The fifth season of Fred Armisen's hipster sketch show Portlandia premieres tonight, and if you spend enough time reading about the comedian online, you'll be left with two impressions: First, that he's funny and charming. And second, that his charm and humor mask something of a reputation. For what exactly depends on whom you ask, but here are some adjectives that have been used to describe him over the years: "womanizer," "sociopath," "traumatizing," and, from Armisen himself, "terrible."

I'm not sure about Fred and diseases, but I do know firsthand that he abuses his semi-celebrity status to meet women and then abruptly discards them (all the while playing the nice, sweet, down to earth role.) He's only interested in friending and/or dating celebrities. Between serious relationships, he seeks out "everyday girls" such as myself to mess with and ultimately sleep with (something he didn't get from me - I'm a bit too wise for you Fred, and you know that.) That Petra person should watch out. If - and I stress IF - someone more famous comes along, she'll be on the chopping block faster than Fred can get into his sell out black face. Despicable

Good sense of humour is the most frequent quality that women seek in a man, so I don't get the confusion. If the man is too good-looking, there might be insecurity with the woman and same goes for men ("why is he/she with me?").

Pardon the bump, but this story was so memorable that when I heard he was on Marc Maron's WTF podcast last week I wondered if he would address it.

He did, actually, in great detail. He admitted it was all pretty much true, and that he has no sense of reality when it comes to intimacy. Like, once he's comes down from the initial buzz of a relationship he pretty much shuts off or self-destructs. The funny part is that Maron was pretty much like "Yeah, tell me bout it", ha. It was interesting hearing him talk about it, because from his partners' perspectives he could come across as pretty evil. Hearing him here, and in other things I've seen, he really does come off as a nice dude and sensitive to a lot of things, just has a wicked intimacy complex I guess.

I've read the online dirt sheets that he's a womanizer and berates his lady friends until they feel bad about themselves. Most of these are from comments on other articles about him, but oddly, he seems to attract these kinds of comments where you don't hear that as much amongst other mildly popular comedians. Like, every post about Armisen online seems to have some mention about how he is a complete dirt bag to women he dates and takes advantage of them which while probably true of other mildly popular stars, it's not a reputation that follows them into every article.
