Forza Horizon 6 |OT| Tōge Drift

I am playing it. The character creator was absolutely hideous but so far I am enjoying it. I am going to explore the map because I love Japan and I want to see if the landscapes are accurate

New Zealand, here I come !

On 5800x3d+9070 XT, 1440p, FSR 4.1 'Performance', all settings 'High', Night Shadows and Audio 'Ultra', RT Reflections and GI 'High'. Getting 105fps in the benchmark, 150-165fps in the opening sequence. I switched my monitor to 120Hz and set it 120fps in game with no v-sync. Seems smoother that way. Mei seems way less annoying than whatever his name was in FH5. Can't wait to play some more later today.

I put in 10+ hours over the weekend. Such an addictive game, and I love all of the new additions over the previous games.

Unfortunately, they carried over some of my chief complaints as well, mainly: YOU CAN'T SKIP THE INANE DIALOGUE!! Holy fucking hell, shut up Mei!

Ahem, anyway, the mech race had a goofy smile plastered on my face, and I can't wait to see what they next wristbands bring.

Oh wow there's a lot of collectibles and I just stumbled on a "treasure" car in a Tokyo parking. Its stats are shit but it's a treasure :D

The 1991 Nissan Figaro.

I was getting a lot of stutters with my 4090 intel 14900 (I never had them with FH4 or 5). And it felt like I was paying $130 for a Japan map pack.

I love this series, but my interest in it has been dwindling. 100+ hours in FH4, 40-50 in FH5.

But I think I feel better getting the Standard version, which I think I'll pick up right now :)

I'm usually done with the game by the time the DLCs come out. I'll play for maybe an hour or so and drop it. So this is the way to go!

I hope the VIP membership is reasonable.
Heads-up! I had stutter problems on a 5090 and 9950x3D. But DenchDeckard DenchDeckard pushed me in the right direction there, turns out having Nvidia app framerate limit to off caused the game to stutter if the fps reached above the screen refresh. When I set a cap at 140 on a 144hz gsync compatible screen it turned out extremely stable.

On the technical side, I'm having what appears to be VRAM leaks with my 4070 Super. I'm a tinkerer, so there will be certain settings changes that will randomly start gobbling up VRAM and putting me in the red (along with a low VRAM error message). This is on 1440p, so I'm not trying to push things in any crazy way. Reverting them back doesn't help. Even if that message doesn't happen, I'll notice my frame rate will suddenly drop significantly and won't return to normal until I restart the game.

On the non-technical side, there are no surprises here - it's more Forza Horizon, so if you like the series (which I do), you're going to love this.

XBOX Mode + in MSI Rivatuner, async on, framerate max 60 FPS + DLSS4.5 M preset performance.

Good game!

Man, they should have divided these story events up a bit, lol.

Now I'm gonna finish all 6 of this Yuji guy's story missions before even going for the first Horizon qualifier event.

Ideally they should have locked next chapters of the story missions between qualifiers.

Right on! Thanks! I'll double check my settings!

I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up the Standard version later today :)

Kind of a dumb question and the answer is probably super obvious, why is the wheel spin option greyed out for me? Is it Horizon checklist progress related?

Could be...yes....or you are in a mission? Anyway...you will get lots of wheelspins soon enough. And I swear...i had maybe close to 100 wheelspins already (lvl 87) and got maybe 5 cars out of it....i am so unlucky with that shit.

Is it just me or does the game feel like there is a lot less festival cheese in this compared to the other games?.
I mean i have been doing a lot of exploring in my time so far but i have also been doing a lot of races and events too, and i think i have only been to the festival site about 3 times so far.
Also very few pop ups and in your face festival shit in this compared to the old games.

I like it.

Got my pink bracelet last night. This game feels far buggier than previous entries with crashes, getting stuck in geometry, and clipping issues. I grinded that delivery job to max and that was a chore that doesn't feel incredibly balanced (time constrains on 3x deliveries feel short, GPS in the city is far from optimal, and payouts are low). I have most mascots and billboards collected beyond the locked off area of the map. I spoke to soon about the spectacle races as you do race against planes and other stuff I'll not spoil. I'm pretty mixed on this so far, but I think it's mostly down to series fatigue and the representation of Japan just feeling "off", with a lot of the flare feeling like an outsiders perception of what Japan is really like. The one race in the shipping yard that you continually climb to higher elevations has been the highlight, but I can't shake the feeling of "been there, done that" otherwise.

The barn find car scenes are hilarious.

* find barn with a completely mangled up car, buried under some debris *

Mei: I can't believe someone left this car in such good condition.

And the same old, "you better get this on video" and your character is always like "Oh yeah, thats a great idea, AGAIN"

Thank god they rolled back the stunt event to work like it did before FH5. It used to be a source for a lot pf xp and credits but in FH5 it became too complicated with I think 4 different event types. I hardly bothered with them. Much easier now.

That's why I initially refunded it. That series fatigue is real with this game, for sure.

I've been itching to pick it back up, but I'm afraid I'll get bored quickly.

Level 30 goes brr .. having way too much fun and I hate that I have to put it down for a bit now to do *real life shit*

I thought I would immediately play this game in 60fps mode on Xbox, but thought I would give 30fps mode a try at first to see how it looked. Suprisingly, the 30fps feels pretty smooth and I have been playing in that mode over the weekend. I believe it is due to how they implement motion blur in this game, but I do not feel the choppiness I usually feel at 30fps.

Anyone else try the 30fps mode and is impressed with it.

I will probably at some point switch over to the performance mode, but for not I am shocked I have played this long in 30 fps mode.

4 hours straight without a break playing... It's been ages since I've done something like that with a game 😅

The Japan recreation is sublime, and the level of detail is in a league of its own compared to other games. The The lighting is 😍

They don't care about cheaters in mp, doubt they'll care about this. But yeah reno as always is a must since HDR looks way off.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the issue with HDR on FH6 ?
I play on a 42 oled and I don't see a problem.

70fps on a 4060 @ 3440x1440p. Budget rig wins again.
Map is pretty.
even tho I knew ahead of time, I'm still bummed about the customization. The silvia has and lancer have like 1 spoiler and then the "Forza" one. That's the one aspect i think gran Turismo does better.
Did one drag race and it was... Pretty bland. Hope there actual drag builds available but I'm not holding my breath. Will be fun to fuck around with friends.
