Hey, we didnt have a contender for worst album cover of the year in quite a while:

It's only August, and the internet is filled with cat pictures as album covers and other crudely drawn 'art' works to go ;)
Glad you enjoyed the record. It surprised me with just how high quality it is.

Back to genre where I have no valid opinion ;) Its been a while we had this stuff.

Im going to start using the blog to get my [new] roommates into all the weird stuff I've been listening to. This one might be a good place to start

Definitely, it was more than worth a listen. Very good find.

"Sweet Valley is a Bermuda Triangle-like place, where cannabis crumbs, spilt beer, record dust and that mysterious shit you had to blow out of game cartridges all collect as if pulled by some gigantic junkyard magnet.

Sweet Valley is a blood pact between two brothers, Nathan and Kynan Williams, gone awesomely off the rails.

Welcome to Sweet Valley, hi. You can be sure of nothing here."

A little bit trippy, and worth every second of it

I am getting lots of great feedback on that EP, Gabbo. A few FB messages and comments, quite a few blog likes. Seems like you hit the nail on the head with that one.

I knew I was onto something when I wrote the review as soon as it finished playing and finished it in a sitting

Golden Gurls - Typo Magic

It's a "name your own price" download (no minimum). I gave $5 and got sent two CDs.

For fans of Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, Husker Du, Superchunk. Very late 80s, early 90s-inspired, fuzzy indie rock.

I freakin' love this record.

ilovecolour - The Wolf

Very alternative-rock, seen these guys play live in my local area and they're pretty great. Free to download or you can pay £3 for the CD with printed front/back and a little thank-you note (not sure if you can buy it in the US though?).

Hm. Wanted to post the Sutil one today(actually I already posted it), but I just noticed that the link is dead. Apparently they took it off again.

Oh btw, Gabbo, is your email still working? I tried sending something to you, but the mail bounced back.

Not really hearing the Daft Punk in the electronics so far, but hot damn. Really good find man, really good.
edit: Ohh there is it.

Having listened to things again, Setlists and Sextapes is more like 90's big beat than Daft Punk. Like if Crystal Method had continued to release interesting music, it would probably be this.

Ah, Big Beat is an apt comparison too, I agree. In any case, glad you like it! The second LP is a bit more rock focussed, but still has some nice tracks.

it's in queue at the moment
*jumps the queue*
Not bad at all. Clean vocals, straight ahead skate punk (or so I feel).
"Cold as Hell" wins for best song.

My vote goes to Dead. Cold as hell has some great instrumentation though. Some fun songs, tbh. Will probably go back to listening it again. The vocals werent spot on in some parts I felt and some songs were quite a bit less interesting than others (Good at giving for example), other than that I like it actually.

Must say I did not like the second LP. I may not have given it a fair shake in a back-to-back listen, but it didn't grab my like Setlists.

Yeah, dont worry. I had the same impression, which is why I mainly reviewed the older one ;) It was more coherent as well.

Some minimal&experimental Electronica record:

Sorting through some to-do records atm. Decent interesting Electronica record that wont be reviewed by me but its too good to simply throw it away. Might as well post it here for someone else to find and appreciate it properly.
