Four in July - The Backlog Remastered

Time to finally get rid of some games I've had for too long.

Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - Played for like a hour.
Dead Space 3 - The whole reason I bought the EA Humble Bundle.
Dantes Inferno - Went on sale for $5 on XBL. played for about 5 hours.
Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm - Done!
Dishonored - Recent Steam sale purchase, would really like to enjoy this game when I have a day or two off.

I'll see what I can do...

-Muramasa Rebirth
-The Wolf Among Us episode 4+5
-Strider (bought this when it came out... Now it's on Plus. Ha)
-Halo Anniversary
-*free slot for something that I rent or buy during the month*

My first attempt at this, maybe it's the final push I need to beat my backlog.

- Bravely Default
- Kirby: Triple Deluxe
- Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space

One between:
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
- Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
- Sam & Max: The Devil Playhouse

These are actually all the games I've left unbeaten. I'm already midway through Bravely Default, Sam & Max 2 and Layton.

Ahh, new thread smell.

Dead Rising 3
Mortal Kombat II
The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1
Infamous: Second Son
Transistor

This month is off to a good start all ready. Dead Rising 3 is not as good as the other games, plus has some really infuriating padding (no shortcuts? really?!). Mortal Kombat II is awesome of course but straight up fuck that AI. The Wolf Among Us had a strong start, but The Walking Dead did as well but then really soured on me towards the end of Season 1, so we'll see.

I have a bunch of half-finished games I've been meaning to take care of, so I think I can reach this goal this month:

-Rhythm Heaven Fever (set 6)
-Kirby's Return to Dreamland (world 5)
-The Wolf Among Us (last episode)
-Strider 2014 (halfway)
-RAGE (four hours in)

Looks manageable to me as long as I keep up the pace I've been doing.

Based on what I've already started:
- Far Cry 3
- Muramasa Rebirth
- Dokuro
- Lego Marvel Super Heroes
- Cave Story

I'm pretty much sure I can't beat all these games this month, but oh well :/

Already have three small games done for the month; hopefully I'll be able to clear a couple of extra games, or at least make some decent progress in Divinity.

  • Resogun
  • Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
  • TowerFall Ascension
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall

I don't think I'm going to beat Dark Souls this month...

Metroid Prime
Rayman Legends
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix* (beat the original)
Grand Theft Auto IV

*South Park: The Stick of Truth
*The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5
*Kentucky Route Zero: Act 3
*Thomas Was Alone
*Ace Attourney 5

Well, that was quick. South Park. Even shorter then I expected. Ok game, but not that special.

For beating it, not because I agree with your opinion. I laughed my ass off for the entire game and enjoyed exploring South Park and leveling up my character, even if combat was too easy (and ability-based, ultimately, I think.)

It was fun to explore South Park, but I think a lot of the humour fell flat for me since so much of it was just repeats of jokes from different episodes. It felt that I had already seen everything before.

My Backlog has been shrinking since I got this new job working nights lol. I get to sit in this super nice lobby and play games from 11pm to 7am. I hate the hours but cant complain about it. Trust me, its not all fun and games though! I worked 68 hours last week.

Backlog:

PS3
Metal Gear Rising Still stuck on the last phase of the last Boss lol
Tales of Xillia Trying soo damn hard to like this game enough to finish before the Xillia 2 comes out
Castlevania LoS2 Loved the first
Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn Just picked this up and kinda disappointing everything I want to play is DLC

PC
Wolfenstien The New Order Over halfway done with this one
FFXIV ARR My main game atm. Cant wait to hit 50 so I can join the rest of the Gaf FC! Just got my Pali and hit lvl 33!

My List though doubt I'll do them all due to the Destiny Beta...

Wolfenstein: The New Order (PS4)
Strider (PS4)
Uncharted 1 (PS3)
Ratchet and Clank 2 (PS3) (Platinum)
South Park: Stick of Truth (PS3) (Platinum)

1. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
2. The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds
3. Strider
4. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
5. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Jack and Daxter HD - Platinumed. Truly excellent game, I can't believe I missed it on PS2.

Working on:

Abe's Oddysey PS1

Red Ninja PS2 - Tenchu clone with awful controls and camera.

POP Warrior Within - almost finished.

I am thinking of starting one of these. Any recommendations?

Little King Story
Ys: Memories of Celceta
New Little King Story
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

What I finished
Watch Dogs
Rayman Legends

the only way i could do 5 games is if i count playing animal crossing every day in july as one game and participating in all available mario golf tournaments as another.

anyway here's some games i'm making progress on this month

Persona 4: Golden - doing a max s. link, max compendium, read all books playthrough. In September

Kirby: Triple Deluxe - Just beat World 3

Bravely Default - In chapter 3. Haven't played in a while but I want to finish

Fair enough. I haven't seen most South Park so a lot of it was new to me.

