The games have to be out by a certain date in November so the reviewers can play it before the show. Otherwise they're put into next year.

Of course the nominations don't make sense. This is what happens when you water down opinions with a mob(and not a particularly bright one at that). It isn't worth spending much time thinking about. It is particularly funny Deus Ex HR's soundtrack got nominated though, that means a lot of people voted for it I guess, but I can't imagine why.

EDIT: I want 4chan to vote in all the least likely candidates. I guess that would be stuff like Dark Souls, Zelda, Witcher 2, Ghost Trick, etc. The idea that Spike would spend all of its time awarding Japanese and East European games is hilarious to me. Make it happen /v/.

Skyrim was its only untarnished competition and it's been snubbed in multiple categories.

If anything, the nominations tell me that Arkham City has this locked up barring a late resurgent push for Portal 2.

How does it feel to answer your own question? They only nominate four titles anyway so it isn't hard to fill in a blank. If XIII-2 doesn't qualify it can be the third title for association.

Dragon Age 2 is in the best RPG list, but Witcher 2 isn't? These lists almost always suck, but that seems like an affront that goes far beyond the norm.

Probably not, but there is an argument to be made that boxing, golf, etc games are not in the same genres as football/soccer/hockey/basketball and that people watching care about this more than the divisions you could make for fighting games or strategy games.

I've yet go play AC, but from what I've heard Skyrim got more love, I have nothing against any of the nominations, I just feel Skyrim would be better for GOTY.

I'm surprised portal 2 is up there considering its early year release date.
