bengraven said:Ah, he charges now. This is very recent.
That said, apparently it's "pay what you will" and trust me, he's worth a penny. I'm the cheapest dude in the world, spending 50 cents on Humble Bundles for example, but I bought his album for full price after getting the tracks for free a few years ago. So that's saying something at least.
bengraven said:Yeah, I'll do that. You might have just had a bad file sent, but I'll send you an upload.
Edit: scratch that, I found both albums at another site: http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/bradsucks
You are allowed to download for free and there's just an optional "support this artist" link. It's also a really good site for downloading free indie music with that option to support these artists.

And while Blues is rather American, blues-rock as a popular genre tends to come and go. Right now it's coming, but it's generally no bigger than other garage-y sounds. Not enough to get annoying yet.
Also, might you be interested in some cross-pollination with the monthly listening thread? Someone posted a "pay what you want" album that might be worth examining.
IamMikeside said:I've just posted about this in the What Are You Listening To(o) thread, but this is probably a better place for it!
The EP is up on their Bandcamp page, along with some other tracks from a live session they did at Surrey University and you can download it for any price you want (including free) and they're working on a follow-up at the minute!

gabbo said:Didn't realize this thread was still going, so I'll add this here as well
I'm glad it still does, I just hadn't seen it pop up in a whileToma said:Yeah, well.. as long as I find some stuff to post about, I'll update this thread. I know that I got quite a few people interested in the music I post, so I dont have a reason to stop posting as long as someone's interested
But its awesome that others chime in once in a while.
Yeah, well.. no wonder with the frequence Gaf posts in all the other threadsgabbo said:I'm glad it still does, I just hadn't seen it pop up in a while

"Somethin' Is Better Than Nothin'"
"All I Have To Do Is Dream" (Everly Brothers cover)
"Nothing Can Change This Love" (Sam Cooke cover)
Very good retro-reverb in the vein of Cults, Raveonettes, Youth Lagoon...
Like it, a good mix of music (even if I'm not into lo-fi myself at the moment).Toma said:Oh and your opinion on such Mailbag sections would be highly appreciated. If no one thinks they are a good idea I might just drop them again.

Wouldn't mind if there was some follow up on the bands in the mailbag at a later date but the little blurb and genre works for a grab bag setup
The Digital Disorder ep had an explicit statement that couldn't be truer, but I'm glad I grabbed it so I can look out for more in the future.Toma said:Perfect, thanksThats reassuring. Since the quality is generally worse than what most other bands I featured offer, I wasnt sure how people would like it.
Except those guys from Ektoise. Quality stuff.

Define "Indie rock." Failed experiments with changes in direction shouldn't be dismissed as bad so long as a band learns from the experienceToma said:Its funny that most the bands that I have on my blog for a short while to check them out, tend to click back onto my blog in search for their links.
And it IS really strange that most "classic" Indie Rock bands stopped making "classic" Indie Rock. Kilians was another good band with their first album only to make a steep nosedive with their second.

gabbo said:Just trying to foster discussion. In some cases, the band's debut (Strokes and The Killers are glaring examples) is praised so much, a follow up can't live up to hype/original/reviews don't want to seem biased. At least with the '2000-2006' I have a better idea what you mean by 'classic', and that you also mean the 'sound' moreso than any genre label or category.
Edit: Night Terror's - Like the vocals. Getting Wintersleep by way of the UK vibe from them there, though it's a bit low in the mix at times. The music itself is solid, straight forward rock that I actually enjoyed in spite of my tastes lately.

We're extremely proud to announce the release of 'Sueisfine'.
Think a young Aphex Twin with girl problems and growing pains.
This album is as beautiful as it is violent, unfolding an obscure
story through a very wide range of electronic compositions.
