Four in July - The Backlog Remastered

Update: Just changed it from five to four. Guess I was a little too ambitious

The challenge is simple, complete four games in July. They can be games you started in June 2014, or November 2010, it doesn't matter, just get them done by August.

Tools:

Backloggery
How Long to Beat
GAF 2014 Backlog Blitz Thread
52 Games - 1 Year Challenge

Past Threads (2014):

Four in June - Summer Madness
Three in May - Watch Backlogs
Three in April - Mo' Games Mo' Problems
Three in March - The Backlog of Truth
Four in February - A Backlog Reborn
Three in January - New Year, new games from the Steam sale

My List:

Batman: Arkham Origins (PC) - Just beat this yesterday and had a blast. It did a few things differently than Arkham City but otherwise plays the same.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5 (PC) - Started this series after the Steam sale and I'm in love. Can't wait until the final episode drops in a few days.

The Walking Dead Season 2: Episode 4 (PC) - Finally bought this in the Steam sale and loving it. Not quite as good as Season 1 I feel, but still great.

Halo: CE Anniversary (Xbox 360) - Itching to play that Master Chief Collection. Hope this tides me over until then.

My list!

Tomb Raider
Sleeping Dogs
Rogue Legacy
Final Fantasy 7
Double Dragon Neon

B-B-BONUS GAMES

Battleblock Theater
Skyrim
Final Fantasy 8

Already completed Rogue legacy, so 4 more!

The Gimme

Wolf Among Us - Tuesday this will be striked.

I failed last month's challenge by 1 game. This month its increased to FIVE games? That's impossible man. I vote for changing it to 4 games.

Regardless:
Super Mario Galaxy

Wolfenstein : The New Order - Just started it today. Love it so far, and I hope I can push through it with my free time this month.

Shovel Knight - Very close to the end on this one. Early GOTY contender, honestly. Just delightful.
And two down! Shovel Knight is truly a special game. It's both a tribute to idols of old, while being a fantastic work in its' own right. The balance between new & old, difficulty & forgiveness, nostalgia & innovation - it all hits dead perfect. Bravo.

RE4 PC - Not sure if I'll actually finish this one, but I love playing it with my sister (we spent DAYS with the Wii Edition, trading off. So much fun.)

Injustice : Gods Among Us - I'm looking to beat the story mode at least. With how disinterested I usually am in comic books, as well as fighting games - it's shocking how fun I find this. I suck, but it's joyous.

The Wolf Among Us - Final episode hits on the 8th, and I need to know how Telltale's fairytale noir is going to conclude.
Like most people, finished this one today. Still love the setting, but I'll admit the conclusion underwhelmed me a little bit.

Broken Sword 5 - nearly finished
The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5
Gone Home - not started
Betrayer - played for about an hour
Outlast: Whistleblower - not started

Sly Cooper and the Thevious Racoonus (Vita)
Sly 2: Band of Thieves (Vita)
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (Vita)
Ratchet & Clank (Vita)
Ratchet & Clank 2: Going Commando (Vita)
Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal (Vita)
Jak and Daxter - The Precursor Legacy (Vita)
Ace Attorney Investigations 2 (DS)

Yeh, lotta classic PS2 platformer love on Vita this month. <3
Will probably be playing and beating more than just these but the games listed are the ones I'm certain I'll finish

I have failed every challenge I set myself this year (Because of MMO's) and my backlog is huge.

1. Pokemon Link Battle
2. Earthbound
3. Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory
4. Drakengard 3
5. Pokemon Black 2

Let's see what I can do this month....

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance PC (Finished July 2)
Wolfenstein: The New Order PC (Finished July 6)
Watch_Dogs PS4 (Finished July 13)
BioShock PC (Finished July 19)
Destiny Beta PS4 (not sure if this counts, but I'm going to be playing a ton of it this month).

My full backlog: The above games+
The Witcher 2 (PC run), Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, and OoT 3DS.

Regardless:
Super Mario Galaxy

By one game? Pfft, I failed it by three. :( Stupid Skyrim and work took all my time. This month though! I'll totally get it, even though five games is bloody absurd.

My list is pretty much the same as last month:
  • Another World
  • Assassin's Creed: Freedom's Cry
  • Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim DLC
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut
  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
  • Final Fantasy X HD
  • Kingdom Hearts (hard)
  • PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate
  • The Witcher 2
  • The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5

Don't we say that at the beginning of every thread? We'll see each other on the list of shame at the end of the month.

er I mean, you can do it! Let's play video games
instead of just talking about them
!

Five? You don't mess around.

Assassin Creed IV: Black Flag
Demon Gaze
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon
Tales of Xillia
Tom Clancy Splinter Cell: Blacklist

I would pick shorter stuff, but I don't have much of that.

