nurburgring rent" and similar. :'(

I commend him for both of those... i can relate the impact he's talking about that GT1 had... It brought a whole new experience to racers, one that i prefer over any other type... I love racing sims...

Some quotes and bits and bobs..I'll just throw in whatever I think is interesting, I won't vouch for the newness as I doubt I'm as familiar with the game as some of you might be..

That is some outrageously good news right there.

Everyone I talk to at MS seems very enthusiastic about Forza 2. They are *much* more excited than they were for the first Forza. Can't wait to see how this game looks, even if I know I'll most likely quit playing after a few hours in disgust. I just can't play sims.

798 Euros gets you an unlimited season pass, if that gives you any idea.

Buying a season pass to drive on it has got to cost a lot less than renting out the whole thing for a week. :o

And that's ONLY for the Nordschleife. I'm sure the F1 track is extra.

F1 Track confirmed in Forza 2?

I wasnt suggesting it cost MS close to 800 Euro. Just throwing out a price they charge.

1 lap ticket €16
25 lap ticket €305
No clue how much revenue they usually generate in a week but I guess you can imagine.

Look at what I found on the front page of the official ring website.

yup, Microsoft is making one for this game, and every racer after it will be playable with it.

The F1 track wasn't in the first Forza? Only the Nordschleife? Then I'm confused.
Che and team are so tight lipped to make sure the only thing that gets out is exactly what they want, I wouldn't have a clue what track was in the game if it came up and bit me on the ass.

paid promotional placement of demo system. I wonder how many €800 tickets it will take MS before that becomes a Forza pod :p

oh man that looks sweet too. Between this, Uno, Gears of War, Halo 3 and finally MASS EFFECT i don't know if I can hold out for 360 past next Christmas. Plz Microsoft to lower premium to $299.99 soon :(

the same time Sony doesn't have a billion more €800 tickets and a game that sells 5 trillion copies worldwide, i guess :lol

that wheel looks... looks... well... did Fisher Price's works inspire them? Logitech owns them in that department... but, function over form... just hope that it functions like it should... Logitech's wheels are superior looking, and they so far, are the best you can get for function...

You can see the track from Nordscheife but its not playable asfaik.

So, uh Che, they announced during the 24 of Le Mans that Aston Martin will be racing the rest of the AMLS season here in the states. Does that mean that Forza 2 will also bring the DBR9 to us? After all, the C6.R needs some competition. :)

So whats the deal with damage? What all do the production car companies not allow you to do to a car? Do they care about performance damage? Why no blowouts or missing wheels in Forza?

A fair amount of people missed the ability to roll cars over, but it's understandable that manufacturers don't want that I suppose.
