I forgot about Bell. I just assumed that the Fringe Division was modeled after the Red counterpart as Fringe events would become well known when the Observers went public. A lot of the stuff I just took as it meaning the blue world was becoming closer to the red rather than a merged universe, such as the coffee thing. However the One World Trade Center and Bell do point towards a merged universe.

Sucks about 13 episodes and being the final season, but at lease the episodes are gonna be PERFECT in both worlds
So, from this, I think we can basically say that it was pretty much going to get canned after this season, but someone made a case for a Pity Season (in the same way that Millennium, Chuck, and The X-Files got pity seasons).

Hallelujah. Did not see that happening. Also, only 13 episodes is a good thing for a final season - it'll keep them focused on delivering a satisfying story through to the end without filler or unimportant tangents.

I stopped watching around November for whatever reason, although I watched the first three seasons and it was my favorite show. After missing a few weeks I just decided to wait until the year is over and go get the DVD set for season 4 whenever it comes out. Great news, I can just catch up and then watch the finale next year.

HELL YEA BABY!!!! I never lost hope. Not when everyone was so damn sure it was over last season. Then again when everyone was so sure this season was the end. I knew they would be back.

While I would love the show to keep going, I think it is fantastic that it is the final season. They know it is the end, so they can plan the finale accordingly. Hopefully they do a better job than they did with planning than another Bad Robot show did.
And it also lets the talent on the show search for other work since they know they will soon be available. Gotta get some more John Noble out there!

I completely agree with this. I stopped after the 6th or 7th episode of the first season. Half way through the second season my brother gave me shit for not watching the show any more so once it was over I restarted the show and watched the first two seasons before the third started. Holy shit I'm glad I did. Glad we'll at least get 13 episodes next season for them to finish it off.