Max Payne 3
Demon's Souls
Murdered: Soul Suspect
The Bureau: X-Com Declassified
Punch-Out! Wii

Substitutes:

Bravely Default
Dragon Age II
Catherine
Valkryia Chronicles
Batman: Arkham Origins

Doubt I'll beat any of those besides Soul Suspect and X-Com.

I'm in.

Although I feel kind of cheap in that I've already got three games done:

Thomas Was Alone
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Pokemon X

I'm thinking that to round out my five I'm going to finish off Bastion and Brothers. I'll probably even finish Deus Ex and Knack finally.

After the insane push I made last month, this month I'm going for some bigger games alongside some decent sized ones.

Watch Dogs (PS4)
Alan Wake (PC) (Replay, I played it on 360 a few years back)
The Wolf Among Us - Episodes 1-5 (PC)
Wolfenstein: The New Order (PS4)
Transistor (PS4)

I will also work on Torchlight II (PC), and Shovel Knight (PC), but I'm not sure if I'll be completing them.

I have finished five.

Transistor: Jul 1
Resogun: Jul 2
Contrast: Jul 2
Tropical Freeze: Jul 17
Antichamber: July 24

Early last year, I decided to aim for finishing 25 games that year. I passed that in September last year and passed that number in July this year. And Antichamber is my 29th game for the year, which last year took me until October to get.

Persona 4
Persona 3
Final Fantasy X-2
Ys Memories(I still haven't beat it even though I'm almost done)
Wild Arms
Final Fantasy XIV(basically reaching level 50)

  1. Shovel Knight (PC) amazing game!!
  2. Killer is Dead (PC) Game crashes on start-up. Maybe I need a 64bit OS :/ update: installed 64 bit win 7. let's see
  3. Project X Zone (3DS) @stage 7/40 :/
  4. Pullblox World (Wii U) @lvl 75
  5. Dragon's Crown (Vita)

5 games in one month?! Insane. Impossible for me especially I'll go on my vacation, last week of July.

However I'll try 5 games:

X360:
Shadows of the Damned
Bastion
Bayonetta

PS3
Pixel Junk Shooter
DMC2

Finished SotD few hours ago and it was great. Really enjoyed this title. One of the best Japanese last gen. titles and one of the most underrated games previous generation. I didn't expect so good game.

Goemon's Great Adventure[N64] - finished
Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers[N64] - finished
Winback: Covert Operations[N64] - finished
Toki Tori 2+[3DS] - in progress
Unchained Blades[3DS] - in progress

I start a new job on Monday so I expect the pace to slow down quite a bit but clearing Toki Tori and Unchained Blades will be a huge relief if I can do it.

Five? A bit too much for me.

But it could be something like this:

*South Park: The Stick of Truth
*The Wolf Among Us: Episode 5
*Kentucky Route Zero: Act 3
*Thomas Was Alone
*Ace Attourney 5

Well, 5 it is then :-)

- Bond of The Skies (IOS)
- Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (Vita)
- Inotia 4 (IOS)
- Devious Dungeon (IOS)
- Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (IOS)

Finish Bonds of the Skies yesterday: great little JRPG - never understood the general disdain for Kemco's output.

Batman Arkham City - Fun game, the overworld initially annoyed me but I got used to it.
Metal Gear Rising - kinda cheating on this one cause I haven't done the DLCs yet. Sweet game though, only thing is Platinum needs to hire some extra guys to program their camera system. Damn, did the camera screw me up at times. Especially when the counter system is built around pointing in the direction of enemies, I don't need the goddamn camera spinning around me as I do it.
Donkey Kong Country Returns - In progress
Alpha Protocol - I'm like 4 hours from the end, just need to suck it up.
Transistor - Just want to finish up all the challenges in the sandbox now. A special game. The combat system is really fun, there are so many options. The combat doesn't look like much in trailers, but in game it clicks. Very well done.

portal 2 - start and finish
peace walker - finish
crysis 2 - start and finish
infamous SS - finish
shovel knight - finish

It's all because of spelunky. It slapped the cuffs on me and won't let me play anything else. Maybe this thread can help.

Mario Kart 8 - Probably won't be meaningfully 'completed'
Picross E4
Shovel Knight: Utterly glorious game. It just feels *right*.
Reading All The Harry Potter Books: Started Order of the Phoenix. Since I'm past Goblet of Fire, now, that's opened up:
Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4: Played through Year 1.
Bit.Trip Runner: I play this on and off when I don't have access to my other hardware (frequently of late due to the World Cup meaning I can't use the main telly); I'm on World 3, so one good push should do it.

Not sure what else will be added. I've got a few bits of DLC mounting up, so I might well clear some of those up (Madness of King Washington, Lost Hobo King, Saints Row IV DLC, Cold, Cold Heart, probably more I haven't thought of yet). While I think I'll get through the Harry Potter books by the end of the month (while I'm not *really* counting those towards the month goal, they do effectively gate entry to the Lego games), I don't know if I'll want to dive straight into Years 5-7.

