Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Standard procedure but this thread should be good to post any updates on this.

As always, they do it for all deals above certain price.
This is no news in itself
I don't think there was any FTC probe when MS bought Bethesda, but it's the new management, specifically Lina Khan, that's opening up all these probes.
I love the word probe...should be used more often.FTC has also opened a probe into Musk's Twitter sale.
They're busy bees right now with three big acquisitions.
It's just the process for buying a large company; bog standard anti-monopoly stuff.I am not American, but I assume this is taxpayer money being wasted on chasing around big companies to figuratively wag their finger in their faces and low-key justify budget spending, trying to also appeal to the "eat the rich" crowd as America ramps up toward an election.
Nah. Checks and balances like this are important. Not that any of these will or should get blocked, but it's still important to have these steps in the process to keep monopolies from occurring.I am not American, but I assume this is taxpayer money being wasted on chasing around big companies to figuratively wag their finger in their faces and low-key justify budget spending, trying to also appeal to the "eat the rich" crowd as America ramps up toward an election.
These types of posts are dumb and you should feel bad.People won't make a big deal about this one coz reasons.
Maybe because there is no reasons to make a fuss about?People won't make a big deal about this one coz reasons.
Sony is just saying what they need to say in order to get this merger approved, once they do, they’ll make all future bungie titles exclusive.

Under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, the FTC and the Department of Justice review most of the proposed transactions that affect commerce in the United States and are over a certain size, and either agency can take legal action to block deals that it believes would “substantially lessen competition.” Although there are some exemptions, for the most part current law requires companies to report any deal that is valued at more than $101 million to the agencies so they can be reviewed.Huh, well Bungie isnt a public company, so im curious why the ftc is involved. Where is jason shithead on this reporting?

So this means any merger whether private or public over $101 million gets reviewed.

Both would be picked up by Tencent the next morning
Sony, the undisputed worldwide market leader has purchased 7 studios in just this past year and has made public statements about interest in acquiring more studios. Buying one of the biggest 3rd party studios of all time, Bungie, should defiantly get a 2nd look from FTC regulators. I'd say what Sony is quietly doing is burgeoning on monopolistic and the FTC needs to keep their eye on ball.Never heard of a probe for the Zenimax purchase and that was twice as much. 7billi

Well the FTC could ask for contingencies about Bungie in writing. Jason seems to believe Microsoft should be forced to offer COD to other platforms in perpetuity. Which is nonsense imo.I’m not sure how the Bungie acquisition is Sony way of becoming a monopoly especially with what they said about them. But sure there’s no issue with the FTC looking at it.