Yeah I mean, it was still good and absolutely very funny in it's places. I would absolutely recommend it to others, even though I would probably only score it 3/5. I was suprised that it wasn't longer then it was, but I'm also starting to feel that it probably had the perfect length for a game like this.

ugh five feels like a lot

Hopefully I'll finish these:
L.A. Noire
Marlow Briggs
Spec Ops: The Line
Shadowrun Returns
Of Orcs and Men
Jedi Academy

5 games in July?? I wish I had that much free time lol

I guess Im already one game down, though I started it In June: the new transformers dark spark game (side note: really crappy game btw, not worth it even for the story but I just had to know what happened after Fall of cybertron....advice to anyone interested in this game, stay away)

I guess ill aim for

Kid Icarus uprising (3ds)

vanquish (ps3)

Sin & punishment 2 (wii)

For now

Maybe killzone shadow fall if I get more time

Goemon's Great Adventure[N64] - finished
Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers[N64] - finished
Winback: Covert Operations[N64] - finished
Toki Tori 2+[Wii U] - finished

Unchained Blades[3DS] - in progress
The Last Remnant[X360] - in progress

That's the last of my main backlog really. Just Virtual Console stuff and my imports after those two.

It turns out I did beat four games last month:
Picross e, Magical Diary, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future

Since I just bought Animal Crossing: New Leaf a couple of days ago, I don't think I can beat four games this month, but I'll try! I want to beat four out of the six following games:

Bastion
Skyborn
Aveyond
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Cthulhu Saves The World
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode Four

Velocity Ultra
Saints Row 3
Dragon's Crown
Banner Saga
TBA

Finished off Saint's Row the Third yesterday and I think I'm going to be playing through Banner Saga next. I highly doubt it'll bore me, but that is the only way I wont be finishing it next.

Failed horribly last month with having completed only Limbo [Vita], and still missing the No Point in Dying trophy.

I'll try and keep this month in the same model as last as being manageable in scope. Even so, I'm still pretty focused on getting through all the regens in Titanfall. Couldn't imagine doing the 5 that this thread originally prescribed.

The List:

  • The Last of Us: Left Behind [PS3]
  • Dead Nation [Vita]
  • Alice: Madness Returns [360]
  • Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes [PS4]

All are fresh runs except for Dead Nation, which I believe I'm at the second checkpoint in Ch. 3
where the screamers are introduced in the park.

Bonus:

  • Batman: Arkham City [360]
  • Batman: Arkham Origins [360]
  • Dead Rising 3 [XBO]
  • Demon's Souls [PS3]
  • Rayman Origins [Vita]

Cool thread!

EDIT: Updated

Puddle (Vita)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma + (Vita)
Pilotwings Resort (3DS)
Killzone 3 (PS3)

Bonus Games:
Kung Fu Rabbit(Vita)
Pullblox(3DS)

Wii U:
Armillo
Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails

PC/Steam:
Marlo Briggs and the Mask of Death
The Last Tinker: City of Colors

PS4:
Valiant Hearts: The Great War
Wolfenstein: The New Order

Finally finished/cleared Scram Kitty this morning. I only have 8 more levels to complete and I'll have 100%. Cool shooter hybrid with fun/interesting mechanics. Nothing to freak out about, but definitely one of the better unique Wii U eShop offerings. Wish the game had actual bosses though...

Beat Wolf among us last night, that makes two.

My impression:

Really liked the game and the style, but it is telltale style so beware if you do not enjoy their offerings.

The story started well, but I feel it did taper off a bit in episode 3 onward.

As for the finale, it seemed like there were no physics involved. In the action scenes it felt as if the characters had no weight which took me out of the experience.

Overall I'd give the game an 8 and say give it a try!

Finished Sly 2 last night, even got the Platinum for it. Game looks and plays amazing on Vita, I wish it was 60fps though but I'll take what I can get, still had a lot of fun in the end. Love that game. :)

Onto finishing AAI2 (on case 3 right now) before I start up Sly 3 prob this weekend. Looking like I'll have 5 games done before the month is even half over. I'm guessing I'll be playing Sly 4 and Jak 2 this month to keep the momentum with those series' going. Then I have Ratchet Trilogy Vita coming later this month. Good times...

Just finished Gone Home the other day. I have no idea what else I'll go for. I've been playing a lot of Gundam Extreme Vs. Full Boost, though...

