Well I renamed my Xbox One in the hopes that it could fix the issue and I went a while without any disconnects.
Unfortunately this did not help and the issue has returned.
Fuck.
Just realized it's been a long time since I updated my controllers. Have there been any significant updates?
If it's happening that frequently, you should be able to quickly check it at a friends to eliminate the possibility it's nearby wifi/cordless phone interference.Holy fuck. The disconnects are back with a vengeance. Three times in a 10 minute period.
I now have the MS rechargeable batteries. They are seated quite nicely.
I've tried everything. Going to a friends house won't tell me anything since there is no way to reproduce the issue.
I even tried renaming the console and I had hope for a while that it was working.
Until it started disconnecting again.
Honestly, guys, I'm relieved I'm not alone with this issue. Not happy that so many people are suffering from it, but that I'm not the only one having to find a reason, justify it to people on the Internet and/or fight Microsoft about it.
I tried renaming the thing, then played Mega Coin Squad. Within 10 minutes, I had a disconnect. Then, when I was playing another game later on, the controller turned off and I had to try to turn it back on 3 times before it would sync again. The first 2 times, the light just flickered on and off a few times.
I thought the battery was at fault. I'd just started using my play 'n charge battery again, after having my controller exchanged and using the batteries that came with it and something else before returning to my partially charged PnC. But it's worked for hours since and still shows 1/4 battery life.
Not going to happen. No friends have an X1.You should trade Xbox Ones with a friend for a while. See if either of you get disconnects. If you still get disconnects, it's a problem with your environment. If he gets disconnects, it's the hardware.
I never had this problem to be honest and I have tons of wireless signals around me that could distract the signal
Are you on guys on preview updates or something?

I'm still in awe at this, impressed the controllers were so over-engineered that they have firmware updates.Just realized it's been a long time since I updated my controllers. Have there been any significant updates?

I updated and re-synced the controllers. Not having any issues now. I just hope this lasts...
Anyone having issues with kinect randomly deciding to turn off? It's been doing this the past couple of months.

In an age where every little thing pertaining to video games is scrutinized, how is Microsoft's randomly disconnecting Xbox One controller not talked about more? Just because it's only affecting some and not all?
There are multiple threads regarding this issue on different forums, including GAF, reddit, GameFaqs and the Xbox Support Forums. Additionally, article(s) have been written about it.
Microsoft keeps posting on its forums, saying that it's trying to identify a fix, but has yet to really do much. Sure, it's surveying those affected, but still. It's usually just canned updates.
It's frustrating that people who've paid $400-500 plus taxes (and whatever else for accessories and games) are having to plug in their controllers in order to ensure stability. Else, they risk the controller regularly disconnecting or doing so at random, such as once a session or maybe four times per one mission. It's out of the blue and stops at will.
This needs to be fixed, for fuck sakes. Why aren't more pitchforks being raised?
Most responses on the matter are interference related or user error, but what if that's not the case? At least, at the fault of the user, who has nothing blocking the signal and no other devices (even a cellphone or microwave) on? Why does it do it most at 2am when nothing else is on at all?
Are you a) using Kinect (or rather have it plugged in) and b) using a launch console (Manufactured in 2013)?
Mine did that before it just died. Had to get it replaced by MS.
A) I have Kinect, and yes it's plugged in. However, I've turned it off.
B) No, I'm not. However, the issue began on Day One when I had a launch console and Day One bundle. I've since had my console replaced three times, and my controller replaced 3x.
The last replacement was a brand new set, this past winter.
Have you had a chance to game in the evening with the cordless turned off?
I was and i took it off. Still happens. Updated my controller too, still happens. Pure garbage. I have a ps4 and both of those controllers never have any issues so it cant be interference. Really aggravating. Called MS and they told me its gonna cost me $ to fix. Plus they dont even know if the issue is the console or controller.
My family relies on the phone, because we have people who come in to help every day and need to have that line of communication open. I hate phones, so if I lived alone, I'd just turn it off and not care.
It disconnects randomly, just for a couple of seconds, then turns itself back on. The middle X button turns off, then flashes a few times before turning back on. Usually, a warning prompt comes up about disconnection, then you press A.
Here's a link to a lengthy discussion thread on MSFT's forum.
A link to reddit, where they're talking about it.
I will add something to this. I am starting to think that maybe the battery contact isn't as strong as it appears when the rechargeable battery is seated. This could causes a enough of a power disruption to causes a disconnection.Well, I unplugged my cordless phone's dock and played for about 5 hours. It did not fix the problem.
The last time I played, I did so while wired. I was charging my Play 'n Charge battery. It was fully charged, with a white light on the charger, when I turned the system off. However, not long after I turned the system back on and started gaming, it gave me a "Battery for controller is low" warning. And, when I looked on the dash, lo and behold, the battery indicator was red.
The thing turned off on me due to a "low battery," but when I took the battery cover off and pushed the battery in before turning the controller back on, it was fine. I had a full battery again. Or so it seemed.
I got the same low battery message after several hours of Rayman. Doing the same thing brought it back to full.
So, I guess my Play 'n Charge battery, which I bought from Target (a store that is now defunct here) for $10, is defective. I don't have a receipt, but I've only had it for several months and haven't used it a lot. Hopefully Microsoft will replace it for me.
That's not one of these disconnects, I know. I had ONE of those, too.

I also tapped the controller and it started to disconnect and the fully charged battery went to red. Upon reseating the battery it went back to fully charged.
In short, there is some sort of issue in the battery keeping constant power.
yep. i had that issue on PS3 and nothing fixed it at all until i switched from the sixaxis controllers to DS3sI remember early PS3's having this exact issue.
Had no idea you can update the controllers. How does one go about that?
Same here. I have the day one edition and the only problems I've had so far with the controllers are that the USB cords are super fragile. I've gone through 2 so far (my wifes cat is an asshole so I can't blame MS for one of those). What's the problem? I've never had it happen to me once and I've had an X1 since launch. 3 controllers as well.