Definitely getting a CRPG itch, too.

I... I will try. I already have a handful of games installed I've been meaning to play...

The Book of Unwritten Tales
Borderlands 2
Fez
Kairo
Serious Sam 3

No possible way I can make it to 5, but I'm going to attempt 3:

- Tomb Raider
- Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender
- Bastion

No way I could do it, unfortunately I dont remove games from my backlog until I have all trophies. Last month was good though, got the plat in Demons Souls (bought in 2010 lol), which just added another game to my backlog (Dark Souls)

Finished
The Witcher 2
Shovel Knight

Started
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Binary Domain
Paper Mario Sticker Star

Remaining backlog
XCOM EU
Red Dead Redemption
AC IV
Mass Effect 3

So close to finishing up last gen.

Five? I love it- if I posted the thread I was gonna go back down to three :P

I dont think ill be participating, but i will report back at the end of the month with anything i did complete.

My List:

Dragon Age Origins
Bought it in the summer sale, looking forward to finally play it.
Project X Zone
Pullblox

finished:
watch_dogs
Mirror's Edge

With the DOTA2 international happening? Impossible.

Alright I'm going to try and hit the low hanging fruit in the library, those games I should be on the tip of completing:

  • GTA V (360)
  • Deus EX: HR (Steam)
  • Dirt 3 (360)
  • Broken Age(Steam)

Other stuff:

  • Zelda: LBW (3DS)
  • Nidhogg (Steam)
  • Something short?

First time participant. Let's do this.*09

- Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
- New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
- Terranigma (SNES)
- Shovel Knight (PC)
- Wolfenstein - The New Order (PC)

Well, I could join and have an easy time reaching five games. In a couple of days I played 9.03M, Dear Esther, Gone Home and am currently playing To the Moon. Feels like cheating in this backlog challenge :P

By tomorrow I'll have more then three weeks left for the final game: The Last Story. Also not that long though.

What the hell, I'm in.

Valiant Hearts - Completed it earlier this week. Fantastic game.
Sniper Elite III - Currently playing through this in co-op with a friend and I'm having a pretty fun time with it so far.
Guacamelee STCE
The Wolf Among Us Episodes 4 & 5
Shadowrun Returns

5 games? Ugh, but i will try.
Decided to start reading and running again + ill be going on a 6day vacation tomorrow so this might be an impossible challenge.

Games:

Lego Batman 2 - I started today, its better than expected tbh, 3/14 stages done
Muramasa Rebirth - Couple hours into the 2nd characters story
Hotline Miami - On chapter 9
FF X-2 - In chapter 4 still.
Disgaea 3 - Made no progress last month so still at chapter 3.
Lone survivor - I started it once but died, so have to start again.
+ P3P, P2, Trails in the sky and CoL will be mine this month so those are possible as well.

Tried to pick shorter games/games i almost completed on purpose. :P

Going to shoot high this month...

Wii U:
Armillo
Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails

PC/Steam:
Marlo Briggs and the Mask of Death
The Last Tinker: City of Colors

PS4:
Valiant Hearts: The Great War
Wolfenstein: The New Order

5??

Well... I have vacation now, and Belgium lost their match against Argentina in the World Cup 2014 yesterday, so I now have a fair amount of time - and willingness - to get into gaming.

- Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood Finished
- Metro: Last Light Starting
- Shadow Warrior
- Tomb Raider
- State of Decay

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen - The whole fucking thing.
Gundam Reborn - All levels.
Mario 3D Wii U - Make it to the end.
Ys Vita - Still have to go buy it.
Drakengard 3 - All of it, even that horrendous ending.

Lord in heaven, help me.

I've just found out about the joys of backloggery.com, so this is the first time I join this kind of thread.

My games for July:

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U) - Yesterday I finally defeated the final boss. There are still secrets to be found, but I won't lie to myself, I don't have the time to find them all.

Ittle Dew (Wii U) - A fun little game. Finished it yesterday, definitely worth it, ending was hilarious.

Super Metroid (SNES) - Done.

Shovel Knight (Wii U) - Done. Jesus, what a beautiful game!

Guacamelee (Wii U) - Done too. The best Metroid-thats-not-Metroid I've ever played.

Edit: Well, I've finished all games and we're still on the 10th! This backloggery thing really helped me focus on the games I wanted to finish!

5 in one month? Challenge accepted. I need to get as many games out of the way before the end of the month. That way I can still reach 52 games done this year and put an obscene amount of time into TLoU remastered.

Velocity Ultra
Saints Row 3
Dragon's Crown
TBA
TBA

I've got this:
-Metal Gear Rising
-Guacamelee
-Marlow Briggs
-Strider
-Resident Evil 6

-Battleblock Theater

*Destiny beta is going to throw a huge wrench into this.