I don't know.

  • The Adventures of Shuggy
  • 3 Stars of Destiny
  • The Last Express
  • Expeditions: Conquistador

No idea if I'll be able to finish any more of them.

I will count these as one since I can probably finish both in 2-3hrs:
Demon Gaze: 90%...saved within the last dungeon.
FF13: LR: 95% done, I just need to spam sleep to get to end boss.

Muramasa
Atelier Escha/Logy
Drakengard 3

Conception 2-Will throw this in the garbage can, that counts as clearing out the backlog right?

Five? I love it- if I posted the thread I was gonna go back down to three :P

lol clearly you were the right man for the job

I guess that's just a side effect of the Telltale formula. Since I play those games for the story more than anything else, I find it a lot easier to look past the shallow action scenes. And I thought the finale was great. Made you make a few interesting choices that should hopefully carry weight if they choose to continue the story. Also that
twist :O

Dead Rising 3
Mortal Kombat II
The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1
Infamous: Second Son
Transistor

I like Infamous overall, but I don't think the combat really got good for me until you get the third power which is rather late in the game. And I hated the boss battles as well. Anywho, on to Transistor.

Just beat Guacamelee STCE, which wasn't in my original list. I usually hate 2D platformers so I really think this game is special for captivating me like it did. The mechanics and platforming fit together so well, great art style, great music. Can't say enough good things about the game.

Final Fantasy II (IV) [SNES]
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island [SNES]
Watch_Dogs [PS4]
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition [PS4]

I live stream on Twitch (same username as on here) and just completed a blind playthrough of Final Fantasy II. I will be streaming later this weekend too with Yoshi's Island. I'm trying to go through SNES games mainly because I just recently got a Retron 5 and got some rarer games (Chrono Trigger, FFII and FFIII). Sorry for the shameless plug.

Velocity Ultra
Saints Row 3
Banner Saga
Persona 4 Arena
Dragon's Crown

Banner Saga finished. I'm going to move on to Persona 4 Arena. Not sure how you "finish" a fighting game, but the sequel is coming out in September. Figured I'll finish off the story mode so I will be ready for the next one.

*South Park: The Stick of Truth
*The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5
*Kentucky Route Zero: Act 3
*Thomas Was Alone
*Ace Attourney 5

The Wolf Among Us beaten. Pretty good, but I feel kinda tired of this "dark and gritty" style now, where's everything just miserable and everyone are assholes. Much more interested in Telltales Borderlands game then their Game of Thrones game because of that.

By one game? Pfft, I failed it by three. :( Stupid Skyrim and work took all my time. This month though! I'll totally get it, even though five games is bloody absurd.

My list is pretty much the same as last month:
  • Another World
  • Assassin's Creed: Freedom's Cry
  • Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim DLC
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut
  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
  • Final Fantasy X HD
  • Kingdom Hearts (hard)
  • Murdered: Soul Suspect
  • PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate
  • South Park: The Stick of Truth
  • The Witcher 2
  • The Wolf Among Us (PS3)
  • The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 (PC)

Three down. Finally finished Skyrim and the DLCs on Tuesday and then I got TWAU Episode 5 done last night. If I keep this up, maybe I'll make up for the three I missed last month and get seven done this month.

Right now I'm playing DOA5U and PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate but I'm not having that much fun with them, so I might start something else as well. Probably Another World or the PS3 version of The Wolf Among Us, since I'm interested in seeing how it works when going through in one go.

Super Mario Galaxy - Collected all 120 stars just now
The Wolf Among Us - Finished the fifth episode earlier today.

There's two games I can cross off my list. I binged on Wolf Among Us over the past few days. Started off amazing but I didn't really like episode 5.

Oh god, all of my backlog are rpgs.

The Witcher 1
Dragon's Dogma
Shadowrun Returns
To the Moon

Does anyone else ever feel too lethargic to go through these? I've tried with each, and I'd play for an hour, but then I would just lose all passion and stop. Anyone else go through these?

I can do it! So far this year I've struggled to even do one a month, but that'll change for July... honest. The target games...

Dark Souls II

Dishonored

Trine 2

Gunpoint

My list:
Bastion (PC): finished all dreams with 10 idols invoked and finished Score Mode.
Broken Age (PC)
YS I(PC) : Currently at the first boss.
Guacamelee Gold Edition (PC) : finished first two dungeons.
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii): replaying it as Luigi this time.
Dino Crisis 2

Bonus:
Shovel Knight (3DS): beat King Knight.
YS II(PC)
